    I’m on my 3rd Jetta now (currently a 2016 tsi se) and I have nothing to say but good things about all of them. When my lease is up next year, I will 100% pick up a new one. My experience with VW in general has been very positive, to the point where I can’t see myself buying any other brand.

      Well said.. I am on my 3rd Jetta a 2017 tsi 1.4 I am getting a gli after this one.
      Stopped driving Japanese cars after they all went CVT.

      I had (from new) a 1998 Jetta GT, for 10 years. Then I had a 2008 Audi A4 S-Line for 10 years. I've gone back to VW for a new Passat. All of them were great, and I put 150,000 miles on them all. The new Passats are a lot of car for the money. A real sleeper.

    I think they did a great job with the redesign, the technology inside these things now is just amazing for an entry level car. The fact that it has a lot of the same tech Audi’s have is crazy

    Just purchased a 2019 Jetta S 6MT in Habanero Orange. Let me tell ya, for $17,100 sticker price, I have ZERO buyers remorse and would buy it again.
    I upgraded to it as my daily driver from an 08 Honda Civic. Honda Civic usually are known for good MPG, but let me tell you...it’s not even close to how good the Jetta is on fuel.
    I fill up with E15 fuel from Sheetz at roughly $2.05 a gallon, $26.00 full tank. Out of that tank I’ll get 450 miles with 70% city driving and 30% highway.
    Absolutely AWESOME daily driver and the manual is great.

      Omar Ibrahim civic is more expensive. Cheapest Civic I found was $19k. My Jetta was only $17k. MPG better in Jetta as well. More roomy, etc.

    I’ve had my 16 Jetta sport manual for 2 years now. 42,000 miles and still love the car, it drives so damn well. It also stops on a dime, it’s just one safe pleasurable car to own. When my lease is up I am just going to buy it and drive it for many more years.

    I recently purchased a 2019 VW Jetta R-Line & I love it! And I agree, everything has improved in the car. The 1.4 is so much better than a 2.0 or (two point slow) that I has in my 2013 SE Jetta. Mine is habanero orange.

    Infinitely better looking than my 2013 TDI Jetta. I'm looking forward to seeing a GLI version. About time the GLI got the new motor from the MQB GTI. Still love my 2016 GTI. I drive about 5k miles a month and it soaks them up and feels every bit rewarding. Glad to hear the Jetta is only getting better.

      I commute, have alot of responsibilities as a single dad, full time job and full time college. Not easy to do and involves a ton of driving. I used to Uber a few years ago when I had my Jetta TDI, but working in Los Angeles at night as an Uber driver is stupid, dangerous, and not worth the risk or piss poor money.

    I am a fan of the auto manufacturer’s that aren’t over date pinning their vehicles. What I mean is by making vehicles that use lights as body work or over doing the grill and lights to harken back to a place we don’t get and never will...

    I'm in the market and this would have been a strong consideration if it wasn't for the engine..... The lacking 1.8 is a no go for me. In Jeremy Clarkson's words " it's a cow in a track suit"

    I am surprised that VW Fanboy Andre isn't doing this review with Nathan, but Nathan alone is good as well. I like it the Jetta looks better now and not as boringly simple. My buddy has a 14 year model one with a manual and likes it, I am not in the market for another compact sedan I want a midsize truck, but this would be a good inexpensive car for a first car for someone or for those that live on an extreme budget.

    • @TheWVgoodguy22
      @TheWVgoodguy22 6 лет назад +1

      Yes I would agree that those cheap cars are usually a first car, heck my first two were like that old cars in that price range, then my next was a 7 year old Ford Escape with 76k miles on if for 10k. Heck I have never owned a new car my current one a Chevy Cruze 2013 had 33k miles on it when I got it in 14, and cost me $330 a month, and it helps build my credit. I had to get my Dad to cosign with his 800 credit score. Which with me owing $4200 on the Ford that I had to trade in put me at 19k financed which is the price of this new car. I usually say buy used if possibly and lease new. I make my amend and say this would be a good first new car for someone if they can afford the payments and build their credit up. Not everyone has 3k in the bank, I know I don't or I would probably put it towards an older truck that I can use for hunting and fishing and beating around in the winter.

      Forrest Earnest yup. Especially once there are 6 month and 1 year old versions of this Car. My son's 2017 jetta stickers at 22k and after 6 months and 6700 miles he got it for 14k otd. Great first car to build credit and not have to worry about it for a while. He's even tuned his and now it's pretty damn fun

    • @TheWVgoodguy22
      @TheWVgoodguy22 6 лет назад +1

      I am NOT hating on Andre at all, just stating that hey I am surprised that he who is one isn't doing this review or tag teaming it with Nathan. He probably had a few other projects to work on for TFL and I like Nathan too, heck the whole crew.

      @TheWVgoodguy22 6 лет назад

      Excellent Wedow I am definitely happy for him, that is a good deal for sure. Saving a dollar per mile and having all the warranty is great. Certified Pre Owned is the way to go if you can, especially 6 months to 2 years old with low miles. I use to sell cars for 14 months so I have seen how it goes, if someone is upside down with no cash down it is tough to go pre owned and have to do new with as many rebates as they can get, but if they are in the clear a rather new CPO car or truck like your son's is the way to go.

    The thing I don’t understand is why there’s no turn signal indicators on the mirrors, 17 inch rims, or fog lights on the SEL. why are all of the good features reserved for the SEL premium? This still looks like a base model, not an SEL.

    VW went back in time with the suspension on this, and not in a good way. And the Jetta didn't need to be larger than the previous generation. I'm 6'2" with a 5'10" wife and 17 year old daughter that like her mom is 5'10". We all fit in my wifes 2015 Jetta. Her lease is ending within days is she is leaning towards a 2018 Mazda6 with the 2.5 turbo.

    Looks good and engineering is awesome. But don't buy one because the workmanship is not there. After 2 years you will start to have problems. Believe me I know because I owned a 2006 1st year model. I had nothing but problems in the beginning of my 2nd year. Let's just say after warranty work didn't solve the problem with the turbo engine burning oil and smoking, a $1700.00 head light replacement because of moisture got into the power module and ruined it, interior tearing apart, and Airbag sensor defect, and steering defect, it finally died in 2013. I was still paying on it.****Don't waste your time on a Volkswagen product- just admire from a distance.****

    I'm glad they're using the MQB in the Jetta now, very stiff body. I have a MK7 GTI so I would know. However, the design is weak, hopefully the GLI has better styling. Seems like VW caved in to the bland design of most mainstream sedans.

    • @728GT
      @728GT 6 лет назад +1

      J M they definitely caved. It's so bland just like the Atlas and Tiguan. It's definitely a new strategy they think will pay off, but I don't like it one bit.

    • @JM-nz8gw
      @JM-nz8gw 6 лет назад +1

      The Atlas is abysmal, looks like a Grand Cherokee rebadged with VW logo. Kind of like the Caravan and VW Routan that happen to be the same minivan. Although, gotta be fair, MOST people buy bland cars because they don't care too much about styling, they mostly care about getting from point A to point B with a car at a reasonable price. I gotta admit, I am a car enthusiast and VW fanboy, so I do care about nearly every aspect of what I'm driving, hence why I love my GTI.

    Jetta sporty? Look at the alloys, they are high profile. Mazda3 is a sport sedan,even the now old Focus is sporty. I would say the Jetta is about as sporty as the Chevrolet Cruze. The Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra are defenitely sportier ad I am not talking about the 1.6 turbo Sport and SX versions.

    Very glad that they've brought the driving dynamics back up. What's a Volkswagen if it doesn't Fahrvergnüg? As it has a twist beam rear axel I'd be courios to know if it can do the VW three wheel dance. I hope that the next Passat is a Fahrvergnüger too.

    Why not the new generation 1.5 TSI? They introduced this new engine for the golf 7.5

    The front looks like the Ford Taurus & the rear reminds me of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata

      I see the 2015 Sonata resemblance and thought the same thing the first time I saw it but I don't get how anybody sees a Ford Taurus in the front end of the new Jetta. Like, have you even looked at a Taurus lately? They are quite different in their designs with the Taurus having a much narrower grille, different headlights, and a much more rounded out front bumper in general while the new Jetta is far more angular and aggressive looking.

      I see the sonata but I think the front end resembles a Nissan quest

    Those wheels look tiny, especially the rear set !! to me it doesn't look balanced or something. I think the original proportions of the MK4 Bora/Jetta was better, why go bigger and turn it into a Passat? (revisit the old proportions) Also, those led headlights and tail lights are lacking.

      Would have been nice if it was a plug in hybrid. I don't think they will ever make diesel again. I think Europe is done with diesel cars

    Come back in a year or two, then compare Jetta sales with the Civic, then tell us if VW "hit it out of the park".
