Beautiful LUDT. Welcome to the club. First Microtech I ever purchased was a gen II LUDT when they first released. Black handle and plain-edge and a special low serial number: 00300
Digging the color and I think because the color is a popper, I think it looks better with the Tanto blade. That one is a winner. Congrats!
The old UDT’s were highly sought after. I am glad microtech updated and brought them back. Especially the new colors. Finally Microtech is listening to customers about self servicing their knives and bring back popular models like the UDT and Scarab 2.
The upgrades to this knife at the same pricing is really exceptional.
I Respect this decision! The teal color is fantastic and the LUDT is a great example of a cool side opening auto that brings a little more to the table. I hope it performs well and sticks around for a while!

Nice knife! Older design might have something to do with the higher up blade to handle.
I bought the drop point in black, one of my favorites so far, I got the old version too and really like both versions tho, but I think this new design looks so badass

I’ve always been curious about a ludt but never pulled the trigger on one. I’ve had a ultratech otf which was pretty solid I must say.
I think Microtech should do a version with out the spring and add a thumb stud. It would make it legal to carry in more places

I just got the LUDT myself back in March, I’ve never handled it before prior to getting it, just like yourself, and honestly it feels perfect in hand and very lightweight too. I carry it pretty frequently honestly. Very slicey🔪🔪

I feel like every time I get an auto or an otf I absolutely love them, then a few months go by and the novelty kinda just wears off. Probably just me, hope you enjoy this one for a long time!

Good video, not my cup O tea, though. I don't like automatic knives of any kind. Never own an OTF, but I had a side opening version many years ago that opened up in my pocket somehow and cut my hand when I reached into my pocket.
Ouch!
I never liked side-opening autos. However, double action OTFs are some of the safest and most convenient knives that you can carry. They'll never open accidentally and they are stronger than most folding knives, outside of Cold Steel Tri-AD lock ones (and similar), despite most of them having slight blade play that's necessary for them to function.
