    Go on his website he explains it perfectly. But in simple terms the set screws will make the contact as stop pins sooner or later. So if the stop pin hits later then later lock up and then in reverse. And for the detent you can adjust how much of the detent ball falls into the hole by how soon stop pin engages, to late of engagement then the detent ball will bounce around in the hole. Detent lash.

    Great video! Now I need a mini FSD to go with Cortex XL!

    I have the FSD-I and it's great. I'd really like to get a Cortex XL, but no funds! Been targeting too much other stuff.
    Since you can adjust the detent like that, I could get it to where it can do all the deployments well - top flip, side finger, over the top, front flip, front side finger, fidget heaven lol. But youre right, the over the top is the hardest, in that it's the one that requires the most weakening of the detent. Better jimping would've helped a lot. Took this thing apart so many times to get the perfect tune, but everything always comes back together so neatly.
    The adjustment screws dictate how early or late the open and closed stop pins make contact. The one for the detent is the closed stop pin, so earlier contact/stop equals a weaker detent. Later stop allows the detent ball to drop deeper for a stronger detent. Too late of a stop will allow over-travel and cause that detent lash.
    The other stop pin is the open stop pin, so its screw adjustment minutely controls where the blade stops in the open position and so the depth of lockbar engagement on the tang. Early lockup works better on these, so I wouldn't touch it much. If you try to make it like a 40-50% lockup, it may start to have lock stick or introduce some up/down slipping.

    Please do another video adjusting your detent on the cortex xl. I got mine and feel the same way the detent is a little too light for my liking.

      Be careful with the adjustable detent. I followed Craigs instructions and was pretty careful of how much i turn the screws. Detent ball ended up popping out of the hole from strengthening the detent. Had to send it to Craig. Still waiting to get it back. No more adjustable detent knives for me, gonna sell my Holt haptic for similar reasons.

      It’s the same thing I did on the FSD in this video. Go to his website and he has a photo showing which set screw to turn. Then just turn it very slightly, put back together, and try it. If you have blade movement in closed position, you went the wrong direction.

    Not a fan of hollow grinds, but these are very cool. Thanks for sharing.

    Not to be too particular, but that's an FSD-I, not a Mini-FSD. The FSD Mini is has the Brown Lock (basically his version of the compression lock).

    Sorry for the dumb question… the mini FSD the same as FSD-i? Names interchangeable?

    • @doodysdaggers
      @doodysdaggers  6 месяцев назад

      No. Mini FSD has a button actuated liner lock mechanism

      @SES5925 6 месяцев назад +1

      Are they the same cosmetically, except fsd - i has inset liner lock? And mini is button liner lock?

      @@doodysdaggersappreciate the videos dood, but I believe the mini also comes in a liner lock variation

    Mini fsd is way better not even close imo. The cortex xl just felt way cheaper. Was kinda disappointed as I have like most his knives but that one was bit of a let down for sure.

      I didn’t feel that way at all, I’ve handled a mini FSD and loved it but it just felt like a different design, not any cheaper
