I think the main reason why fast casual bars are closing is because there are a lot more local restaurants opening up and running the same business model with much higher quality food for $2-3 more per person. It’s definitely happened in my area. I can count more local pubs near me now than I can big name restaurants of the same type
Agreed.
Because it's cheaper to eat at home then to go out and spend a ton of money on crappy food
@sandrasausville9103 Smart move! Home-cooked meals save money and guarantee better quality. 🍔💸
@@BabbleTop And better health too.
Subway fell off the boil when they stopped listening to their customer base let the quality slip and forgot what brought them to the dance. I haven't seen a Quiznos or blimpie in 20 years. Pizza Hut has problem with management from bottom to top. If BK were to fold I wouldn't shed a tear. I haven't been there in so long I can't remember. The last time was when they had the angry whopper the last time they had anything that looked good. Our local steak and shake has had issues going back 20 years. It's changed owners repeatedly and been shut down several times the worst was when they found broken glass in the food
@hellhound1389 Sounds like Subway lost its way. What do you miss most about their earlier days?
I went in a Subway to use the washroom a few days ago...no out of order sign, toilet up to the brim with clog and the garbage can overflowing. YUGH
That's the neighborhood.
@snowflakes1and2 Gross! That sounds like an unpleasant experience. 😬
I stopped buying subway when they went woke.
The last time I went into a Subway they charged me $15 for one of their subs and I've never been back since
@@Elizabeth-xo9sn Good one lol
Awesome
@Dragonlove3 Appreciate it! Awesome vibes all around. 😉
Boston Market and Quizno’s are to fast food what KMart is to retail….
Holding on by a hair….still holding on, but sooner or later, it seems like it’ll be history
@marioalonso1977 Accurate assessment! The parallels between Boston Market, Quizno's, and KMart are evident.
We lost our Boston Market and that pissed me off! The food was great!
I believe it about Burger King and
Boston Market because most all
of their locations have shut down
in my area. Jack In The Box seems
to be thriving as does Pizza Hut🍕
though. Not sure about the others!
@JaneDoe-ov1hb Thanks for sharing! Jack in the Box and Pizza Hut holding strong is good to know.
I can't imagine Pizza Hut being popular anywhere that there's a Domino's or Little Caesars.
That’s really unfortunate that they’re in trouble. I love Pizza Hut, subway, chick fil a, and some others you put in the video. At least my locations haven’t closed yet.
I stopped going to fast food, the prices don’t make sense anymore. You are paying more for the same thing
The only one of these I might miss is BK, but honestly… the main reason I have stayed loyal is because there are a couple of good locations I have stuck with. If them shutting down stores means more Wendy’s, I’m all for that, as the lower amount of locations is what often stops me from picking them instead. The rest on the list… nope, got no issue seeing them disappear, especially Pizza Hut and Subway.
@darthmeticulous6901 Staying loyal to good locations makes sense! More Wendy's could be a win. 🍔👍
If Burger King asks you if you want cheese on your sandwich tell him no that one slice of cheese cost $3
@@BruceWebb-lu1hj It doesn’t actually cost that much, at least not at the one I’ve been to. It’s not even $1 extra in my area. Also, I don’t complain about those prices, I spent seven years working for Taco Bell, the people who take your order have NO control over prices of items, in fact no one operating the store has any control over that. Cheese in particular is typically an upcharge due to inventory cost. No one who runs BK ever said you can have it your way for free.
If the price bothers me that much, I just won’t go there in the first place, but even then I’m one of the easiest customers, as I try to make their lives as easy as possible. All I care is that the food was made correctly (which usually isn’t a problem because I tend to stick with items that I don’t need to have modified, if anything the worst thing that ever happens is a missing item), that’s it. I don’t even care about wait times, it’s not something anyone should raise their blood pressure over, and I should know given I used to have a manager who had high blood pressure and yet still obsessed over time standards at that Taco Bell store.
Bottom line… if a restaurant charges extra to add cheese… oh well, I expected that to begin with.
Pizza Hut has majorly gone down hill over the years. They used to be the number one pizza restaurant but now they are nasty 🤢. The franchise owner for Burger King in my area filed for bankruptcy and most of our locations have closed. I've never got the chace to try Krystal's because I'm in Ohio. Ive never got to try Jack in the box either because all the locations that was in my area closed.
To me the true line for Pizza Hut is “Everyone outpizzas the Hut.”
@cd6422 Quality matters! Pizza Hut's decline from the top spot is a noticeable change. 📉
@darthmeticulous6901 Love that slogan! 'Everyone outpizzas the Hut' is a classic.
I grew up on Krystal. Everytime I go back to Tennessee (sadly been a long time so can't speak to the current quality) I'll order 12 Krystal burgers (no cheese) and just gorge on them. I'm not a big person by any means, I just love them and it's an indulgence I can't have very often where I live.
If I drove there I'd have a cooler in the trunk for the return trip. I would buy 100 to keep me happy for a few days.
If I flew there the relative or friend picking me up from the airport knew, without any discussion, the first stop would be a Krystal.
The closest one would be more than a 6 hour car ride from where I live now. I'd do it. Instead I just buy the frozen White Castles at the store. Not the same, really, but very similar.
I don't know about the other franchises but personally I don't see how Burger King is even still in business you never see anyone at any of their stores... Down the street there is a Burger King with a McDonald's directly across the street the McDonald's has a double drive through with lines around the corner every day and you never see a single car at burger king
If the food quality goes downhill, the restaurant will start to "circle the drain '.
Frankly, I missed TGIFriday's refreshing peppermint milkshake! 🌱
Funny thing is, during the pandemic, a lot of these places turned into ghost kitchens. Friday’s by me is now including a noodle menu.
@JimAllen-Persona Who would've thought? Noodle menu from Fridays sounds like a tasty surprise.😁
2 of the 3 Pizza Huts near me have closed, but the Subway and BK are still very good.
Jack-In-The-Box should never have tried to move eastward. That was it's downfall. There were already restaraunts with menus that people were used to.

Chick-Fil-a is actually well liked and we in New Hampshire wouldn't want them to change anything.
I love Krystals but I don't live in the south anymore. Anytime I go back home for a visit first place I go to is Krystals. Far as Chik-Fil-a the one here the drive through is always wrapped round the building everyday.
Loved Quiznos
@freddyjefferson5164 What was your favorite menu item there?
Chic waited until the founder passed to start acting up.
Baskin-Robbins is simply to expensive for Iced Cream products. We'd rather make our own!
I have heard that Quiznos decline was one of the biggest company declines in history
Nice. Goood news. Wonderful. We may live longer now. Tehehe ❤
@heather482 Fantastic news! Here's to a longer and healthier life!
I love BK. TGIF we still hv it.
Count on Long John Silver as next disappearing fast food joint. More legacy fast food joints will shutdown due to high store rental rent. High labor cost, insurance, high franchise fees, boring menus...
@mikibihon8826 Whoa, that's a bold prediction! Long John Silver's might be the next casualty in the ever-changing fast food landscape.
What about Taco Bell, KFC and IHOP?
As far as Subway's go there are still some good ones around, but they are hit & miss. Sadly more and more are having freshness issues serving mushy tomatoes and brown lettuce. I never could understand the rage about Boston Markets rotisserie chicken. There is a notable poultry seasoning odor in the air that is off putting. You should not need to season a chicken with powdered chicken seasoning. Pizza Hut shoe themselves in the foot in the mid 1990's when they over hauled their entire menu for lower quality ingredients. They really screwed up the sausage, not good. Quiznos with their meat scale making sure they measured out every morsel. Panda Express will short spoon you unless your a friend of the server.
I think more restaurants at fast food places are going to close due to increasing prices and terrible customer service soon there will be very little fast food restaurants
Yes that's true they're closing up fast
It seems like the biggest problem for most of these fast food restaurants is the tried to get too big
I definitely disagee with the wait time of Chick fil A.
Nobody in the Northeast liked pizza hur. We were used to Papa Ginos and other sicilian style pizza places, plus we had a l9t of greek houses of pizza in New England
They need to close the subway location at auburn university me and daughter went in to get some food they said they were closed and their was line there and more people came in and they took their orders I called the manager the next morning it was also messy their
That's nice I don't eat at those places.
I didn't mind Steak and Shake going to more self-serve, same food, no tips.
@malachi- Understandable! Self-serve at Steak 'n Shake can bring simplicity and no tipping. 👌🍔
The majority of Subways being owned by non Americans who never put the correct portions of meat on their sandwiches doesn’t help the brand. Even with proper meat portions, it’s still all bread!
On the note of Quiznos: why did you guys not mention the fact that Quiznos was making their franchisees buy only from Quiznos approved sources? They were overcharging franchisees for food ingredients and other essentials they need to operate the stores, and it was basically guesstimating their profitability! One franchisee even went into a neighboring franchises restaurant to commit suicide. it was that bad! I feel like that’s a point against you guys for not mentioning that fact.
@thegameshowgeek I appreciate your insight. It's crucial to consider the challenges faced by franchisees. Sorry to hear about the difficulties some experienced.
It would be interesting to know how many closures are in liberal states as opposed to Pro American states.
I work for a Pizza Hut store in Ohio.
We had a Burger King next door to us. One night, three teenagers were left in charge of the night shift there, and they decided to go outside on a smoke break. Thing is they left the damn grease trap closed. Whole place caught fire as a result. Fire Fighters were called to the scene. By morning, the Burger King was destroyed. Manager came in that morning and fired the three little bastards on the spot. I think their families had to pay for damages, IDK (I work weekends, and this happened on a Tuesday).
Place is now bulldozed to the ground.
I write this in due to the thumbnail - I think that thumbnail might be the store in question.
@CaptRicoSakara Crazy story! Leaving the grease trap closed caused all that? Wow.
@@BabbleTop That’s what I’ve been told by my coworkers that were working that night. It all happened at around 9:30 pm, I think.
@@BabbleTop Also, I misinterpreted: the fire only burnt in the kitchen, but even so, the whole restaurant was demolished anyways. Just thought I clear that part up since you guys thought otherwise. Sorry for the misunderstanding. ^__^;;;
It's never a good idea to change your logo so many times in such a short time! Pizza Hut is confusing their customers 😂
@motownman383 True! Rapid logo changes can be confusing. Pizza Hut, keep it steady! 🍕😂
BKs whopper is just a large White Caste. They used to be WHOPPERS not any more
Joe Avella and Harry Kersh will be shocked that you quote-unquote “featured” them! If you know what I mean!

Jack In The Box... Oh Jack In The Box, how I have mixed feelings about the chain. From what I have heard, Jack In The Box was so much better during the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. Judging by how the buildings and food looked back then, I'd have to agree. The 70s animated version of Jack is also really adorable! Sadly, I have seen how dirty a modern era JITB building is, and I've also seen a lot of negative reviews for the chain [it likely always had problems, but modern era JITB is only increasing in issues]. Not to mention, people are still getting sick, it's like nobody at Jack In The Box corporate learned anything from the 1993 E. Coli outbreak. I'd still be sad to see them go, though.
@muppetsretrofan8873 Mixed feelings indeed! Modern JITB has some issues, but the charm of the past is remembered.
How about (Chicken out )what happened ?
I prefer Papa John's.
@traceymay9951 Nice choice!✔️
steak n shake was the hibachi burger
@shadygodd Ah, the Hibachi Burger at Steak 'n Shake - a classic favorite.
Subway sucks, go to Wawa instead, or Firehouse, miss my local Pizza Hut, but that's what I grew up with, Dominos sucks, so now it's DiGiornos for me. Quiznos never caught on where I live, tried it once never went back, apparently no one did they closed after only two years. The Boston Market here didn't last more than two years here as well, we always got sick after we ate there, perhaps the manager there didn't practice food safety at that location. Steak and Shake just opened one where I live and based on local reviews and the location they picked is high rent they won't be here long, the reviews were less than stellar mainly prices and bad customer service. Wendy's closed here in a high traffic tourist area and I am surprised that they were here as long as they were because the food there was disgusting because that location NEVER USED FRESH BURGER ALWAYS FREEZER BURNT BURGERS AND LOUSY CHILI.
that stinks that burger king is closing for good.
@jankverneland5043 Sorry to hear about the closures. The end of an era.
BK will still be around for quite a while
Let's hope Burger King won't closed, I really like their burgers, especially McDonalds, Long John Silvers, KFC, and Pizza Hut.
Regarding Baskin ro9bbins' fresh new look, here we must deal with an old franchise not knowing the difference between "fresh"-as in healthy ingredients"-and fresh-as in taking back and acting like you know it all. I had a friend, a kind friend, who owned three BR chains. He was kind and smart and hard working. But he didn't make ice cream. He bought and sold it. At some point, BR decided that cutting costs was far more important that what they put into their products. Now I have never seen the ingredients from within one of their shops, but what they sell in markets is now filled with corn syrup-not sugar. They could use Stevia, or Monk Fruit or a number of other items. But a highly addictive, garbage additive like corn syrup is bottom of the barrel. I grew up on BR, but now choose to eat Haagen Daaz-made in Oakland at Dryers factory-for California...and B&J's ice cream-now owned by Lever Bros., but still using sugar and Vermont milk to make their products. Some companies just choose to scam the public while others care about their customers and do what's right!
subway has become soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gross!
Almost every Burger King in my area is gone! There's literally ONLY 3 left! ☠️
@ShadyRK9 Times are changing. ☠️
We used to have 2 but the location by Walmart closed. They always had complaints about the food, staff, and especially management
You can blame it on the quality
all these food outlets have jot kept its originality since opening. Just as Burger King stopped it original grilling of Burgers in which it was known for along with its outstanding flavor.. Boston Markets is sell high priced garbage. As goes for Five guys and the rest of the fast food joints.
@MRLUGNUTS And don't even get me started on Boston Market! It's disappointing to hear that their quality has taken a nosedive.
Never herd of bilpes
Funny thing I’m eating subway right now 😂
Why
@gameboi20 Haha, eating Subway while talking about it, that's awesome! 🤣
Mediocrity is Americas favorite past time these places will make it just fine
I love Subway's and I think Burger King is so much better than McDonalds!
That grill taste can't be beat, just like burgers off the backyard grill!
@leewomack3498 Subway's sandwiches are just unbeatable, right? There's something about their fresh ingredients and customizable options that make them a top choice for many.
Burger King = bad customer service and no good price deals.
Pizza Hut= not even remotely the same place as the awesome 80’s version. A current employee informed me that they now use frozen pizza crusts instead of the freshly made dough they used to make. Frozen pizza for $15-20? No thanks
Papa John’s should have simply changed their name to “Papa’s.”
Chick fil a still popular but very expensive. Don’t care for their corporate’s view on civil rights either.
All fast food = too expensive. Learn some basic cooking skills and eat at home to save money and probably eat healthier. Bring leftovers to school/work.
@theoriginalThud Agree on Burger King, customer service can be a letdown. Any favorite alternatives?
@@BabbleTop I don’t go to fast food a lot, but when I do, it’s usually Wendy’s.
I still go go to Chick fil a sometimes because the food and customer service are good ; but I’m still not happy about their civil rights issues.
I didn’t mention that I don’t go to McDonalds (since it wasn’t on the list) either because I don’t like their food or customer service.
While the idea behind Subway was great. To bad it’s such garbage 🏖️
I love Subway. It's actually my favorite place to get a sandwich. I don't even make sandwiches for myself very often.
TGI Fridays is NOT fast food! Report this video as misleading!
This is clickbait, most of these restaurant chains aren't going away
