15 Retailers Going Out Of Business In 2024
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 май 2024
- The American retail landscape isn't the same as it was just a few years ago. Businesses that used to be a synonym of success are dying at a pace that is simply astonishing. Brands that used to have thousands of stores across the U.S. are going out of business after struggling for years. Many of them have done everything they could to prevent this from happening, or at least, delay their disappearance. But the economic decline gripping our nation has been unforgiving.
Over the past few years, we've lost more purchasing power than at any other point since the 1970s. We've seen the income gap get wider, with many middle-class Americans falling into the cracks and straight into poverty. The soaring cost of living has made it almost impossible for average U.S. households to save for their future. People are being very careful about their spending because, with each passing month, the cost of bare necessities like rent, food, and gas is getting higher.
That's why seeing boarded up storefronts has become the new normal. In this environment, American retailers are literally fighting for their survival. Now, they are taking every step to streamline their operations and cut costs. That includes reducing their store count even further in order to improve profitability and save their businesses from bankruptcy.
Although for some of them that's too little, too late, others are acting fast before conditions deteriorate any further. If you have a favorite brand or store, make sure to visit it while you can, because the truth is that it might not be there a few months from now. Today, we listed 15 big retailers that announced mass store closings or are going out of business in 2024. Without further ado, let's check out this list.
1. Rue21 2. Express 3. Family Dollar 4. CVS 5. Foot Locker 6. Rite Aid 7. Macy 8. Foxtrot 9. Walmart 10. TJ Max 11. Office Depot 12. Fred's 13. Claires 14. Pet Smart 15. GNC

For boomers and senior citizens, the current market and economy are unnecessarily harder. I'm used to simply purchasing and holding assets, which doesn't seem applicable to the current volatile market, and inflation is catching up with my portfolio. My biggest concern is whether I'll survive after retirement.
Just buy and invest in Gold or other reliable stock , the government has failed us and we cant keep living like this.
Yes, gold is a great investment and a good bet against the devaluating dollar, been holding some for awhile now, I’m grateful my adviser’s moment by moment changes in the market are lightening quick, cos who know how much losses I would’ve had by now.
Please can you leave the info of your lnvestment advsor here? I’m in dire need for one
Colleen Rose Mccaffery’’ is her name. She is regarded as a genius in her area and works for Empower Financial Services. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.
Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I needed this myself, I looked her up, and I have sent her an email. I hope she gets back to me soon.
We Are in Unchartered Financial Waters! every day we encounter challenges that have become the new standard. Although we previously perceived it as a crisis, we now acknowledge it as the new normal and must adapt accordingly. Given the current economic difficulties that the country is experiencing in 2024, how can we enhance our earnings during this period of adjustment? I cannot let my $680,000 savings vanish after putting in so much effort to accumulate them.
Keeping some gold is usually a wise decision. You would be better off keeping away from equities for a bit or, even better, seeking advice from an expert given the current market conditions and everything that is at risk with the current economy.
You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 9%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst
Could you possibly recommend a CFA you've consulted with?
My CFA ’Melissa Terri Swayne’ , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
Thank you for saving me hours of back and forth investigation into the markets. I simply copied and pasted her full name into my browser, and her website came up first in search results. She looks flawless.

Back in the 70's was mild compared to this S$#t show,,,its getting scary out there
I am 50 years old, I remember the good times of the 80's and most of the 90's.
We traded peace and prosperity for this! Not kidding.
WE TRADED GOD FOR THE MIGHTY DOLLAR 💵💵💵💵
We?? Speak for YOURself. The fools may have....
Thanks to our politicians spending money like a reckless child. Now we are all paying the price.
Consumers too.
Or maybe it's because TAXES on the rich have gone from 90% to a token 28% & half of them pay only 0%!! The increasing tax burden also helped to kill the middle class!! So let's RAISE taxes on the top 5%!! Vote BLUE to get your life back!!
Why we need to vote these installed fake representatives out
Very true and they're all up in Washington in their million-dollar condos
The dirty secret is that the very government spending that is consuming society like an ulcer, gets magically counted as part of gdp. For that reason, the public is not having the proper discussion: has marginal productivity of [federal] debt gone negative? Some have not heard that idea before, so the plain english version... a dollar borrowed causes the economy to shrink instead of provide an anemic 0.2% growth or some such as it did before the threshold was crossed. What it looks like in a boots on the ground way is borrowing more cannot even serve existing debt interest due in full, and therefore makes the debt problem ever bigger. And then the music stops. I think the US may have silently crossed the rubicon at the end of 2023 - note the fed threw up its hands and stopped raising rates. The last time they gave up on program was 2005, when M3 disapeared from all efforts.
BLS numbers have been garbage for decades - and that discussion likely only begins in earnest when a number of countries just dump bonds en masse. They have a place to run to now for international settlements, and its brics.
It’s not getting better anymore, so learn how to survive without spending money
Inflation inflation inflation . We now only have money to pay for rent , food and gas . We all about to be homeless soon !
Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them
Exactly! My grandparents were so frugal but they had a TON of money on both sides. I remember my grandfather telling me "you want to make money while you sleep." And I guess that attitude passed down to my dad (RIP), because I remember going to his house one day and I had bought something I really liked, so I wanted to show it to him. So I said "Look at this!
Isn't it cute? It was on sale...I saved 50%!" My dad replied "Well, if you're spending, you're not saving." Obviously I had no retort, and that has always stuck with me.
Saving and investing wisely while prioritizing necessities and a few small luxuries in relation to one's total assets is a great approach. It helps ensure financial stability and I my for the enjoyment of life's little pleasures without compromising long-term financial goals. It's all about finding a balance that works for you!
very true, a huge part of my portfolio growth has come during this bear market. I've been able to scale from $180K to $572K in a short period of time.
How do you do that? I'm interested

Walmart closing high theft stores.

More monopolies and less competition means higher profits in fewer businesses that employ less people, buy local and shop local from locals

The nation is being gutted for the Great Re-set. LONG term planning, the '70's saw the off shoring of a nation that became a consuming nation. Of CHEAP plastic goods sold in Big Box stores. The FED is gangster run. Paying intrest on funny money printed out of thin air. Digital currency is the end. The state does not your opinions-shut off your card/'chip-starve.
I disagree 100% with you - we live in an era of socialism quickly heading to communism. Taxes keep going up up up, and people demanding more more more entitlements (Social Security, Medicare, foreign aid, pork budget, cancel student debt) . It's not sustainable. We live in a society where the Government says, take the vaccine, shut your business down, or we'll force your business to shut down and throw you in jail. I disagree with you - there is nothing wrong with buying products and goods - it is what built society. We have an entitlement issue that is addicted to socialist programs with people pushing more for an authoritarian communist government.

-low wages = can't afford to shop
-no foot traffic = less profit = job cuts + store closures = more unemployed = less people that can afford to shop
This is what happens when you have a economy of only rich & poor.
The middle class is the backbone of an economy.
We live in a time where ai, robots, performance metrics, skeleton crew workforce, lack of starter homes for low income earners, jobs being sent over seas, & a lack of good paying jobs.,
When most of the jobs are retail, restaurants, or warehouse work... no one is getting ahead.

You can get a couple pairs of scrubs, which will save you on laundry too.

Online shopping is the trend today, because prices are cheaper than retail stores.
And Corporate greed, facts are the profits for Walmart and other large retailers have never been higher... Big box brick and mortar stores are dead as corporate profiteers and their shareholders win.
With stealing an over priced rent space businesses can’t afford to stay open .
I don't think it's theft. I think it's outdates business practices. I feel like these stores are using theft as a scapegoat.

Which Walmart? The local store or the entire corporation? He would only know what a district manager knows , and the sometimes know about corporate stuff, it likely they wouldn’t know.
I heard there were some corporate layoffs at Walmart today but the stores are always busy here in NJ/NY.
