- There's no OnePlus 8T Pro this year, so the OnePlus 8T has to strike the right balance between price and specs. Thankfully, OnePlus pulls it off.

After watching the Apple event, I’ve decided it’s time to leave the iPhone (for now at least) and give OnePlus a try
I welcome you on behalf of Android community 👑🤪
Welcome bro
Same, been with them for about 4 years and just ordered my 8t.
@@markdovbysh9794 aye
You'll regret the camera
Flat screen! Finally! Curved screens suck ergonomically and cases can't fully protect the edges.
It was nothing but a gimmick, along with other "NEW & IMPROVED" features on phones. Even before smartphones were out, I stuck with my candy bar style phone, when most folks thought it was "kewl" to have a flip phone. And lo and behold...SMARTPHONES are candy bar style! I know, a *SHOCKER* right? :)
Still rocking my oneplus 6 with the 3.5 mm jack and snapdragon 845 as my daily driver since October 2018 and it is still very performant.
Still on OnePlus 5. Sent it away for a new battery and port and it's still running great. This phone is tempting me to upgrade though
Still on OnePlus 5 - no issues so far. But, I'm switching to 8t
my op5 recently got this black flickering issue where the screen goes black every 5 secs. jumping to the 8T now
@@ninadaghanashini a repair might be a lot less than you think. I was really surprised
Is it still software supported? Thought oneplus drops the support after Two years...
Watching this on OnePlus 8T

Once you go 120hz, you can't go back.
120 is so 2018 🤦♂️ 144 is the new standard
I'd rather have better battery life
@@bamsemh1 i don't see the difference....even the difference b/w 90 and 120 hz is difficult to notice
@@bamsemh1 144 is basically tye same i have the 8t but my friens has rog 3 and none of us find a ddifferent and 90 is pretty much the same but you can feel the speed on 60hz its so slower
No, 90hz is enough!
I am 8-9hrs SOT kind of person.
😂
One of the best one plus 8t review! Very impressive. Alex always nice.
So many are complaining over wireless charging (With a plugged in dock always kept on , else missing the meaning of wireless) missing that charges the phone upto 100 @ 30watts in an hour or more , over the super fast 65 watt wired charging (by still keeping the cost down) that does 0-100 in about 30 min. 🙄
Sometimes i just don't understand people who crave for Fanciness > Practicality
Why would you ever need wireless charging on a phone like this, you've got super fast 65w charging, why settle for a slow wireless charger? You've got to put it on the pad and it takes ages to charge anyway compared to wired. Why is this even a thing people care about haha
People that wont buy a phone because it lacks wireless charging (especially in the case of a oneplus phone where cable charging is absurdly fast) should not be allowed to ever own any phone that came out after 2010. It triggers me how people pass on an amazing device because they cant put it on a stupid pad which renders their phone useless just so it can slowly and inefficiently charge....
this exactly my thoughts
I see very few Smart guys in the comment section & you my friend, is one of them
Agreed wireless charging is outdated currently compared to warp charge. Also warp charge is better for the batteries in terms of heat.
I wouldn't buy a phone because of it but if everything else is equal, I might get the phone with wireless charging.
Tesla Owners have entered the Chat
You didn't mention the UK pricing which puts it at much better value against the equivalent S20 FE and the Pixel 5 here in my opinion.
OP8T 8GB/128GB with SD865: £549
S20 FE 5G 6GB/128GB with SD865: £699
Pixel 5 8GB/128GB with SD765G: £599
Having said that the other 2 phones benefit from wireless charging and an IP68 rating. I feel the only place the OP8T falls short of the others is in the camera department.
Yeah the Pixel 5 is also a much better deal in some parts of Europe where they come with a free Bose headphone
But most of the articles about the price are basing it off the US.
Actually the OP8T has IP rating for US tmobile version, so that means all of them have the same water resistance rating, but only the carrier version is certified. So for $30 upgrade fee in carrier, you get a certification, but at the end of the day, they are all the same.
Yeah, I think oneplus made a mistake not releasing the 8 gb ram version in the US. It would sell a lot better if they released that cheaper than the s20 FE.
Apart from camera and small design, does pixel 5 have any other advantage?
First time I've ever watched a review and actually recognised where the photos were taken!
Great review, ordered my OnePlus 8T
IMO, the AOD is unnecessary show off feature as wireless charging is, but what you gonna do, if many likes it.
Why doesn't anyone mention that it starts at £550 in the UK?
Yeah it's always like this with other brands too. And also when they talk about the general landscape of phones they act like Chinese phones don't exist as an option.
That's how they can get away calling the S20FE a bargain phone even though it cost twice as much as similarly specked out Poco phones. I don't use these Chinese phones but the consuming public should know about them. Given the value proposition. it might force Apple and Samsung to lower their prices if people realize they would have these options
The S20 FE is a great example of the disparity in the UK. For the Snapdragon 5G variant is £699 for 6gb RAM, 128 storage (I know expandable but you still buy the card) and the OP8T is £549 8/128
I've just replaced my destroyed OP7pro for the 12/256 8T from my insurance, it's lovely but doesn't feel as special as my 7 pro. Especially haptics. Not the best time to shell out more on a 256 8 pro for me. The value of the 8T is fantastic
And 43000 rupees in India which is like £430
This is definitely the phone for me at December I said one plus was always a phone to buy and finally my mind is made up Santa Claus is coming down the chimney to leave it under the Christmas tree ♥️♥️🙏🙏🎄🎄
This video was 2 years ago and I still have the OnePlus 8t,camera has improved a lot since,I have now the iPhone 13 pro and still like the 8t better.
Man, alex needs to do more reviews we love to see your perspective of the reviewd and your calm reviews makes it a joy to watch , great content
I just realized macro camera is very useful for virtual doctor office visits. They can really allow the doctor to see up close, in better detail.
Balance would be great if it would not be a camera downgrade from 7T, which had telephoto/zoom sensor and superior macro via ultra wide instead of those macro and depth sensors that are useless and mostly used in cheap low end phones. Also not having a Wireless charging at that price getting a little ridiculous. OnePlus please dont settle and dont become greedy, be a bit more unique with hardware and not like Xiaomi using common parts.
In Italy is half the price of the note20 ultra and it's cheaper than s20fe.. It has the 865 cpu,not exynoss crap Samsung sells... Cannot get a better phone for this kind of money
@@MrTrdsmi If camera is not a priority then it is a top notch phone, besides also lack of wireless charging.
@@TheChazas Why would u need wireless if u can get days charge when taking shit
I just watched three or four pixel 5 reviews, that reference the OnePlus 8t , and said that the OnePlus provided comparable photos, and sometimes surpassed the pixel 5
Yea no
@@VaunShiz yes... 🙄 Cause I'm lying...
I heard that. Apart from night mode where the pixel kicks 1+ ass

Should I buy this or the Samsung s20 fe?
Go with one plus 8T
8t
Who the fuck needs wireless charging with 65watt speed charge ?? Already ordered lunar silver though feels more premium than green 😉😎
Ha...he could pass for Piers Morgan's nephew/cousin, or some relative ;)
Today I tried it in Shop. Coul you believe it, no ultra wide video with 1080p 60 fps and 4k 30/60 fps video recording. Ultra wide angle is available only in 1080p 30 fps. Even my budget Xiaomi mi 9T could record video with ultra wide angle in 4k 30 fps. Oneplus are you stupid or what? You are removing necessary features for what? Im very disappointed you for trying push people buy only 8 pro model. Having in mind this and realy bad cameras on 8 and 8T you should go down with prices a lot. And I hope consumers will push you go down the prices in not buying your phones.
can you tell me how to enable call recording in it like 6t ?
Getting my 8T tomorrow... 😁😜
Why is it a mid tear phone? I was under the impression it cold run with the Samsung S20/S20 Plus/S20 ultra? Or are the specs under that os the samsung range?
The reason they don't wanna call it flagship level is lack of wireless charging. But I don't think it a fair comparison when they offer the best charging solution in the US.
It has the same processor as those phones. So yes it will run with them. but it's also a few hundred dollars cheaper list price so there are sacrifices on build, and resolution.
But this phone will be more powerful than 99% of people need it to be. In fact most people would do just fine with the $300 phone. This phone probably has too much processing power. They all do give them the fact that 90% of their consumers just browse the internet or take quick snapshots.
865 chip is stronger than mid-range a laptop chips.
@Onouphrios it's on par. But people want this in with the S20FE just because it's basically the same price and they came out at the same time. And they both cost a few hundred dollars less than the most expensive ultra versions of flagship phones.
This one doesn't claim to be ultra. And honestly no one should be spending $1,300 on a phone. Not unless it literally folds or something crazy
my background is always pure black, as black pixels use less battery. thats me in a nutshell.
But the smudges show up much worse, so i use bright wallpapers 🤷🏾♂️
I'm really enjoying my OnePlus 8!!

You can’t charge your phone and use it if you’re charging it wirelessly
Why do people need a slow ineefficient wireless charger(that needs a wire) when you can just plug it in using a 65Watt charger for a few minutes 🤷
@@markleofrancisco5912 ikr doesn’t make any sense
I don't know if balance is the right word. At least the US version has 12 gigabytes of RAM which is almost overwhelming and probably a little needless. But I don't think of it as a balanced phone. I think of it as a phone that's emphasizing speed.
S20 fe rival
Yeah with twice as much RAM in the United States. I think it's the better deal on paper. Although you were able to get a $599 version of the S20FE for a while on pre-order.

Will warpcharge work with EU adapter reduction?
OnePlus users, so with the 8T coming out what do u think is the "better phone" this or the 8 Pro, ( don't take the cost into consideration). Lastly will the 8 Pro get updated to Android 11 & the new UI ? Thanks.
Oneplus 8 pro is better phone. And yes it's already got new Oxygen OS 11 update.
I'm planning to upgrade to 8t though from old 5.
Been using the 8T for the past couple days and it's an absolute beast. The 865 handles everything with aplomb and 65 watt charge is crazy crazy fast. If the camera is a high priority for you, go for the Pro. The 8T takes perfectly decent shots for me (I'm not too picky + GCam will solve a lot of issues) and I couldn't be happier with the phone.
In my opinion the style of 8t is better and everything is pretty much same u just need 100more dollars for pro
can you please tell me if its camera's are better than those on the onepkus 7 pro ?
Nope. Worst 📷

@Onouphrios compared to pixel or iphone it is not
@Onouphrios really good compare to its competitors at the same price ? erm, nope. S20 FE offers a much balance overall package and a better camera setup. Pixel has better software processing
onepls is known to cut corners on camera category
you buy one plus to get speed and performance/price.. iphone for ios, pixel for AI and camera, Samsung for balanced overall (unless it's an exynos)
@Onouphrios no he isn't you are
No.
$750 for 2 useless cameras, OneUI copy, Back looks like an s20, has no IP Rating(unless bought from T-Mobile), and no wireless charging or reverse wireless charging.
Just buy the S20FE
@Preston's thoughts It might not make sense in US but it is a great buy in idea. Samsung FE comes with Exynos and is placed $680 whereas Oneplus comes in at $585
@@soorejnair7597 yeah, it really depends on your region
Only thing FE has over this (in practicality) is camera setup. I would have considered FE if it was similarly priced, but in my region, it is substantially more expensive and comes with exynos. Also, this camera is good as well, so it just works
@@soorejnair7597 in US. If you add a line in tmobile you get it half off so there's some deals put there that are worth getting.
I have s20 Fe 5g Snapdragon. And for gaming are absolutely awfull (touch screen issue). Camera good but can't say what the best on the market. Only good here things it are ip68 and camera the rest not impressive.

Ye of course if its working nice you shouldnt change 7t is a great phone
Bro i changed my 7t for this one and I see no difference except resolution and charge . Op 7t rocks !
Is this video promoted by OnePlus?
Yeah these reviewers have such close relationships with so many phone manufacturers that they end up being soft on almost all of them. Unless the phones compete up against the phone manufacturers with whom they rely on even more.
so sometimes you will see more critical coverage from places like Android Central but it seems like it's almost in service of Samsung. Not out of any respect for consumer advocacy
Shame about the video and camera...
