    This might be a controversial opinion, but I think I like it a lot better without the pe foam. It has more personality. This video must have taken a long time to make, so thank you for your hard work, Haurjie.

      I agree. Don’t get me wrong, PE foam sounds great (and I have done it) and is probably appealing to beginners too, but once you notice that every sound test on youtube sounds similar it really drains the uniqueness out of the keyboard, and the keyboard scene as a whole

      In order to do a proper plates comparison test, this needs to be done. And it sucks lol, rebuilding the same keyboard just to swap the plates 10x takes about 11 hours straight. And I do it because nobody is willing to 😆

    This is why I didn't install PE foam on my suit. it makes the choice of plate and switch not really matter as everything sounds the same. Also, as much as I loved the marbly sound, I found that after a week or two it started getting more annoying. After testing with a POM, Alu, and FR4 plate, I ended sticking with the POM.

    wow that half plate sounds amazing! would you say it makes the board sound deeper overall or does it sound more like the natural sound of the switches? Would i have wobble issues with the half plate if i have hotswap (no pe foam)??

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  2 года назад

      If you have the bottom poron later installed it's more stiff and less flex, which means you'll have less wobble. But tbh, the wobble is not a big deal nor does it bother me personally. You only see the wobble if you intentionally force it like I did in the previous video. I only mentioned wobble for half plate because some people are anal about it lol

    Random question but you notice any sound or feel difference in the alphas when running the half plate build with the pcb foam? I was considering trimming the pcb foam to match the pom half plate I'm getting but I wasn't sure if there would be a difference or if it would just be a waste of time.

    Very good video as always! Tbh I think it's nice having the board always sounding similar with the PE foam especially if that is the sound you like anyway. There are too many factors that contributes to sound in a keyboard and takes you into this endless rabbit hole of trying to find that perfect sound and feel combination. This way users can just focus on what switch feel they like more because the keyboard already took care of the sound.

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  2 года назад +1

      Yup, there is in fact too many variables that affect sound. Both on the recording end and the listening end. Different devices etc... The only thing we can do is make it as accurate as possible with a consistent setup. And it's also not good to compare one creator's setup to another, because our gear, settings and environment are also different. And thank you for the compliment!

    • @reviewforthetube6485

      Good way of looking at it tbh. Nobody really ever explains it like this. Bow I di love some clacky boards without pe foam. Sometimes imperfections in sound inst a bad thing as it makes it unique and have a bit more character but I do agree. It's nice just knowing the board is going to sound good regardless. Plus imo the Mr suit in person does sound a bit different then others In a good way a bit more lively with a bit more of the switch sound retained which is awesome lol.

  • @crispcusp
    @crispcusp 2 года назад

    Thank you again! Have to admit that when that PE foam is in it does sound pretty damn nice haha. Still a nice sounding board without but nothing to write home about. PE really makes this board! What I'd be really interested to hear (though might be a big ask) is what the Stupid Fish foam sounds like in this board. Think it'll thicken out the sound when the PE is taken out as currently it sounds a little limp. With the PE installed, who knows?! Might sound the same as the other PE setups lol, but imagine if it deepens that marble sound.. could be something very special.

    • @hardlinenexus
      @hardlinenexus  2 года назад

      I do have thoughts on the stupidfish spacebar foam. I have a few keyboards I plan on showcasing and testing them on. That will be down the line, maybe late December content. But just a quick comment on my end regarding that, I can tell you the foam to my ears at least doesn't make that much of an impact sound wise. At least the boards I tried it on. There is a measurable difference, but hard to tell still. I will be making a video on that later :)

    @BarbellBinks 2 года назад

    Idk I feel like you can definitely still hear the difference between the plates when they all have PE foam. Any metal plate without PE foam just sounds too harsh to me now. For me, this board sounds best with the POM/PC plates with PE foam for that ultimate deep, marbly sound signature

    So the case and plate foam alone is amazing without the pe foam lol BTW pe foam by itself proves this boards magic isn't only the pe foam because it's main signature is kuch differnt with all the foam. Using only pe foam as Andy showed allowed for every switch he uses to sound different. Now using all the goal combined it won't. It's just like the vega even without that board using pe foam which it doesn't anyways everything sounds similiar on it. Yet people love it and never say anything since pe foam isn't in the description. This board without any foam besides the pe foam and spacebar foam imo sounds great retains the switch sound and really just adds a bit of pop not to kuch marble since they are using such a thin thin sheet of pe foam lol but I have to say hot damn does this board sound good without pe foam also issue is most aren't using it with only case and plate foam they don't realize how good it sounds haha but take all the foam out and test and you see the sound profile is gone use only pe foam guess what it sounds really good but still retains ita switch sound use only Case and plate foam snd it has a great switch sound use all foams and it has the jelly and mr suit profile sure all baorsa with pw foam have a pe signature but absolute 0 other boards I've used with pe foam sound identical to my mr suit the mr suit has its own profile it has An amazing sound and it will be proven overtime when others try doing the same thing. But people need to stop harping on it just to be part of the haters crowd if you don't like it cool but we need it to be an option now that people have heard it some really like and always want it options are great I think companies should make a good baors with or without foam add the options for all foam and pe foam mire options is always better less options isn't as good imo regardless if you want them or not lol

    It’s a 6min vid that could have easily taken 6hrs to create not including editing. Thank you. From what I gathered with my slow, dull, and obtuse ear was that non PE sounded similar against each other and the same is said for PE. Half PE sounded uniquely…bad. lol Due to the harshness of the non PE sound I would have to favor the PE so long as the sound intent was deep or silent. Note, as a avid watcher of content I always want to hear what the content creator has to say. Objectively state the differences if any, then give your biased opinion. “I like big butts” oh wrong topic. lol

      Thanks for taking the time to comment! And yea the process is long, to rebuild the keyboard 10x (5 plates) took about 10 hours total. In regards to commenting my thoughts on it, I initially didn't have plans to do this specific video/tests plus other content deadlines, I just had to put this together as quickly as possible. But I guess the biggest reason why was I felt that the sound tests alone was sufficient to allow people to make up their own minds as what they wanted. Ideally, I can't disagree that adding my own perspective thoughts on the matter is better haha. Just limited on time at the moment.
