I’m still sad I misses out on this board and keep torturing myself with build videos but your videos are so amazingly produced. It’s so helpful for someone like me who’s indecisive. Keep up the good work!
@@hardlinenexus I might! Since who knows when the elemental 75 would come out 😞 I want only one more keyboard before I stop. This might be my endgame board.
Sounds amazing! Extremely interesting that the board sounds the same no matter what plate you use. I had to go back and listen again, because I thought I couldn't hear a difference haha. Great video as always, Haurjie!
Honestly it's the PE foam. That one thing is too strong, it's such a stand alone it can level out any keyboard and make it sound the same as the jelly/suit.
Thank you for the thorough and honest review. I personally bought all of the plates. I really wonder how the different plates would sound without the PE and case foam. Love this board so much. Looks, feels and sounds amazing. Can't get enough of the marble pop.
Very thorough video! One of the best sounding boards ever, and I’m excited to find some time in the next week or two to finally build my black & chroma Mr. Suit & rotate it into use on my desk.
Great video! Love the quality and effort you consistently put in your videos. Managed to snag a babypowder golden glossy chamfers and gotta decide the plate and foam combination to run with; so many options!
Excited to get my hands on the R2 Babypowder Blue Suit! Your notes on using electrophoresis is getting me excited for the smooth feels and clean look that I've been looking for! This might be a repetitive question, but although you mentioned that the high amount of flex cuts means that plate choice doesn't affect overall board flex that much, what are the flexibility hierarchies for the given plate materials? I'm looking for the stiffest plate possible, and I thought that FR4 was the key. Thanks in advance! Love the vids
Genuinely enjoy your content, you have a great way of approaching your reviews. Though new to the game, I'm beginning to trust your opinions over the usual 'hype' reviews out there. I was fortunate enough to secure a r2gb of this board, got fr4, pom and polycard for some reason haha. I will say that theres a slight tonal difference between them from your teating, my preference now laying with the polycarb after hearing yours. Ditto your thoughts on the mode eightys asthetics being superior but still looking forward to getting this board. Keep 'em coming brother! Would love to hear your thoughts on the mode65 😎
Well unfortunately somebody else already made such comparison and would love to see the same comparison with no foam or minimum with no pe foam since it greatly alter the acoustic and sound of the board.
@@hardlinenexus would be very helpful especially for those who are new and keep asking the differences between plate. No foam would be very appreciated. I myself only got the pom plate for r2 and fr4 halfplate and carbon fiber plate from thirdparty. I probably will get extra pcb in the future but also knowing the differences in other plates allows me to consider getting them. So yah would really appreciate it if you could make the comparison. Still nice work subscribed and liked.
To differentiate sound of plates and switches try these configs: -Remove the Case Foam only when using half plate. PE layer optional -Case Foam only -PE PCB foam only
Nah the only foam that needs to be removed is the PE foam. Case foams can stay. The PE foam itself is too strong, and that is evident in other keyboards as well that use PE foam mod or Tempest Tape mod. Case PORON foam only dampen the sound, but PE foam levels everything out and makes all plates and even all keyboards sound the same (that mod alone can make any keyboard sound like the Jelly or Suit).
@@hardlinenexus so I actually have the original Jelly Epoch foam that was modded for my GMMK PRO and also have tried packing foam. Maybe it’s the case but the marbly sound and decibel level is nowhere near the level of both Jelly and Mr. Suit. Like you, I also own every plate but have found sound differences. I tend to use clackier sounding switches like Sp-stars or Cherry Mx black and was able to hear the difference between plates even including PE layer. But once I mod the switch to lower pitch sound for example by using an Umwhpe stem, then all sound similiar
@@CMLXMNDXv decibel is only a measure of how loud a sound is, but it's not a measure of the signature of the sound. But I can maybe agree with you that different switches may have an impact on differentiating the sound signature. However, different switches are something I have yet to test. I'm currently redoing the plates comparison without the PE foam. Everything is kept the same, switches and all, for consistency. Only thing changing is taking out the PE foam, and it's already a huge difference. The suit no longer has that signature sound that it and the Jelly were made known for. I'll have the video up in the near future when I wrap up some other videos that have priority haha. Would like to see your thoughts on what I've tested, or retested.
@@hardlinenexus went for double black, 10 sec sold out. Didn’t have a second option which was my down fall so I got an overstock which got me a gb spot

Those switches sound great on that board. I think the pc plate sounds the best. Have you tried Banana splits? I just got some a few weeks ago and they blew my mind. Lol they sound so good.
the foam overload cancels every sound signature, that's not exactly good in my book. I used no foam entirely on my POM build and it sounds way more unique.

So with foam installed, the half plate didn't bring too much flex typing experience compared to full plate?

I have not tried banana splits. The tungstens are the 2nd long pole stems I've ever tried, I like their neutral color theme too

It's hardly gonna sound different with all the foam installed.
for my human ears, only a slight difference with the Fr4 half plate, the rest were the same. Owlab should not have had to make that many plates
the foam overload cancels every sound signature, that's not exactly good in my book. I used no foam entirely on my POM build and it sounds way more unique.
Not sure that it "cancels" every sound signature as much as it creates one sound signature independent of plate material
Pom is king
