      Got stabbed in the heart by the man she saved twice. Came and saved him beyond the Wall when Tyrion advised her not to go save Jon because she may die. Then saved Jon’s life again even after Jon told her who he truly was Aegon when Jon went charging at the Night King and the Night King raised the Wights and they surrounded Jon. Then Jon let Tyrion influence him to kill Daenarys when if it was Tyrion Jon would have died beyond the Wall. As Daenarys did not take his advice but went to donate Jon and Jorah because she started developing feelings for Jon. Tyrion was also pussed at Daenarys because she killed his siblings. Tyrion never gave Daenarys sound advice when it came to defeating the Lannisters because it would have ended with them dying. So he always just gave her enough and continually got outsmarted by Jamie and Cersei

      Dany should have never gone beyond the Wall to save Jon. That was her biggest mistake. She wouldn’t have lost any Dragons. The Night King wouldn’t have had a dead dragon to bring down the Wall. Winterfell wouldn’t have lost any men fighting the war. Jon would have died. Jon is the reason she even lost a dragon. He kept going looking for Wights to fight when all he had to do was jump on the dragon. I hate Jon’s Snow character with a passion

    A few episodes back, you said that it is impossible for the North to become independent. That is my one biggest complaint with the ending... there is no way the Iron Isles or Dorne would submit to a new King if the North were allowed to have independence. If the North, Iron Isles, and Dorne all declared independence, then all the other lands would as well. That is a huge hole that will always bother me about the ending. Bron being Master of Coin is ridiculous as well, but that was for comic relief. I think the dragon knows it was the throne that Dany was obsessed with and it was the reason she ended up dead.

    • @kylejohnson1308
      @kylejohnson1308 6 дней назад +2

      Yeah when the north tho huge has very little people in it and they get to stay independent? 🤦
      Then the irritating Sansa just gets to be a queen which is all she's ever cared about. 😡

    • @kennethsmith8788
      @kennethsmith8788 5 дней назад +2

      There’s reason to believe without the queen they swore to on the throne, the Iron Islands and Dorne will leave the Seven Kingdoms eventually, too. It’s possible Tyrion could forge new relationships with them as Hand. I mean, Tywin all but saved King Aerys’ throne through his administration as Hand more than a few times before the Mad King eventually ostracized him. In fact, I’d say that’s probably going to be Tyrion’s greatest challenge under Bran’s rule.
      The North, though, I think is a lost cause. Throughout its history the North has always been insular, much like Dorne, but it has even less in common with the other kingdoms. A different religion, wholly different culture and customs, a completely different history. The vast majority of Northerners are descended from the First Men, whereas the other kingdoms descend from the Andals and Rhoynar which arrived much later to Westeros. Not only do the Northmen view southerners as alien, they have the experience of losing nearly three generations of men to recent warfare stemming from Robert’s Rebellion through the War of the Five Kings (with Robb Stark avenging Ned) to Jon’s ascension to (and later abdication) of the northern throne. If anything, these experiences have reinforced an already deep bias against southerners. Sansa’s fight for northern independence is as much her responding to the will of her people as it is securing for herself a crown. At this point it’s reasonable to think if she doesn’t press for independence, the northern houses will replace her with someone who will.

  • @rahilrameez8635
    @rahilrameez8635 6 дней назад +11

    If the North can claim independence, why wouldn't the Greyjoys and the Dornish wouldn't want it too. Hell both those kingdoms have a history of rebelling for that very reason.

    Bran said he came all this way to be king, but two episodes ago when he was asked to be the lord of Winterfell he said “I can’t be lord of anything, I am the three eyed raven now”…bit of a pivot there.
    The only way I can get on board with Bran being king is if there is a spinoff anime where he is king by day, and at night he worgs into the body of a lobotomized criminal to fight his enemies.
    I may have thought about this a bit.

    Second part to my comment from the other day... yeah Brienne writing in the book about Jaime for me was the most emotional scene in the series. When she stops before the end, looks up to think for a second, and writes "Died protecting his Queen" is a great moment for her. Obviously it's so complicated for her but her writing down his legacy is her own closure on the personal heartbreak. To write what she did tells us that she realizes Jaime did what he felt he had to and she has decided to forgive him. Also the entire concept of the scene is so powerful if you remember years before Joffrey mocking Jaime about the book...(someone forgot to write down all your great deeds, there's still time, is there for a 40 year old knight with one hand). Jaime really thought his life was over when he got injured but in reality he did way more after he became handicapped than he ever had before. And the person who he thought was a complete nobody, who he shared a mutual hatred with when they first met, but who he sacrificed of himself to help in that moment years ago, ends up being the person who tells the world how he was a great knight. He certainly never would have thought that helping Brienne would make him famous or change the way history remembered him, he just did it because it was right and it worked out that way. Great stuff.

    Earlier in the series, Tyrian points out that some maesters believe dragons to be wiser than men. The way I always took the final scene with Drogon is that, while he was angry with Jon, he understood that, ultimately, it was her obsession with that damned throne that got her killed, which is why he took out his rage on it, by melting it down completely.

    The most emotional moments in S8 for me are the ones between Jaime and Brienne. When he makes her a Kinght of the Seven Kingdoms, when she begs him not to go back to Cersei, and when she writes about him in the book. No matter how many times I rewatch the show, that scene will always catch me off guard and break me.

  • @kennethsmith8788
    @kennethsmith8788 5 дней назад +3

    I think Bronn became Master of Coin more or less because of his position as Lord of Highgarden. The Reach, even after the war, still remains the most prosperous part of the seven kingdoms. Bronn literally went from sellsword to the richest person in Westeros. Since he’s going to be largely bankrolling the throne during reconstruction, it makes sense to put him in a position keep him mollified.
    Brienne becoming Lord Commander of the Kingsguard was a nice completion of her story arc. She, with Jaime’s help, learns the full depth of personal honor and what it means to be a knight of the seven kingdoms. Seeing Podrick as a Kingsguard, too, was a bonus.
    I could be wrong, but I don’t think Sam is a maester. Yes, it’s suggested by his garb, but at the same time, he wears no chain that I can see (like Qyburn), he’s technically Lord Tarly (if Bran decides to reverse his vows to the Night’s Watch), and he’s married to Gilly. The Citadel still communicates with him, but I think that more because there’s no one else with whom to communicate at the moment in King’s Landing.
    Of all the characters the most satisfying for me personally is Sansa’s arc. Growing and learning from her experiences to become a powerful ruler in her own right was a long road but satisfying road. It makes sense her ultimate opinion is that there is nothing to be gained by maintaining a connection to the South. The North is full of descendants of the First Men, where the South is descended from the Andals and Rhoynar, and the slim remnant of Valyria. The end of the war against the white walkers also meant the end in her mind for needing the southern kingdoms at all. I also think on a personal level Sansa will be a powerful queen, but I think she may also be the last of her bloodline, too. She reminds me of Elizabeth Tudor, who started as a political pawn early in her life and eventually establishes herself in her own right and then refuses to take a suitor. This also sets up a scenario in which Jon’s descendants may inherit the northern throne after Sansa.
    Jon spurning the throne makes sense to a certain extent. I personally expected Drogon to burn him for killing Daenerys. If the Iron Throne melted as part of that, so much the better. I tend to agree the only reason Drogon would spare Jon is because killing Jon would leave him alone in the world. There’s a theory in which dragons and dragon riders shared a soul bond that allows them to live longer and healthier. I also halfway suspect Bran may also understand the relationship, and he may be hoping to forge a new bond with Drogon via his magic.
    The most satisfying death has to be the High Sparrow and company, mostly because it’s something that was set up long before. Margaery and the Tyrells quickly realize something is definitely wrong, but they’re trapped by the Faith Militant inside the Sept of Baelor. The High Sparrow, so convinced of his victory, can’t remotely comprehend what the Tyrells are trying to tell him. Then the timer runs out, and Cersei gets her victory.
    I don’t have a problem with the end of Daenerys’ arc, but I have an immense problem with how they got there. There just wasn’t enough time developing her character enough to make it feel like she earned her ending. Compared to the rest of the series, it felt shallow, and it cheapened the experience. Hence the immense dissatisfaction.
    I don’t have a problem with Jon’s arc, but again, the rushing at the end undercuts its impact and the gravity and/or pain involved in which we should have been able to see each step in Jon’s decision making process to its ultimate conclusion. This also speaks to the tortured storyline between Jon and Dany. It’s like someone baking bread without giving the dough time to rise. It needed to breathe, and they needed more time to establish a deeper relationship with one another. We just didn’t get to see any of it.
    The war with the Night King was incredibly short lived, again, considering it was built up from the very first scene of the series. One episode was not nearly enough, and I agree that it completely undercuts the stakes that were involved. Thinking about it, there were considerably limited consequences for the Northerners when Cersei decided to keep her armies home. Even with the casualties sustained, they still won against the Night King. So why all the needless hassle to go north of the Wall, capture a wight, lose a DRAGON, and risk life and limb multiple times attempting to arrange a meeting between the two enemy monarchs? More so since the Viserion the ice dragon appeared to be the key to allow the army of the dead to cross the Wall in the first place. I’m not saying the battle of Winterfell should’ve been a massacre, but I also don’t think it should’ve been a victory, either. I think something should have happened that would eventually force Cersei’s involvement in the fight, with either her actually relenting or a coup the depose her so that better heads prevailed. I could have easily seen the army of the dead chasing the Northerners down the Kingsroad with Jon and Daenerys desperately acting as a rearguard to protect the survivors. I could easily imagine them pinned between the walls of King’s Landing and the Night King, putting Jon and Daenerys in a terrible decision that meant either the death of their forces or the death of those keeping the gates of the capital shut against them. Something to really really drive the tension up to new heights. Then, when they won, they could contemplate the consequences of their actions afterwards.
    Bran’s story was also never really explained or fully fleshed out in my mind. Would he be a good king? I dunno, cuz I’m thinking Bran as the Three-Eyed Raven seems more like Dr Manhattan than say a young King Arthur. His perspective spans much more than a regular mortal’s life, and I just can’t comprehend how making a guy whose mind is likely to be elsewhere at any given time is a good choice as a ruler who is required to be mostly present in his current time. The skills and aptitudes don’t match the job description. Sure, he knows things, but will he be actively engaged in anything? I just don’t see it, and I surely don’t believe it. (And yes, I cringed at the writers’ self-congratulatory line in Tyrion’s dialogue.) At least Jon would’ve felt the weight of duty carrying out ruling the kingdoms, probably the same way he felt about stopping Daenerys plunging the world into a whole new war. He wouldn’t love it, but he’d still do it if you plead your case right. (I also think it would’ve set up a nice push-pull storyline down the road about possibly reuniting the North with the other kingdoms again.)
    It’s all water under the bridge now, and I kinda think House of the Dragons is George Martin’s way of ameliorating the hurt felt by so many GoT fans with how the series ended.

    56:07 I agree with Mrs. October. I read the books and watched the show and I see Dany as a good person. Even before she had dragons she used what little power she had to help the women around her. She cares enough about people to learn their language. That’s takes patience and humility. Dany was able to turn a rapist like DROGO into a gentle giant because of her caring nature. She cried over her handmaids death. She cried when she saw strangers children hung up dead. No one can convince me that this is the same Dany that torched King’s Landing. Maybe if there was an entire season so flesh it out, yes, maybe. I think I made a few negative comments regarding the final seasons but I wanted to say you guys are the first GOT reaction series I've made it all the way through. I may have my gripes with the show but I'm not a "hate watcher." Reaction channels are best when the reactors are enjoying what they are watching. I started watching GOT in the summer 2011 right after the first season and the experience of being in this fandom, watching GRRMs world grow, witnessing this series become such a behemoth that world leaders comment on it, was absolutely magical and would never trade it away even if I was left wanting in the end. Your final tears was a great representation of my overall feeling of all those years. ❤❤❤

      Well said. The best part of all the great parts of GoT, was the fandom/community at the time. I can't begin to count up the amount of hours I have devoted to theory videos, reaction videos, reviews, previews, live streams... the ending could have been way better, but we also had such an extremely high standard because that's just how good the story and the series is.
      The truth is, the worst season of GoT is better than the best season of any other series.

    The amount of Dothraki in final episode always bothered me. Makes that iconic dying torch scene in the Long Night Battle less meaningful. One fan theory about the Waif killing Arya and posing as her was one rumor that refused to die. The producers of the show in attempt to put a wrench in the plans of those that would use drones or take pics from a distance to spoil for the rest of us, (like Gendry using his hammer to bash Red Keep guard head's on the beach) had Faye Marsay, the waif, seen on set in costume. The Night King actor was also seen on set after epi 3. Spoilers were a huge problem. The first 4 episodes of Season 5 were leaked. I read an interview where GoT cast/staff were throwing rocks at another drone, until they were told it was one of theirs.

    House of the dragon helped a bit to fill the void I found in my life after Game of Thrones ended, and I almost shed a tear when I found out they and an entire season of a spin-off but never saw the light of day, but there is talk of maybe a show centered on what happens to John after, soo... Kind of been keeping my fingers crossed for that, lol. Most people have reasons for feeling the way they do about the last few seasons, but my main problem was I just thought like John did, that the white walkers were the main threat, the literal representation of death and evil, and thought that they were a little too easily defeated. Just not the ending I had envisioned I guess, but overall still an epic story, and one of my favorite shows of all time. I was sadder to see it end than I was with how it ended, lol.
