Great Tutorial and demonstration of the different specifications of those Olympia models. There's one item more I'd like to mention: When the upper end of a A4-sized sheet of paper has reached the upper end of the extended paper support, you have reached the last line to write on the bottom of the sheet. It's not only a paper support but an "end of the sheet" indicator aswell. And because it is adjustable in height you can use this for any length of sheet.
Thanks 😊, Beautifully described. We had this also on the smith corona Tutorial but decided not to go into more details as some clients are just so new to typing. Worth a separate video. 🫡
Thank you so much for putting the time and content together. This is a fantastic guide for a fantastic typewriter! Looking forward to mine getting delivered :)
Very excellent and well done overview of one of the best typewriters ever produced. I like how you have provided a menu of the different topics with clickable links, taking the viewer straight to the pertinent section. Nice. While I do own a SM4 (and it's my "go to" machine), I learned a better way to lock the carriage than what I've been doing.
Thanks, The Video can be used for sure with minor changes on the SM7.. very good point as SM7 was later the base used to produce SM8 and SM9 but it has major design shifts.. . we are now filming a video on difference between SM2, 3 and 4..
Aloha, do you know if these can be mounted to a typewriter table…not a side table but one that flips to hide the typewriter? Or, would you recommend using the base of the typewriter box and clamping that down to the section that hides away?!?
Thank you for this video ! I have a question about the touch control. In my SM2, the lever doesn't move up and is stuck in the same place, somewhere around the bottom. Any idea why this happens?
😅 would wait till the end of the Video 🤦🏻♂️ 12:45
The precision of the movements, the order of the contents and the hypnotic tone of voice... one of the best tutorials ever!
Glad it helped! We always do our best to make sure info is easily accessible. More to come ☺️
A superb demonstration of a superb typewriter.
Many thanks! It is a work horse.. trusted 💪🏽

I just bought a Coco Brown SM3 in Wisconsin last week! Thank you for posting it and I can’t wait to watch it later today
Pleased to know that . We are filming the difference between SM3-4 & 2 .

Pleasure . We always aim for best videos and easy access to info 😊
Great video. The SM4 is actually similar to the more angular looking SM7 and your description on the SM4's use applies to the SM7 as well.

Great video, you help me a lot to understand better how my old typing machine works.
Glad to know that ☺️
great filming and editing. Well done.
Pleasure 😊, glad you like it.
Thank you for this!

Clamps on the base will secure the typewriter but usually I avoid.

Unfortunately not sure. Later SM2 had tension control only. I suggest checking if it’s stuck with the ribbon holder mechanism. They are too close
@@MrMrsVintageTypewriters Thank you !
How do you add and apostrophe to word with the SM4?
Should be on your keyboard
