Exosphere - Nuclear Age (Seattle, 1983)

Seattle band Exosphere's 1983 private press LP "Nuclear Age" smoothly cycles through a few different musical styles, including calypso and funk. Here, horns add punch to a melancholy singer-songwriter composition about the need for citizens of the world to rise up to demand an end to the ruling classes' jealously guarded monopoly on existentially annihilatory violence.
Although the majority of the record was penned by Ron Hendree, the title track was written by Robert Hammerstrom. Fans of Seattle's Lavender Country may recognize him as the pioneering queer country act's original guitarist. Not sure what instrument he played on this track as Sam Pannunzio gets piano credits. Hammerstrom does play piano on his two other contributions, "Mom and Dad" and "Togetherness." Hendree writes & sings as well as playing trumpet & flugel horn throughout.
