      As an appliance repairman I appreciate this video for any DIYer as it is an easy and inexpensive fix if you called a professional appliance repair company on this they would probably charge you $225 to do this simple repair unless he is an independent like me and I would probably charge you 125 to 140 has the big company with a fancy trucks and fancy uniforms play their employees on commission or hourly therefore their rates are much higher. But the real reason for my commentary is that I 100% agree with a small town girl that's a GE dishwasher is one of the worst if not the worst on the market today trust me I know I've had GE dishwashers not even two to three years old that are unrepairable because of faulty main board and user interface boards that cost more than the price of a new unit bottom line don't buy this dishwasher.

    Thanks for the video. When I pulled out the flood switch thermistor there was no wiring harness beneath it. It kind of fit into another round hole with a little plastic white tab that I can best describe as the thing that aim for on a dunk tank (should have taken picture before I put it all back together). I tried pulling, turning, etc. but didn't want to break it. Ended up cleaning a ton of gunk out of those parts and put it back together. Thinking maybe the float wasn't functional because of the build-up but we'll see. Any thoughts on where the wiring harness would be? I have a GDT model.

    • @dadfixdit
      @dadfixdit  4 месяца назад

      Hmmm…. That’s odd. Are you sure that the harness didn’t fall off when you pulled it out? Did it have a plug on the bottom ? Mine is a GDT as well. There definitely isn’t a lot of slack with the harness so it is possible that when you removed it it popped out and fell down. Look at the picture in this link- is that what it looked like? amzn.to/48s3XDL

      Hey Andrew. It definitely could be the element but the few elements that I have seen fail had visible damage. Definitely true if you’re having an issue with the flood switch portion and water won’t fill. They can get all dunked up and stuck in the up positions. You can use a little Vaseline if you don’t have oring grease to make sure it pops into place properly. Thanks for watching! Btw, if the oring is damaged don’t order a whole new switch. I'm in the same situation. No float switch. Just an empty cavity with water under the filter. Also at odds is my top cover screen. It is much smaller, and only held down by the filter cartridge. Have you resolved your no heat/dry issues? Thanks.

    • @dadfixdit
      @dadfixdit  11 месяцев назад

      @@johnnysvlog2187 it’s a pretty generic part. If you pull your existing one out and it matches I would say it’s ok. It’s very easy to make sure though by typing your exact model # into google and the word “parts”
      And you will get exploded parts diagrams. You can also check the Amazon description as it lists some compatible models.

      Thermistor? It’s a device whose resistance changes based on temperature. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

      I get what you’re saying but it’s actually a thermistor. A resistor whose resistance changes depending on temperature. It kinda acts the same way but it functions electrically different than a thermostat.
