This Rhino 7 Tutorial demonstrates some essential Sub-D (Subdivision) modelling commands and processes through the creation of a Shark form.
Techniques covered include:
1. Symmetry modeling
2. Control Points editing
3. Inserting segments
4. Adding faces
5. Merge sub-D faces
Sub-D or Subdivision is a recently supported format in Rhino. Sub-D can be used for fast and freeform modelling of 3D shapes. Rhino Sub-D is an alternative for Tsplines which is no longer available for versions 6 and higher. Хобби
Thanks for sharing. So helpful.
You are so welcome!
Super Tutorial!....thank you and greetings from Austria... :)
Thank you! Cheers! Have a nice day 😁
Thanx 4 the video. :)
You are most welcome :)
Finally received my new macbook and so exited to install rhino7 from 5, which I currently use!!!☺️☺️☺️
😁
No doubt the sub-D is improved in Rhino 7.
detailed and easy to understand instructions, thank pro!
Thanks 😁
Very nice...
Thank you 😃
thanks for the helpful videos ✨ is there an opposite command of subdivide subd?
Hmm... I am not sure. But I don't think so.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
thats a really nice video, okey 😄
Thank you.
thank you for your helpful videos! I was wondering there is any way to make openings or holes on sub-D model? I was trying but couldnt find anyway to work on sub-d model.
I think you might have to use the Insertedge or Insertpoint commands to create the segments and then adjust the edges to modify the topology. Or you could use ToNURBS to convert the sub-D to nurbs and then use nurbs means such as trims or booleans. Just my opinion.
@@simpernchong yes, to convert to NURBS worked! thank you so much
@@selin8325 You are welcome :) Happy New Year.
First thumbs up 👍 then watch . Thank you!
You're the best! Thanks for the support Anton 😁
@Darren Munsell LOL, thanks for the kind understanding.
Hi, can you please share how do you obtain the axis (red, blue and green) for protrusion and surface manipulation?
Hi, the manipulater (call Gumball) can be displayed by clicking the label 'Gumball' at the bottom (right side) of the interface, if you are using a Windows PC. On the Mac, it is at the top .
thank you
You're welcome. Happy New Year !!
Thanks bro
Thanks and you are welcome 😁
@ 6:30, is there a reason why you used the mirror command instead of reflect subd object?
Eh no really. I just am more used to the record history-mirror workflow.
Can you intersect and trim SubD surfaces against each other?
As far as I know split will work. But the result will be converted to NURBS.
thanks
You're welcome! 😁
Thanks__It s posible unroll with this sections?…………To fabricate…………Help
If I understood you correctly, you can use the Contour command to create planar sectional curves. These curse can be use for 2D cutting.
mirror is not parametrically working I did like you show. But I saw there a reflection tool in SubD I think it is not the same thing you do. It was more better in T-spline, simply you select the edge loop and it make symetries as much as needed.
Hi, you have to enabled 'Record History' for the parametric to work. The Reflect tool can be used for similar result as well. Cheers.
@@simpernchong Thank you for the tip.
thanks pc sim.
Thanks and Merry Christmas !!
I couldn't understand how you went from a rectangle to a round object
tab
@@schajuli1991 is that something new for only 7? Or was that always something tab did? I'm still new to designing
@@mfafahim1 Yes. As the title suggests its demonstrating the new Sub-Division Modelling feature introduced with R7.
@@schajuli1991 Thanks for explaining. :)
Like the t-splines :) but not a dolphin. A shark
Yep. Unfortunately T-splines no longer exist as a plugin. Frankly speaking, I prefer the inbuilt Sub-D to T-splines. It just makes more sense.
