Shofukan - Snarky Puppy (arranged by Eliot Foltz for percussion ensemble)

- A while back, I arranged Snarky Puppy's Shofukan for percussion ensemble, so I asked a few other guys if they were down to play it with me, and here's what it sounds like!
Side note: when it comes to the drum part, I tried to play a literal transcription of Larnell Lewis' playing on the album, for the personal challenge.
We had a great time playing this piece, hope you enjoy! :)

I have now listened to four covers of SHOFUKAN, and every one has been performed to upmost standards of professionalism, no matter the age of musicians. One rendition was performed by a group of high school students.
Good on you for recognizing that Justin’s sublime solo could not be improved upon. Even he has never done a better version. The fact that you rendered it perfectly is an appropriate tribute.
We are going to play this with larnell lewis for a percussion ensemble! I’m really excited it’s awesome

As a classical pianist it feels rather strange that I had never realized and appreciated how much footwork goes into playing the vibraphone. Especially considering it's also a polyphonic instrument, with a much longer resonance than the piano. It's just amazing!

The best Snarky cover! Brilliant performed! Especially the way the solo is brought out in a new light emphasing the beauty of it. Impressive drummer. Loads of control, groove, steadiness and dynamics. Gave me delightful flashbacks to Steps Ahead. Keep up the good work!

Ok I’ve listened to this and the original a thousand times each and I can confidently say this is the superior version. No diss to snarky puppy, phenomenal performance on their part, but you can’t beat this instrumentation and arrangement
