If you talk to Bernahl after killing Rykard he will say something about having inherited his brothers will. Maybe his brother was planned to be in the game and would have worn the purple version.
I'm pretty sure what he mentioned was a bosom friend which is actually referring to Rykard, and this is also why he was in the volcano Manor, check his weapon.

Quick tip: If you have two of the Beast Champion torso armor, one Altered and one not, you can easily obtain the purple cape any time by unequipping your torso armor, equipping the cape-less Altered one, then swapping to the non-Altered one. EDIT: As replies have pointed out, all methods of accessing the texture have now been patched out.

Probably trying to fit in with the whole theme as purple in general has always been the color of the highest of the highest royalty and a lot of things in ER does follow reality so a purple cape would be insanely rare find, likely more than a glowing cape Or perhaps someone just liked blue over purple.
Nah, the middle of this cape has what seems to be a twisted tree trunk, similar to the Haligtree crest, along with some flowers. The tapestry in the Debate Room is also a more reddish purple with full on gold accents, this is more blue indigo with a white gold pattern.

If you're a female character and you alter the rotten gravekeeper cloak while you have it equipped, you also get a version of the armor that is otherwise unobtainable
They definitely don’t considering so much of the meta equipment is ugly as hell (white mask, black dumpling shit, grave bird feathers (the new one is okay), blasphemous blade, what else… lmao)
Yes I had this happen to me and I thought nothing of it until I examined the cape further, I looked at it closely and thought about how it looked to have less of a pattern on it, then I equipped it again and it was normal, really strange.
Even better, if fromsoft in the DLC gives the ability to boc to dye ur armor pcs, giving more customization to the players, and we can use the crafting items to make those dyes.
I use this set quite often and I noticed this by accident but didnt even realize it was that much different from the other variation. So thanks for showing this
Not necessarily a glitch. The purple cape has a different design and pattern on it as well. Almost as if the garment was an alternate set piece of armor. Weird to design the cape but not implement it in the game at all, maybe future dlc hopefully.

I really wished that the armor altering system worked more like this. For example with the beast armor you could convert it between no cape, blue cape, and purple cape. And then maybe with the regional knight armors after defeating a certain amount of a regions knight you convert any of the pieces into that regions armor or vice versa. This would allow you to not have to farm as long for all the armors and make the armor altering system way better.

You COULD go through his questline and meet him later in the story... or you can cap his ass in the Warmaster's Shack where he's scaled much weaker than in the later game.
@@Mystic-Midnight no he drops an item called blasphemous claw which allows u to parry 2 specific attacks of maliketh where his swords glows full yellow. If u pull off the parry maliketh will be stuck in an animation for a bit which gives u time to get in a lot of hits
So I found you can warp or unequip, then once the default cape takes it's place you can just unequip it again, alter it to no cape, then equip and alter to cape to get the purple variant again. Would be nice to have it permanently but this way if you have at least 1000 runes you can keep changing it to the variant

if you go watch videos of people modding in re-colors you can see why. basically every single recolor has to be suited for each armor piece and to be able to look good in all lighting conditions. when trying to do it with mods you can tell its not as simple as just changing colors. the whole texture has to be taken into account
I somehow got the purple cape the first time I gave the armor a good look. I later assumed I must have misremembered what it looked like until like half a year later when I found a post explaining the hidden cape
This happened to me one time, and I guess because of the lighting and the fact that I wasn't really paying attention, it made me think I was frosty for some reason. Turns out it's its own thing.
This pisses me off because it implies they were working on some kind of a system where you could swap out colors and patterns on your equipment, but for some reason decided not to fully implement it. Would have really loved to see the equipment alteration system expanded to allow you to toggle on an off various parts, and not just the capes. I'd also like a witch-style hat without a head wrap*, but for some braindead reason they decided that altering any of the hats with head wraps will remove the actual hat and leave you with just the head wrap. Why? *Ranni's hat doesn't count, as it has a very specific aesthetic that makes it not match well with most other sets. Again, something that could be ameliorated if we could swap colors.
Superb, was made instantly sad when I saw warping would remove the purple cloak. Still beautiful, purple is my favorite color and you can bet I would buy it in an instant cuz I did that for AC: Odyssey when I bought that beautiful purple and gold filigree armor that also came with a bull to ride instead of a horse. It got bonus points because it was assassin oriented in its stats and that's how I like playing most game like this though when there's sorcery available I have to go that route.

dude I saw this once when I was playing and got so confused. Thought you could only see the upper texture in certain lighting or smthn. Couldn't even tell it was purple instead of blue.

No one, literally no one, has ever complained about having the ability to change the color on their gear. It is really a nice upgrade to the game even if it is just the capes to the boss armors you buy from the finger reader people would love it.
In my opinion, this is one of the most disappointing features in Elden Ring. They could have done so much more with customization. Mostly you can just remove capes. And this lowers the armor's stats? At this point why even have the option at all? There could have been several versions of each armor or different colors. I can't imagine it would have been too difficult to implement.

The pattern and color of the cape are the same as the large tapestry hanging in the Red Wolf of Radagon’s boss room.

Just tried it recently, not working anymore, it patched. Its sad, the purple cape is no longer available anymore

Still beautiful, purple is my favorite color and you can bet I would buy it in an instant cuz I did that for AC: Odyssey when I bought that beautiful purple and gold filigree armor that also came with a bull to ride instead of a horse. It got bonus points because it was assassin oriented in its stats and that's how I like playing most game like this though when there's sorcery available I have to go that route.

In case you're wondering, you get his set by killing him as he invades across the other side of the bridge before fighting maliketh in crumblin farum azula
Or kill him early at the war masters shack. But that locks you from getting the raging wolf armor as he can’t be revived.

dude I saw this once when I was playing and got so confused. Thought you could only see the upper texture in certain lighting or smthn. Couldn't even tell it was purple instead of blue.

how would players like it, if certain armor pieces. Not all, were dye-able?
Just cloth though, I don't think changing the metals of armors would look that nice

@@aiellamori I think it would be nice. Sometimes black iron or a silver could add a lot to certain armor sets, especially if some have accents to them that would too look nice

No one, literally no one, has ever complained about having the ability to change the color on their gear.
It is really a nice upgrade to the game even if it is just the capes to the boss armors you buy from the finger reader people would love it.

Purple and white are my favorite colors so this is extremely important.
In my opinion, this is one of the most disappointing features in Elden Ring. They could have done so much more with customization. Mostly you can just remove capes. And this lowers the armor's stats? At this point why even have the option at all? There could have been several versions of each armor or different colors. I can't imagine it would have been too difficult to implement.
Altering doenst just lower stats, it lowers weight as well.
