Cowboy Bebop is considered a 'space western', a subgenre of scifi that uses tropes commonly associated with western films - bounty hunting, gunfights, shootouts and a general tone of space being a lawless place that criminals and bounty hunter alike are exploiting for their own gain. The show isn't strictly any one genre, it mixes in many different styles of storytelling, and the combination feels unique even today.
As for other songs on the soundtrack to check out, I recommend Waltz for Zizi the most, but the entire soundtrack is a masterpiece showing the broad skillset of the band and songwriter.

What i read stated that the music was written first and they built a lot of the characters off of the sound... This anime is so amazing - I mean they intentionally animate Spike in higher definition when he is doing cool things, and lower definition when he is doing things like bandaged up on the couch... just the detail, characters and story line are amazing...

Armitage III is one I think too... Probably lesser known and maybe not the best, but still pretty good...
It can get a bit complicated in some ways... I think the English release of Zeta Gundam used an instrumental track, even though the original had songs with lyrics... I think Robotech might have used an instrumental track too... At least for the Macross portion (I haven't seen the other two parts)... Given that various anime used to sometimes get their soundtracks redone for various dubs in different languages, sometimes getting a completely new score and everything... That potentially confuses things...

After you mentioned it, I could only think of two other anime, aside from Cowboy Bebop, that have an opening song that are just instrumentals. 'Yona of the Dawn' and 'The Twelve Kingdoms'

what’s insane is “tank” isn’t even the best song on the ost. “rush” and “bad dog no biscuits” are more fun versions of “tank”, “car 24” is my favorite track in that it takes me places, even with it being a simple song, and “space lion” is absolutely gorgeous. the entire ost is a good time.

Cowboy Bepop is like a rite of passage for an anime fan, and I'd say it's up there with Fullmetal Alchemist as a "Must Watch". It's pretty short too, only like 30 or so episodes so it isn't like me telling my buddies to watch all 400 episodes of Bleach 😅😂

Until the 1990s,Japanese anime was produced by Japanese people.
From 2002,it became a joint production between Korea and Japan.
Japanese and Korean religious are different.
    Therefore
Japanese anime up to the 1990s and modern Japanese anime are similar on the outside, but not on the inside.
The same goes for the Japanese music industry.

これも古いアニメ(1983)なんですが”銀河漂流バイファム”のOP曲"Hello Vifam"を試して欲しいです。歌詞とセリフは全て英語です。This is also an old anime (1983), but I want you to try the OP song "Hello Vifam" from "Galactic Drifting Vifam". All of the lyrics and dialogue are in English.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of how it didn't have a strong overarching story, from what I remember, but everything else about the show is pretty top notch... Atmosphere, animation, action, the soundtrack, style... And I would recommend any soundtrack by Yoko Kanno... She's done a few great ones... Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Macross Plus, Escaflowne, Turn A Gundam, Wolf's Rain... Even if she's not doing the whole soundtrack, if she's on there you can expect it to be pretty cool and worth checking out... Not that they're all the same as this though.

Old? Seriously? DBZ is older than this. Sailormoon is older than this.
End 90s. It came on par with Trigun and OutlawStar.
"I wonder if that's what they think 2071 would be back then?" Dude, that's not the 50s or the 70s.
Also the date 2071 is 'in the past'.
