Instead of 16 (like the Haydenettes) with 4 alternates, there are 12+2....this seems to be more "palatable." It won't be IN the 2022 games, but MAY be am exhibition sport.....we haven't heard yet. This cameraman was amazing. I loved the sounds of the skates. I would have never thought it, but the sounds of skates on ice enhance music in the same way tap dancers do. Incredible!
The cameraman was amazing but internally I was stressing that he was going to run into one of the skaters so I started concentrating on that instead of watching the skaters.
I thought you the same thing about the cameraman.👍 It's the fact that it's all one shot too. No disorientating cuts, or drone shots thrown in. You're right down there, moving around with them.
I watched synchronized skating teams in competition once and was impressed with their speed and strength. All the hard work and hours of practice that must be required!
I do synchro team too and it is HARD! Every little move they did they made it look effortless. Just trying to get that many people to mohawk and 3-turn together is a feat unto itself!
They are fabulous. It is very difficult to skate on a team like this. It takes tremendous skill as a skater and athletic ability to get the timing right and be part of a team.
I skated when synchro was called Precision Team. At the first Nationals, in 1984, I skated at the Senior level (same as the Haydenettes) and we had 24 skaters on the ice at the same time. The maximum allowed now is 16. 😉
They are always off the charts. The choreography combined with the specific music (and outfits) is beyond exceptional. SUBLIME!! SUPREME!! Great camerawork, too. Funny........ It was roughly 60 F, 15 C at the time !
Same i was ljke why does that one have black skates i wonder if they got in trouble and then saw it was a guy. Lol. I guess they don't make white skates for men ?
I had to watch this several times! Great camera work also! I felt it was in the right place every time for every major move they made! And bravo to the lone male skater in the group! I am glad you were also there. What a great group of skaters! I imagine this is a great way to get exercise too, if you are athletic (I am not). But I can dream.

ice skating is not easy to excel for one person. To have a large team synchronise for a performance is world class. It took many many hours of practice to perform effortlessly. Well done ladies.

Congratulations to EVERYONE involved in producing this! The performers were wonderful. The camera work was fabulous - able to stay out of the performers' way while still capturing everything from advantageous angles. I just really want to acknowledge the choreographers - the whole performance was very well thought out and put together. The trainers who taught the skaters must be very proud. Well done, everyone, really excellent! And just one last note, to the parents and families of these young people. They obviously have been training for years, and many parents probably paid for that training. The money, the time, and the effort that you parents put in was well worth it! Thank you all for a most enjoyable routine.
This is freaking awesome! These kinds of smooth, sweeping, flowing views, especially of a group, are the kinds of shots we've only seen through animation or multiple takes before now. Absolutely amazing!
I'd heard of synchronised swimming, but had no idea there was skating too. Really hard to do! And the Winter Olympics have just opened! Maybe the next time! SO brilliant!

The synchro was so good, so precise that I only noticed the lone gentleman in their midst at the VERY end of the routine. WELL DONE!
