You know... the Evil Good Guy is really terrifying... I need to read this comic. Because people really forget that you can be evil wouldn't doing overt crime. Even the closest example of this, Lex Luther, still falls into the Classic Crime tropes way too often. But seriously, Inverse Tony sounds terrifying... just manipulating people on so many levels without fully shedding the mantle and appearance of a public hero.
It sort of reminds me of Mr Burns from the simpsons trying to be "good" and ended up more evil without realising he was. I wish we got to see more of evil Tony stark :(
"Ultimate" Reed Richards is a prime example of an evil good guy frankly though he eventually just became a straight up villain named The Maker who serves as an image of what the main universe Reed Richards could be like if he went down the wrong path. (Also Ultimate Iron Man used a giant armor to fight him but The Maker had a Hulk. One empowered with Giant-Man serum no less. Also The Maker has an army of "HERBIE Trons", I kid you not)
Who else played as superior iron man as a most used character in LEGO marvel avengers because his suit was bullet ,rocket and laser proof and because it had the shortest equipping animation

I love the idea of inverted heroes becoming a villain. They aren't blood thirsty murderer, they are manipulative psychopaths. Evil Iron Man is one of the best example of it. He takes the publics trust and manipulates them to do what he wants. Its kinda scary in its way

Hi! Hickman actually explained it in the last issue of Secret Wars 2: The timeline reset to the beginning of New Avenergs (2013) issue 1, when Black Panther and his Wakandans launch their Alpha Flight. That means AXIS and Superior Iron man never happened and most of the Marvel Characters don't know the inversions ever were created. Very few characters ever knew what went down: Reed/Sue and Future Foundation, Doom, Strange maybe, and Miles Morales (due to Molecule Man paying him back for the burger :)))))
@@kaptain187 Then how does that explain good Sabretooth and evil Havok that were still around at the time, since both of them were still inverted by the end of AXIS too? Plus Sabretooth was part of the Avengers in the OGN Rage of Ultron, which takes place during the 8 month gap between Secret Wars and ANAD Marvel.
My best guess on how Tony snapped out of being in his superior persona is when the world was reset after the battle world secret wars he was effected by it somehow. Like how Dr. Doom no longer had a deadpool face under his face plate.

I think the closest we got to a resolution for how superior Tony turned back to normal was in the pages of the Amazing Spider-man book (which had Peter running parker industries) and a conversation between Peter and Tony where Peter tried to remind Tony that they had met before and that he (peter) had even lived in stark tower for a while - sort of possibly implying that the Tony we see after the secret wars event was (possibly) a A.I. back-up now driving Tony's body (which would have laid the ground works for post "civil war II" A.I. Tony helping Riri Williams), but this was never confirmed in the Bendis Iron Man book at all. This was not helped by the fact that during this run, which had Tony look like Santiago Cabrera which i think is awesome, the book itself tied into multiple crossover events which made the series feel less like a follow-up to Superior, and more like the poorly written foundation work for the future launching of Doctor Dooms and the RiRi Williams Iron Man books (both of which were more sequils to previous event comicsthan the Bendis Iron Man run was, in my opinion, poorly planned out as it failed to explain certain changes in the iron man continuity which were made universal throughout the other books i.e. not-evil tony, the plummeting of stark industries (and rise of parker) which meant that the Avengers now opparated out of a more bare-bones facility as opposed to stark tower).
But all-in-all i find the "superior" books (thus far Spider-man and Iron Man) to be wonderful additions to these characters cannon as they've allowed for a change-up which we as readers know isnt going to be permanent, but which allow us to see the activities of our heroes through a different lense without having to go through the usual "oh but this was an alternate version from a different universe" cop-out. And also, out of the AXIS books/the titles which tied in, the Zen-buddhist Deadpool (funny) and the "worthy" Loki story arcs which were running at the same time were very good in my opinion.
To be honest, I think the readon Tony doesn't remeber Peter is because of Spidey's deal with Mephisto that changed a lot of his history and/or his deal with Doctor Strange for people to forget his unmasking
In the words of Comichistorian: "Bendis puts story over continuity".
I hate that this storyline never got any actual resolution.
I always theorized effects of the inversion spell just wore off over time.

The current good Tony is actually still an AI version of himself piloting a LMD. Evil Tony is still out there and still has a backdoor into the population. They probably just took the app down off the App store/ Google Play.

This is by far my favorite version of Iron Man, and his most compelling story. That armor is just insane.

Love the video! And the thread of Tony's AI backup is an endlessly fascinating one. The last arc in Tony Stark: Iron Man was awesome, and edged out Superior in my opinion for best Iron Man story ever told.

I agree with your closing statement. Before I got in to comics, I watched these kinds of videos on your channel, as well as some stuff on dorkly, comics explained, and nerdsync. But even now that I read comics on marvel unlimited and occasionally read physical comics as well, I still enjoy these videos, maybe even more so because I can make connections to other stories I've read, or if the video *is* about something I've read, sometimes I get a new perspective.

Superior Iron Man is still one of my favourite marvel arch, I really wished we could've had more of it ... god damn secret war :(
My guess on what happened is that when the marvel universe got recreated after the end of secret wars we got brought back to a world before the events of Axis. At the end of secret wars we can see black panther brought back to the events that happen right before the first incursion (which takes place at the start of Hickman's New avengers run, which also takes place way before the events of axis) so I just assumed everyone got back to that point in time in the 616 timeline, including Iron man.

I need Superior Iron Man vs Infamous Iron Man... I honestly think those two series were short changed and should be explored further.
Just an FYI: Since the end of Secret Wars 2 reset the timeline of Marvel to 2013 New Avengers 1 (ie: the precurser to Time Runs Out) AXIS never actually happened for Marvel characters (Richards/Doom/etc being the exceptions to this).

It is possible that evil Tony died while fighting Captain America in Avengers # 44. After all, a hellicarrier crashed while they were fighting.
I think good Tony came back because Reed Richards remade him as he was before the inversion. Remember that Reed Richards remade the Marvel universe and it would make sense form him to bring back the good Tony.

Huh. When you posted a video about an evil Iron Man taking over, I assumed it was going to be about the first Civil War storyline. That's kind of when I decided Tony was just a villain with good publicity, so this Superior Iron Man stuff doesn't exactly surprise me.

Personally i do read comics. Just that the comics I'm reading are all manga. Maybe i might read an indie comic if i found one the interests me. But for the most part i stopped reading books the take place in a universe after all the event comics. I might get back into it though. Any reccomendions anyone?
