Not many shows are as consistently hilarious as WILTY, the banter between Mack, Mitchell and Brydon is enough to make it a great show but when you get great guests like Bob Mortimer, Greg Davies or Kevin Bridges it lifts it to another level. You will not believe some of the stories that have been true.
If you want WILTY at its best look for episodes with Bob Mortimer in them, they are the best. I'd advise watching the "lies" before reading his autobiography; just saying😄
Yep, and everything with Claudia Winkelman or Bob Mortimer. But with the Bob ones, you gotta beware of spoilers. So to watch them in the right order, a compilation clip would be advisable.
'That guy' is David Mitchell and he's hilarious. In recent years he seems to generally be found on panel shows but he first became popular for his sketch shows (Mitchell and Webb) and one of the best TV comedy series ever, Peep Show, along with comedy partner, Robert Webb. If you ever find yourself wanting to get into a new comedy series, I promise Peep Show will have you in stitches. There are plenty of clips online but you should watch it in full from the beginning if you possibly can.
I love David's demenour/humour, but to this day I have still not watched a single episode of Peepshow. The snippets I've seen don't strike me as being him. Having said that, I keep thinking that I will watch it through from the start.
@@Dunk1970 Oh mate, give it a good go from the start of you can. In my opinion, it's up there with Father Ted for being one of the best comedy series ever. You really want to start from the beginning though, and let the characters evolve.
There's a reason why "Who's Line Is It Anyway" has a feel of these British panel shows with mutliple comedians on. Which is because it started as a BBC Radio show, then went to TV in the UK and then went to America. A lot of the comedians on the American version had previously been on the UK one. Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie being two of my favourites.
"That guy" is David Mitchell and you should search "David Mitchell Rants" as they are awesome. As for WILTY, Greg Davies, Kevin Bridges, and Bob Mortimer are three you should definitely seek out. EDIT - "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" was a UK show first, which might explain why you feel that it is similar to WILTY. Here in the UK, the comedy panel shows don't really concern themselves with the scores as it is more about just trying to make each other laugh.
Coincidentally, I think Who's Line Is It Anyway was the first show where points stopped mattering to the contestants. When it first aired there was some contestants caring and then when the winner had to go up and read the credits in the style of Clive Anderson's choosing, I think that turned winning into a booby prise. Likewise, decades ago I recall Ian Hislop getting a bit frustrated at losing most weeks on HIGNFY. Back then a running tally was kept of who'd won most episodes and therefore the series. Someone somewhere worked out that the comedy answers were better than the correct answers. I have to say I have stopped watching that one now though, as I think Hislop lives a bit too much in his dour bias.
WILTY is a top tier show. David Mitchell and Lee Mack are like polar opposites and they bounce off each other so well. Would love to see more of these reactions.
You sir are a legendary muppet 👌🏻👍🏻 The other guy is called David Mitchell and his rants are legendary and hilarious! He’s married to another comedienne called Victoria Coren Mitchel who’s funny AF to There’s actually a US version of WILTY that’s just started airing around 2 months ago
Yeee, finally :D Recommend to try Chris McCausland on Would I Lie To You (episode where other guests are Gabby Logan, Angela Scanlon and John Simm), then Lee Mack and Keys, Kevin Bridges and his horse, Henning Wenn and Interpol and Bob Mortimer (nearly any story of his). It's hilarious :D
This is a great show. The game is simple Lee Mack (common) , David Mitchell posh and Rob Brydon ( short & Welsh) together with four guests , it's either the players true story or a lie the teller has never seen before . Guest have included the brightest and best of acting and comedy . There are no bad episodes although it's better after the first 2 series when the formula was slightly different . Must see - any Bob Mortimer , Rhod Gilbert or Henning Wein episode .
Plus the "Victoria doesn't know this but..." episode. BUT before watching that one, to get the full effect, you need to have watched enough UK TV to have bought into the institution that is the marriage and love between Victoria and David.
David Mitchell, watch him on the Mitchell and Webb Look, a quick skit is “are we the baddies?” He’s definitely worth a watch. Watch Lee Mack on “Marie-Lee Mack’s nanny? Aisling’s party planner… .” Also Lee Mack on Graham Norton telling is first standup experience. He had John Cleese in tears.

I've seen a few reaction videos of this show from Americans and Canadians, and they have all enjoyed it. An extra feature of the show is that they bring someone on and each of the team mates from one side have to convince the other team that they have a connection to that person.
One of the best panel shows in British TV history! That Guy (David Mitchell) also played William Shakespeare in a comedy series called Upstart crow. Which is written by Ben Elton (Blackadder) and as such, has a very Blackadder feel to it. I don't love it, but it does have it's moments, especially the scenes with his commoner slave and his rival played by the brilliant Mark Heap.
For Would I Lie To You, I definitely would suggest a compilation of Bob Mortimer's appearances. (Sorry, mistyped before.)
