I am a fan of trains! My Grandfather worked for CNR (Canadian National Railway). In 1947 he bought a box car and added on to his home making the 2 ends bedrooms and the middle of the car a living area with a T.V. I love this episode and I think my Grampa would've too if he were alive to see it

DOGS!❤🤗 They're so cute! But back to the railcar.😂 The design is very cool and the interior fits the outside perfectly. They used the space very well and it's way much brighter in there than I thought.😲
I like your way to show the surrounding first and than the home itself.👍 My favorite part is the the kitchen. Again. (Sorry) I love the way it looks and that you wanna start doing something there immediatly.❤ But the whole thing is so welcoming and cozy, with a great rustic touch.

I lived in a railroad boxcar/ on private property, when I was little. It had to be pre wwII as we lived there during the war years. This is very cool. I'd love to hear the story of how they got it, and how they got approved to set it there. I'll try to do some research.
It was a troop train kitchen car from 1943 to 1955. The military mothballed it from 1955 to 1974 when it was brought back to serve the Strategic Air Command as a mobile communications platform. The Colonel in the Air Force (and former owner of our house) bought it at Military Surplus in Florida in 2005. He brought it to the house via rail and then trucked it to the property and set it on the 125' of rail he laid with the original intent to make it a guest house but never ended up doing anything with it. We inherited the car with the purchase of the property in 2016 and spent 8 months taking it from rusting hulk to what it is today.

I’m thinking you could get very close to the look of the original by setting a shipping container on top of some track and a pair of trucks. Then take it as far as you care to.
It would have been cool if they stuck to the platform theme and used platform benches instead of those chairs!
This is a very nice build. As you stated, the owners created a warm and beautiful home "Full of character and charm, this Airbnb is definitely worth going out of your way to visit." I appreciate it, Levi, that you answered (the possible audience) question about the process the owners went through to get the train car to their property. Speaking of the property, it appears to be a very tranquil space. Correct me if I'm wrong, Levi, but is that a lake behind the train car? I noticed something that appears to be water behind the train car, maybe an indication of a lake.
Likewise, the bamboo landscaping offered a beautiful esthetic to the surrounding outdoor space. I'm a visual person Levi, when it comes to (naturally or manmade) landscapes and architecture exterior design. The outside of the things, as mentioned above, draw me in. Still, the intentional inside design element will keep me in and coming back. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay...cute dogs, horse shoe-pit, planes to watch and blue skies!
It's a water shed. Basically run-off from the heavy rains. It usually remains full most of the year depending on how saturated it is.
