  • @lengaming1651
    @lengaming1651 6 месяцев назад +11

By using a VFD and a 3 phase asyncronous motor, you can gain a lot more flexibility by precicely adjusting motor speed with a potentiometer, or analog signal from arduino. -Which you could use for precise testing and run in of the blower etc.
You can easily get your hands on a used motor on ebay etc. They are mostly cheap. Just check that they are 3 phase, and can operate on 220-240VAC/400VAC, and what rpms they can do at 50Hz. You can run these up to over 90Hz, just with the inconvenience of losing torque past 50Hz.
VFDs can also be cheap, just pay attention to its specs when it comes to operating voltages, single or three phase input, and ability to adjust output frequency by 0-10v/0-5v signal, 4-20ma signal etc. Used ones usually work well enough too.
Of course, make sure that the motor doesn't draw more current than your VFD, and that your power supply/load fuse can handle the nominal current draw of the VFD.
Complete setup is usually very simple to set up and use for experimentational purposes, with LOTS of flexibility both mechanically and electrically.
Both 4 strokes and electric are icky, but it would surprise you how much more you can use the electric motor for in this exprerimental/testing phase.
Would be glad to help further!

The only problem with overblow reflow is that it will super-enrich your fuel too much.
Unless you have post port injection, you will be stacking fuel to the point of excess almost instantly.
If you were just recirculating air, it would be fine, but if you keep drawing air through the carburetor, time and time again, its going to pull more and more fuel with each pass, and even though the amount may seem small, it will gradually get richer and richer.

  • @tcrenegade
    @tcrenegade 6 месяцев назад +1

Awesome to see you still making progress! I can very much relate to the not replying to messages and emails. It seems to be related to anxiety.
But I think you may be starting a bit too experimental and I think you're going to be chasing your tail using the volvo MAF. First of all, MASS air flow sensor measures MASS of air entering the system not the volume, this accommodates for pressure and temperature to an extent. Its also very important to keep them clean in order for them to stay withing calibration. In normal operation they "hot wire" themselves on startup, typically prompted by the pcm, in order to burn off any dust or residue on their wires. MAF cleaner is often used when the MAF is dirty enough to burn contaminants on the wires on upon hotwiring.
I'd stay away from the compound setup for now since thats going to be an engineering and tuning nightmare requiring a lot of optimization within the setup. Start by isolating everything a much as possible. The 4 stroke is a great idea but if you can source an electric motor to run the supercharger independently while it feeds the 2 stroke that would give you a huge amount of testing potential. You could monitor the supercharger speed and precisely control it.

Dette er mye mer normalt enn du tror og det finnes god hjelp å få 😊

Have a look at IGV inlet vanes for the turbine, you might be able to reduce the massflow maybe.. You can make some fixed angles to test. Diffuser vanes would surely do the trick (they move the whole curve from left to right) but they are much harder to make, around the outlet of the impeller. IGV should be doable for you I think but they do have less control range (it is more like tilting the curve around a fixed point way on the left on the graph). I can't wait to see what you will achieve with this setup !!!! Keep up the fun stuff !!

I understand why you are going this way for your YT channel but back in the 70's 50cc road racers pretty much got it right. High RPM is where the power is at. I port 2 strokes and race them in Moto X for years also fly rc and a few years ago got my son into off road RC nitro trucks and 3.5cc engines make 3.5hp @ 36,000 rpm. Just build a 50cc version and runt it on nitro fuel and you are done. All that said I do think you are doing a good job of proving these ideas out. Your builds are ambitious and creative and I hope like hell you prove me wrong.

One benefit to using an off-the-shelf engine like you're going to do is that they have governors on them. That way, you can dial in the disc brake and later the water brake dyno with something that runs at a more or less constant speed.

An opposed piston engine has so many benefits: it solves the timing issues, it provides more room for the ports, you can short stroke it, the gas flow is simple

Now I'm fine with it, but its mainly because I'm crazy.

Heat goes up,exhaust in the HEAD, ( FOS without exhaustports in the cilinderwall ) Without an exhaust port in the cylinder wall you would have an effective cylinder capacity of 38 CC compared to 25 CC with an exhaust port. Then you can have a bigger combustion chamber, so bigger explosion, so more power. Comparable to 80cc engine. 30HP ???

    First things first...
Having ONE system that 'compresses'(blowing) air into it´s own intake will NEVER create boost.
The same amount of air going into the charger are coming out of it, creates status quo..
One thing was correct though it will create heat..
And hot air is less dense = no power....

Again, consider poppet valves and valve placement in the head!
There's no rational reason, like at all, to put the valve anywhere else.
Seems it only has downsides with no potential benefit. No need to keep it kind of "regular two stroke style-ish" at this point, this isn't a common two stroke anymore anyway!
    GO UNIFLOW!
You could even get a properly working head right away and you get the main benefit of a valved two stroke:
    Uniflow scavenging!
Feels like you're a bit hung up in the whole two stroke exhaust valve concept and therefore can't see the light - which is a valved head with full circumference inlet.
Whatever you'll do, you got my support and I'll be here to watch anyway. Just seems kind of stuck - which I know all too well myself.
Anyway, keep it up and good luck!

Rotary sleeve valve like the Rolls Royce Crecy engine.
Watching a second time since you got me thinking about it with all the rotary valve stuff.
It's a system with complications not sure if the whole system could pull the RPM but they made some serious power back in the day, blown 2t.
Then some of the aero engines where using compounding using a turbo impeller to drive the crank and make even more power.
Or the 2 stage compressor setups with a supercharger feeding into a turbo charger.
    I'm along for the ride.
Also got social problems don't feel obliged to reply.

I just thought about your oversized blower: Using and controlling a variable speed gear might be a bit too complex. But what about using an electric (brushless-)motor for driving it? Maybe this works also for controlling the power. At least you may control the blower via an arduino or so to link blower output to whats needed. Just a thought... Have fun!

20:00 immediately relevant information... sea level corrected air density to 20*C 80% humidity. "the voltage on the mass air flow is SAE metered for the exact size of the 'make/model' diameter of intake pipe... for equal fueling under emissions standards. so the max air flow on the sensor would be metered as the air flow that is stoichiometric to the power that engine system made, so what was the biggest engine that mass air flow sensor was installed on from the manufacturers? ... if that was a 1990 ford MAF's the upper range would be about 390hp of stoichiometric air flow after rotational engine losses something like 1100cfm to max out one of those specifically. "wide band exhaust sensor 🤔"

Had a thought concerning your transfer port one-way valves. Pedal valves from a 60s era Dyna jet pulse jet engine, which are still available. What you describe with the store seems like a quite typical panic attack. They don't need to have any significant kind of psychological signs, you don't have to feel actual panic/be frightened at all, they can be almost exclusively physical in what oneself perceives.
Also, as someone else mentioned - Ever got checked for ADD/ADHD?
In adults it's not necessarily primarily a mere disorder of one's ability to focus, it can instead mostly present as disorder/lack of internal motivation, which is hard to describe and doesn't necessarily mean what many would think intuitively, and a disorder of executive functioning.
Things like the "reply avoidance" and then being a certain kind of overwhelmed or stressed because of the outstanding replies that tend to further accumulate, leading to even more stress and less likelihood of actually replying etc. - or something along those lines anyway - is a well known behavior and I've noticed a few more signs in your videos/behavior over the years.
Can't put my finger on what it was right now, but it led me to suspect you might be a ADHDer as well for quite a while.

    You have a blower.
    Maybe feed the cylinder directly.

That’s how Detroit 2 stroke diesels are built.

Hey Alex just something, that I am left with here.
Are you trying to measure Air Flow (MAF sensor) or Air Pressure (MAP) sensor at this point?
I can see you have a MAF sensor and then you talked about Pressure 1.4 Bar.
I suggest you measure one thing at a time.
To measure flow connect the MAF to the intake of the Rotrex as that is what a MAF sensor is designed.

  • @goldcountryruss7035

I'm beginning to think your problems have to do with too many variables and excessive mass and friction in the engines external chain drives. Please look at AlexLTDLX here on YT. Then consider going back to your best performing basic engine and how best to electrically supercharge it including methanol/nitro injection intercooling. No chain drives, use conventional piston & rings, and no power lost driving the blower. I would put a small carb on reed valves to run the engine at idle & part throttle then pressurize the crankcase with air & metered fuel from the blower. The positive pressure in the crankcase would keep the reeds closed so all air & fuel would come from the blower & intercooling nozzle. Fuel mixtures with alcohol or nitromethane are far less critical than gasoline so really fine control at WOT should not be critical. Just don't give up, we are all rooting for you.

  • @HulluJanne
    @HulluJanne 6 месяцев назад

If you have too much flow from the Rotrex, maybe divide some of it straight to the exhaust port to prevent gas flow. But of course it would need to be timed exactly... So maybe a plenum/compression "expansion" chamber with an electrically controlled valve?
