Also for your terror bolt, craftsman makes a ratchet that work normally as well as twisting the handle actuates the ratcheting mechanism so you rotate your hand to tighten and loosen instead of swinging the whole ratchet back and forth. Amazing for tight spaces, or a 90° degree drill adapter would probably save a lot of pain and time.

    When, as a child, I was asked what my plans for the future were, I replied that I wanted to be the man who repaired the wheels and frames of the local supermarket shopping carts. Needless to say, there was a good deal of sarcasm in the teacher's feedback as he derided me for such goals. All I could tell him was, "Yes, maybe so, but think of the gratitude and how satisfying it will be." Today, 60 years later, as an old machinist, I see the same surge of satisfaction in you. Follow your star.

    Life is perfect, we just have to arrange our thoughts and breathe fresh air to harmonize with it. Yesterday my Gilera runner sp was stolen approx 11:00. By 12:30 The police had video of the perpetrator on a USB-stick. Then I thought, what can I do myself. I went to the Square in-between the food stores with a picture of the Gilerafan and a 24 pack of lager and a pack of smokes. Within a minute I was cheering with my fellow humans and had positive identification and a adress. After a 5 minute walk I was outside the residence of bike skeletons. I sat down and listened. After a relaxing meditation for an hour in the Swedish bleached spring sun I could hear an angry bumblebee in the distance. It was "Acurella" . The smile on the face of the rider was priceless, I could only feel glad for him so short, because I knew he would cry soon. Now its time for a shower then the ride of the day to work, on my beloved "Acurella". PD. If i have it in me I'll drive by Norway on my way home from Jämtland this summer, be aware ;) DS.

    Hi Alex, isn’t 20:1 compression ratio way to high? Why is it higher than conventional 2-stroke? Normally with blown engine you reduce compression ratio??

    • @2STROKESTUFFING
      @2STROKESTUFFING  4 месяца назад +1

      It's high, but Methanol is knock resistant, and I'm only running 30% nitro. High compression cause there's no tuned exhaust so I don't have to reserve energy for it.

    • @nerd1000ify
      @nerd1000ify 4 месяца назад +1

      It won't actually be 20:1 because during the early parts of the compression stroke the ports are still exposed, and while they are blocked by valves they do have significant dead volume between the ports and the cylinder which charge can get displaced into. Normal 2 strokes (without a tuned pipe) suffer even worse from this because their exhaust port is open to the atmosphere during the compression stroke, to the point where you can more or less assume that no compression happens until the exhaust port is covered, instead mixture is just displaced into the exhaust pipe.
      A general rule of thumb is that above 15:1 or so you no longer gain power or efficiency, and may actually lose it. This is largely due to the increased friction from the need to seal against very high combustion pressures. Diesels of course go much higher, but that's because they need more heat in the compressed air to ensure ignition of the fuel.

    • @ruudbakker4696
      @ruudbakker4696 4 месяца назад

      @@nerd1000ify hi. Good point as well with the dead space. Didn’t think about that. But eventually how he runs his compressor will decide if that has a big influence or not? You can compensate the volume loss by adding volume. Obviously you than loose power mechanically. I once drawn this idea and I remember having the rotary drum valve as close to the cylinder wall as practically possible. Even if he ‘only’ gets 1,5 - 2 bar in that cylinder before the exhaust port closes it is still a very high cilinder filling?
      Isn’t the limiting factor on conventional 2 stroke just the knocking of the engine? Your piston is just a single ring which seals plenty enough?
      Also forgot he runs methanol, thanks Alex for the comment. I don’t have experience with that on combustion engines. Feels high, but usually you know your stuff so I hope you are right.

    😂 That looks kind of like the type of carb you find on a backpack, blower or chainsaw... Super sized!
    Self-metering by flow. It should work well with a blower on top of it 💪

      A friend of my girlfriend wanted some numbered tags for disc golf. No clue what the numbered tags were going to be used for, but I thought glittery purple a suitable color for something disc golf related😁

    That engine has certainly got a 'nasty' bark to it! I wonder if it would be possible to make a float bowl setup for that carb?

    Even though you started WFT 6 years ago I must say I admire you perseverance making worlds largest 50cc motor.
    I imagine it will make around 33~34bhp on nitro-methane at 28,000 rpm?
    It was great to hear it running

    CONGRATS!!!! Two suggestions, first, please buy a proper straight edge rather than using a ruler. Second, get a 90-degree drive adapter to be able to tighten the Terror Bolt.

    To solve the exhaust problem, have you considered a twingle (split single)prototype? O know It could add a Lot of extra moving parts and points that can fail but... It Just appeard in my head this Idea.
