Yes this is so true Bernard. I have such a new perspective for horses now because of what I’ve witnessed through these videos. I never knew how well they communicated with us and each other. Uniek is so majestic and such a great leader. She knew Risey had to mature with the other young colts so she pushed him away gently but firm. She then went back to work being the leader of the herd. The level of her intelligence is very high, She understands very well what’s expected of her better than some humans. I hope that Hollywood is watching this is what should be in the movies. Hale to the Queen.

Do you know how many births Uniek has had, and how many were still born? I’m new to the channel and don’t know her full history. But so far I know of two still births 😭

Queen Uniek is such a loving mem to Risey. Even when mems are over it and ready for some peace and quiet, Queen still nurtures her baby boy. So lovely that they had the opportunity to get through the weaning process so gently. Also, I absolutely adored seeing Waloubet so happy to be in with another horse. Her flagged tail and happy dance was precious. Maybe if she were introduced one by one for a while, she wouldn't seem so scary to everyone and she could one day join the herd like Sjors. She would be so happy! Now, the tractor 🚜, on the other hand, will never be anything but scary, lol!
A growing friendship with the matriarch (Uniek) will empower Waloubet, who I see as a gentle and very smart horse. She wants friends but won't be a push over. Sjors is older but I think if he tried to overwhelm Waloubet, she would give him a few lessons about being polite, and I think Uniek will take only so much bossiness from the gelding since she doesn't have to worry so much about RS now. We'll see!
Such a delight to see almost a dozen horses in the field, without bridles, and you can identify each one immediately. Shows true devotion to these wonderful animals.
What a difference from when Risey was a skinny little foal so unsure of himself to now when he is a well on the way to adulthood. Queen Uniek gave him such a good start in life. I don't know anything about horses but this has touched me deeply. We can learn much from the animal kingdom. Thank you for sharing their story and the other horses.
a perfect job of weaning in my opinion.....I am touched by how sensitive you are to their feelings and adjusted the weaning process accordingly....uniek and risy are much better off for it...always love seeing a group of friesians and especially all the minutes I got to see the once in millenium friesian today
What a great job weaning! We did not breed our mares back, so we were able to wean them naturally, more or less. By 8 or 9 mos, mama was tired of nursing a big baby! We separated them & after a day or so, both mama & baby were already adjusting. Of course, putting baby out with a few friendly young friends helped a lot;)
So happy that this is the way Risey is being weaned. It seems to be less traumatic for both of them. I so love their relationship. They both are so special. Watching them is the highlight of my day. So sorry you have knee pain Yvonne. Glad the medication is helping.🇺🇸

So beautiful! Rising Star and Uniek love each other so much. Love how Yvonne gave them more time together because they weren’t ready and then Uniek let Risey continue to nurse for a few days. Finally she told him it was time to be a big boy. I cried. Precious!
Uniek is so sweet to go to Rising Star to let him nurse. Such a gentle way you have of weaning them. So much better than most other places I have observed. Much less stressful. Real life comes soon enough.
I think this shows that the horses can figure this out themselves. With a tiny bit of guidance from people. The mare knows when its done and over. Thank you for sharing Yvonne!
Wow, Yvonne, this certainly is in the top three fascinating video's you've posted! Fascinating to see how the weaning process worked out this time with RS and Uniek. RS drinking Uniek's milk over the fence was very touching, as well as them two getting nose to nose. 😢 It really is satisfying to see how over the days they were more and more at peace with being separated. Also fascinating to see Uniek together with Walou in the outside arena! 😯 I liked it, perhaps this can bring a breakthrough for Walou to be accepted by the herd... certainly hope so! I wonder if it's working with Uniek and Walou cause Uniek is so comfortable in her position that Walou just doesn't come off as a threat that needs to be put in its place.
I was wondering if Waloubet's blanket helped tone down her light color. I read in the comments from the other video (where Geertje chased her) that some horses may not be used to a gray.

Weaning went a whole lot better this time, and Uniek was definitely OK about it!! That was awesome that you let them visit each day, and the last day you can tell Uniek definitely ready considering she wouldn't let him nurse and walked away a few moments later!! Hope you're feeling better Yvonne!! I, as well have knee problems, and there are days the pay is so intense it makes daily life harder!!
I think she wouldn’t let him nurse because of the other two foals there. She was annoyed by them every time she was there to nurse and say hi to Risey. When they are outside, she never allows them to be so close to her.

Awe Risey. 😭 This is just heartbreaking, but it has to be done. Even cute little boy babies gotta grow up sooner or later. Risey had such a rough start, but thanks to the Queen, he will be a magnificent horse when he fully matures. This boy is special. He is going to be spectacular no matter what he's trained for!! I love how on that first day of RS weaning Uniek goes out, calls to check on RS and when he answers relaxes and goes to eat. She then Gomes back in and had him nurse both sides of her udder. So gently done. Lovely to see 🥰

I had no idea the horses were so fearful of everything. They are such big and elegant and beautiful animals I would think they would have more confidence.
I’m not an expert but I just enjoy watching Yvonne and everyone. The fact that Yvonne felt that it wasn’t right until Uniek was ready and slowly saying her “goodbyes” to Rising Star and allowing him to comfort nurse until he felt comfortable speaks volume of Yvonne’s character and the whole Stal. And to be truthful for us too 😉. Thank you Yvonne and Stal G! Can’t wait for more.
I love this show. If I had mula money I would back a series on the life on the farm with the horses, Yvonne, her family and so much more - I watch this and it calms me down from the world politics - we all need a little of this -

There will always be a special bond between Uniek and Rising Star. I enjoy the visit to each stall and hearing their names. It is so hard to watch but, Uniek stops for a few special moments with RS. What a tender mother she is.
If your doctor recommends a knee replacement, do it. You won’t regret it. I’ve had both knees replaced, and my pain is practically nil, and I can do so much more!

Giving up Mom is hard, but I think your way of weaning is great. Mom and foal get to see each other and letting Risey nurse in his box with Uniek outside gives him comfort while building his self-sufficiency. It also allows Uniek to decide when she is ready to go back to her box and leave Risey with his friends. The lives of Risey and Uniek are almost like a fairy tale. The way Uniek called to Risey when he first arrived and accepted him as her own was truly amazing to watch. Her devotion to him has been unwavering. He has been brought up happy and safe and well loved by Uniek and Yvonne and the rest of the group at the stable. I think it would amazing to one day see Faya riding Risey in competition. What a pair they would make, the golden haired girl and the red-head Frisian!

Yes, thank you for mentioning Risey's sweet face, his eyes half closed in relief and pleasure while nursing for his final times ... getting a bit teary here ... But thank Heaven and Yvonne for the distractions of Risey's buddies beside him, and the mounds of sweet hay in front of him, he'll, they'll ALL make it through !

This is just so beautiful to see I myself have had to go through what uniek had gone through as one of my Arab mares lost her foal but we managed to get her another foal and their bind was and still is so fabulous and loving to watch a terrific wonderful mother and a beautiful loving foal keep up all the wonderful love you give to these most beautiful loving horses 🐎 ❤️ 💙

a perfect job of weaning in my opinion.....I am touched by how sensitive you are to their feelings and adjusted the weaning process accordingly....uniek and risy are much better off for it...always love seeing a group of friesians and especially all the minutes I got to see the once in millenium friesian today

What a great job weaning! We did not breed our mares back, so we were able to wean them naturally, more or less. By 8 or 9 mos, mama was tired of nursing a big baby! We separated them & after a day or so, both mama & baby were already adjusting. Of course, putting baby out with a few friendly young friends helped a lot;)

So beautiful! Rising Star and Uniek love each other so much. Love how Yvonne gave them more time together because they weren’t ready and then Uniek let Risey continue to nurse for a few days. Finally she told him it was time to be a big boy. I cried. Precious!

Uniek is so sweet to go to Rising Star to let him nurse. Such a gentle way you have of weaning them. So much better than most other places I have observed. Much less stressful. Real life comes soon enough.
I think this shows that the horses can figure this out themselves. With a tiny bit of guidance from people. The mare knows when its done and over. Thank you for sharing Yvonne!
Wow, Yvonne, this certainly is in the top three fascinating video's you've posted! Fascinating to see how the weaning process worked out this time with RS and Uniek. RS drinking Uniek's milk over the fence was very touching, as well as them two getting nose to nose. 😢 It really is satisfying to see how over the days they were more and more at peace with being separated. Also fascinating to see Uniek together with Walou in the outside arena! 😯 I liked it, perhaps this can bring a breakthrough for Walou to be accepted by the herd... certainly hope so!

I was wondering if Waloubet's blanket helped tone down her light color. I read in the comments from the other video (where Geertje chased her) that some horses may not be used to a gray.

I think this method is less stressful for them both. By increasing there separation time and putting RS with others that are already weaned and calm.

Weaning went a whole lot better this time, and Uniek was definitely OK about it!! That was awesome that you let them visit each day, and the last day you can tell Uniek definitely ready considering she wouldn't let him nurse and walked away a few moments later!! Hope you're feeling better Yvonne!! I, as well have knee problems, and there are days the pay is so intense it makes daily life harder!!
I think she wouldn’t let him nurse because of the other two foals there. She was annoyed by them every time she was there to nurse and say hi to Risey. When they are outside, she never allows them to be so close to her.

Risey had such a rough start, but thanks to the Queen, he will be a magnificent horse when he fully matures. This boy is special. He is going to be spectacular no matter what he's trained for!! I love how on that first day of RS weaning Uniek goes out, calls to check on RS and when he answers relaxes and goes to eat. She then Gomes back in and had him nurse both sides of her udder.

I had no idea the horses were so fearful of everything. They are such big and elegant and beautiful animals I would think they would have more confidence.

I’m not an expert but I just enjoy watching Yvonne and everyone. The fact that Yvonne felt that it wasn’t right until Uniek was ready and slowly saying her “goodbyes” to Rising Star and allowing him to comfort nurse until he felt comfortable speaks volume of Yvonne’s character and the whole Stal. And to be truthful for us too 😉. Thank you Yvonne and Stal G! Can’t wait for more.

There will always be a special bond between Uniek and Rising Star. I enjoy the visit to each stall and hearing their names. It is so hard to watch but, Uniek stops for a few special moments with RS. What a tender mother she is.
This was as gentle as weaning can be, I believe. Great to see. It seems like they’re okay with it and they still get to see eachother.
If your doctor recommends a knee replacement, do it. You won’t regret it. I’ve had both knees replaced, and my pain is practically nil, and I can do so much more!

Uniek is such a wonderful Mum. I can’t believe how big Rising Star has become, I remember his first day with Uniek when he was so small.🥰
I miss the days when Risey was a youngster. He was so adorable. So sweet.
Giving up Mom is hard, but I think your way of weaning is great. Mom and foal get to see each other and letting Risey nurse in his box with Uniek outside gives him comfort while building his self-sufficiency. It also allows Uniek to decide when she is ready to go back to her box and leave Risey with his friends.
The lives of Risey and Uniek are almost like a fairy tale. The way Uniek called to Risey when he first arrived and accepted him as her own was truly amazing to watch. Her devotion to him has been unwavering. He has been brought up happy and safe and well loved by Uniek and Yvonne and the rest of the group at the stable. I think it would amazing to one day see Faya riding Risey in competition. What a pair they would make, the golden haired girl and the red-head Frisian!

Uniek is such a devoted mom! It was super sweet when she kept stopping to see Risey. Yvonne, I hope your pain improves. I have chronic pain so I can relate. One last thing, I love how huge the stalls are! So nice for them!
This is just so beautiful to see I myself have had to go through what uniek had gone through as one of my Arab mares lost her foal but we managed to get her another foal and their bind was and still is so fabulous and loving to watch a terrific wonderful mother and a beautiful loving foal keep up all the wonderful love you give to these most beautiful loving horses 🐎 ❤️ 💙
