The Final
San Diego Dynasty v. Seattle Naughty Dogs
Recorded: Thursday, May 25th 2006
The Smart Parts Paintball World Championships was a one off event organised by a group including the Gardner brothers and some NXL franchise owners. After a number of previous attempts to sell tournament paintball as a viable TV prospect this was a huge expensive last hurrah of the era which ultimately failed. This is early Xball with larger fields, longer matches, penalty boxes, sideline coaching and semi-automatic markers.

as a former tournament paintballer let me say - this is the most 00's thing that has ever happened
00s?
Ahhhh so you were in reality trash at paintball since the vast majority of you coked out spazy speedballers couldn’t play worth a shit lmao.
haha hell yeah brotha
I miss those days.
early 2000s were the best
Oh the golden age of paintball😊
this was the best era of paintball ever
I was on my way down to cedar city Utah to play the Utah summer games paintball tournament back in 2005 and actually bumped into John Almera from dynasty at the gas stat In the middle of no where. He hooked me up with a badass dynasty NXE pack and tank cover just cause I knew who he was lol. I’ll never forget it.
As someone who used to live in Utah that's amazing
lmao i live in Cedar City, UT
I was one of the lucky ones to play during this age of paintball. Almost even made it to the NPPL! Ah the great memories.
I’m sad. I almost got into it during what seems to be the “golden age” now. bought a gun and everything, and watched this stuff, but only did it a few times.
I miss everything about the 2000s maaan
I remember watching this when these episodes where first aired on television. Good times 🙂
paintball was recorded so much better back then
Oh wow nice to see this again on youtube :) I reffed this event was 2 days before i realized we were below a casino LOL
Greenspan just won another championship with Dynasty in 2023 unbelieveable where did the time go
There are some amazing hype videos with motivation speeches from paintballers in the past that I miss.
I use to live in a hotel in Kissimmee called home sweet homes Niki burg by old town… and as kids we use to huddle up in my room with other unfortunate kids and watch this I’m now 32 still playing competitive paintball and always look back at these videos and remember the way I use to dream to own a smart parts gun now I own a geo4 cs3 and a cs2
Bruh live the dream... own a SP gun ;)
The glory days of speedball. Man how I miss it!
as a PSP and CFOA player from 2006.. it was a outstanding time to play
I played Amature A in NPPL against Naughty Dogs, Avalanche and Dynasty a few years before this in 10 man. It was the year Naughty Dogs killed in the pro division. Had a ton of fun doing so with my Bob Long Defiant tricked out.
Holy shit, just stumbled on this. I remember watching this on ESPN back in high school. What a wild nostalgia flashback.
Will always have a soft spot for Dynasty. I took my GZ Intimidator to Pev's (their store), they had an event that weekend so took it with them to have the actual Bob Long tech fix it. It apparently got all squared away, they had their weekend, came back... and the airport folks had stolen my marker from their luggage. Because the GZ was no longer in production, they hooked me up with a brand new 2k5 Alias. Really cool of em.
i wonder if that marker is sitll floatin around
My mom took me out of school for the day so we could go and watch. I got a blurry pic with troll...an awesome lifetime memory I'll never forget
I remember skipping school to go and see this with my buddy at the casino here haha it was incredible
BROOOO I REMEMBER TURNING ON ESPN TO WATCH THIS
This brings back memories, appreciate the video
The fucking good old days....
Best time for paintball
God i love watching colt get lit up. He was so dang good but such a poopy head. Hope hes grown up since then
still have my 01 alias intimidator from Bob Long...paintball guns were pretty insane during this time
Guys will see this and think - “hell yeah”
Angel had a great game! It looked like he was playing the castle field at Sherwood basically.
🖤💙🖤
The fuckin nostalgia!!
Really need to get around to buying a Shocker AMP.
Nah, get an ERA
I miss this kind of paintball from a spectator standpoint. The current NXL laning/denial of access meta, and carrying 15 pods on the field is not it.
So many less bunkers back then, compared to the modern day field layouts. I quit playing tournaments around 2008 and when i came back in 2012/2014 I was so frustrated with field layouts, things were so different.
What do you mean by 'denial of access' though?
@@TazmanianDevil381 I think he is referring to many teams going out and just taking a case on their back to shoot out a single lane for 6 minutes straight. while it makes sense, it just is boring to watch.
@@paintballertw ohhhh i see. yea i would agree with that. back in the day bumping up was harder and you were rewarded with that. i go run scrims at my local field and get to the 40 early and still have trouble finding more than 1 guy to shoot. but i guess old guys will always find something to complain about :)
I mean honestly from a spectator stand point I really don't mind how long a point lasts vs current matches. You can sit back and watch it like a traditional sportsball game I don't feel like I have to pause if I want a drink or a snack. I do love playing open layouts though where making a trade is a build up, moves have to be planned and performed instead of waiting for a gap in a lane, where shooting the guy moving takes more skill due to the distance. And I get that its expensive but can we please for the love of the game bring back at least 15bps? Maybe even some uncapped semi only where you actually have to be good at running it? And on man, even turf for big slides, so much more entertaining.
This is why the 10 man classic leagues are so much more interesting
Wow what a great upload.
Thanks, took me a bunch of time to rip all the disks and upload the whole series. But I think it was worth it.
@@TheBroz Thank you for your work!!! This is the type of content you just cant find if you try
@TheBroz Thanks for the upload! I never saw this before. I stopped playing in 05' but I kind of know Angel, Alex and Oliver a little bit. It was great to be able to see this! Would have been better if you could have edited it for Dynasty to win, buy still pretty awesome.
🖤💙🖤
RIP TIM MONTRESSOR
Great Paintball - was there any coverage for the d1 or d2 teams?
There was no D1 or D2 teams at this event. It was a one off pro only event. Check the warpig link in the description for the full details.
Oh man warpig! Forgot about that site@@TheBroz
I have this recorded on VHS
Shouldn't this be on ESPN 8 the ocho?
Oh yeah, the old Halo Hoppers...they worked "alright" except for when they didnt lol
Yeah, and GI are making teams use them again.
Out of the box they're ok, but highly modified they were spectacular.
15 bps?
Uncapped semi with stock boards.
@Tom Cole check the presentation on this.
This is what's possible when it's pre-recorded and edited. GoSports does a great job but paintball is hard to do live.
Anyone have the WGN 3v3??
As the guy who is currently starting up the national airsoft league, this is something else to watch.
The announcers are actively trying to figure out what to say. To think we let this happen as a human society is a mystery.
Nerf or nothin.
Why does this old video quickly get more views than new paintball media does haha
Cos it's a classic. I'm genuinely surprised with how many views this is picking up. Happy to see people appreciate it.
Back when a case of paint and field fee didn’t come out to 100$
Well, it depends on the field... some places would be charging 60 a case for the "cheap" stuff when stores carried it for 40.
What did Dynasty do wrong? They made more rookie mistakes, and got rookie results.
what speedsofters in airsoft think they are
45:47
Matty used to be skinny 😂lol
Dynasty😢 Take your loss. Stop acting like babies!
Finally someone agrees with me, there a lot of other teams out there
BACK RIGHT BACK RIGHT! CHECK L3 !!! ahh SHIT my MOM is here - SORRY GUYS.... I have to go home now... :(
We all know these people still all live in their parents's basements.
You sound tough, I bet you're really cool.
Paintball's pitiful attempt to be relevant.
I pity your naivety
This is from 2006, the glory days.
Is this becauae your Mother didn't let you play or were you a Chairsofter,,,and thought it looked too hard for you
You been living under a rock? 😂😂😂 Most out of touch comment
There's a great movie called Blackballed- Bobby Dukes that is a parody of this type of stuff.
