There was an actual contestant on Countdown a few years back who had a, "Good morning, that's a nice tnetennba" T-shirt 😂
Fucking legend
😂
Wait, so you're saying Countdown is a real game show and not something made up for The IT Crowd? Is the prize really just an oddly shaped teapot?
@@angolin9352 yup. its all real. that is the real set and the real presenters on the show. and the teapot is real too. you can even make tea in it.
Cats Does Countdown is the result of a "mash up night" Channel 4 made to celebrate 30 years of the channel existing, they combined some shows they make just as one shots. "8 of 10 Cats" is a comedy panel show (comedians plus celebrity guests play what is supposedly a game but is mainly an excuse to make jokes) about opinion surveys and "Countdown" is a real game show for nerds, so they put the comedians and celebrities on the game show, ha ha, right? But people loved it so much it's now a multi-season mainstream hit.
"Looks like you're on your way to win that Countdown teapot."
He's got a 64 - 0 lead man, I _think_ he's already there.
Haha I didn't even realise that until you said it, that's hilarious.
It's a very British thing for the host to remain polite like that
No offense, Jeremy.
And that was before the 18 points he got for tnetennba
You've really got to earn that teapot.
"Good morning. That's a nice tnetennba."
"Oh, thanks. Did you see that ludicrous display last night?"
The thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in
I mean what was rooney thinking?
What was Wenger thinking sending Walcott on that early?
I got a pony on Liverpool
What was Mancini thinking
As an American this episode got even better when I learned that it’s a real show
Wait you don't have that show in the US? I'm from France and always thought that we stole all our TV shows idea from the US (Who wants to be a millionaire, Survivor, Family Feud, to name a few). In France, it's called "Numbers and Letters".
@@Kuonluw Yep, here in Australia, it's called "Letters and Numbers"
@@Kuonluw millionaire is from uk
@@Kuonluw They have something called "Spelling Bee" but it's for kids. Adults? Nah...
Best part is that they used the actual presenters from the show
I just love it when the ads come on and cover most of the end of the clip. Whoever thought of that was a f@cking genius. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
I'm gonna sat calling it the tnetennba effect. ;)
Came here to say the same thing. What the hell were there thinking?
Literally just go to your settings and disable annotations.
Yeh it's fkin annoying
@@meltedcornetto3928 They aren't annotations. annotations are user created/enabled, the post video suggestions are on youtube's side of things.
I love how Richard Ayoade has the complete opposite attitude to when he does cats does countdown lol
Cant stand the man, hes a weak bi7ch.
Man, how nervous must Moss have been waiting for that A at the end? Can't have TNETENNBO, that's not a word.
That's the male TNETENNBA.
He would have been screwed if they pulled out the w in vowel form, like in the words draw, pew, or cwm.
This is something to be expected in English when we decided to remerge the letters u and v in doubled form after we separated them from just v to prevent confusion.
Not really, "Good evening, thats an awful Tnetennbo"
48 people don't realize that "tnetennba" is a perfectly cromulent word. It embiggens my mind.
indeed! you have my deepest contrafibularity, sir!
this is the funniest comment i've ever read lol... I mean, it's perfectly true too!
Yes!
So grandiloquent
@@ransherman1611 I'm phrasmotic with pleasure.
A word so awesome, it was made into a movie by Chris Nolan.
Which move
@@muhammadsaadmansoor7777 tenet
Polanski made a movie with that name not nolan
@@amolak_dhaliwal Polanski made tenant
And his 5 sisters.
The definition of ‘tnetennba’ is : "Someone who looks up words which have been artificially created for the purpose of fiction or comedy."
We’ve invited the bloody language and couldn’t find a silly word to use?
@@Trackrace29582 I haven't used a silly word now...for...well...for yonks.
Moss doesn't have to say a word, his little glances just crack me up. I can remember when Ch4 showed the trailer for this episode, I couldn't wait for it to air.
"Moss you're shaking" always gets me 😂
I came here to drink milk and kick ass, and I've just finished my milk.
Underrated.
Hey, you just stole my line....imposter :)
I just bought the shirt

Hi Moss
Where was Suzie to double check.
Dead
Too busy looking in a glory hole according to Jimmy Carr.
You don’t need to double check Moss.
Nathan Greenaway that’s true.
Hahahaha haha
Ah yes, the 'drinking my water because I already know the answer'
Also, I love how they have the actual people on it
”Tnetennba, his arms wide open!”
Aahahahaha!
“Richmond, when the servers crashed.”
This comment wins the internet.
Moss, his sails unfurled.
If only they also got Suzie Dent to say "that's in!"
His face while the clock is counting down 🤣🤣😂
Get's me everytime 🤣🤣🤣😭😭
Fun fact: The letters 'TNE' were the first three letters in the very first word game of the first ever episode of Countdown.
You're 'aving a laugh
@@BF1GUN No, it's true
That's numberwang
To double down, countdown was the first program aired on the launch of Channel 4
@@Wizardaron You didn't get the reference, dude
Moss you precious child
thats a nice tnetennba
I didn't aks you. I aksed him.
Steady Gentlemen
Good one.
Well thank you
The word in street countdown is an actual word. This one is not.
You can also use it in the following sentence. I have no idea what tnetennba is.
Technically you'd need to put 'tnetennba' in quotation marks in a sentence like that.
ROFL at the scores 64 to Moss and 0 to the other bloke. 😂😂
I only liked this comment to get you to 64 likes
He has a name you know. Its jeremy
@@harrismazari5484 Was he an actual contestant from the show as well? I wouldn't be surprised if they got an Octochamp for this!
Richard Ayoade steals the show EVERY.TIME!
They all steal it, he just runs faster when he's got it. The trouble with the others is, they just try and walk it in.
The funniest thing is realizing he's never won a game of Countdown when he appeared on 8oo10cdc.
He did. 25 January 2019. He and Aisling beat Sean and Joe by 35 to 22.
@@RFC-3514 Damn, I must have missed that episode :o
Thanks...but you missed the best part (to me):
'No offense Jeremy' and Jeremy looks at the camera in disgust.
☮
This part was pretty funny but the street countdown part of this episode was hillarious
Well done for following the first rule of street countdown!
I'll take a regular vowel please.
I just love Moss.
The teapot we all crave and you crave it toooooooo
What a brilliant show. Gonna rewatch it now for xxth time now.
Really best episode of the series! Love it!!!
Thanks for the thumbnail covering the last 15 seconds. Really great.
Did you see that ludicrous tnetennba last night?
Maybe you're waiting for him.
The trouble with Arsenal is, overnumerousness.
This show was just perfect 👌
The “Morpheus” character in this episode is played by Benedict Wong.
Years later, he will play in “Dr. Strange”.
As a character.
Named Wong.
Alongside an actor.
Whose name is also Benedict.
Gemma Chan another MCU actor is in the same episode as Ivana, later she would appear as 'female Sulu' in a later episode in the season. She is Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and Sersi in Eternals.
The count down tea pot... Thats a nice tnetennba! lol
"I was just reminded that you haven't yet gotten a word with less than 8 letters." Christ, this means Moss is pulling this little stunt on every single round...
This is why he is known as Word.
and the best part is the presenters are letting him have it every time
00:35 The other contestant is acting so naturally! LOL.
I wish someone ever told me I had a nice tnetennba.
"Nannette" is the highest legitimate word you could have pulled from TNETENNBA
What does it mean?
@@luna-p Let me use it in a sentence: "Good morning, that's a nice nannette".
@@Matejgoitka lol
Actually Abnnetent is the highest legitimate word you could have pulled from TNETENNBA.
Rachel Riley + IT Crowd. what more could you ask for
When I first saw this scene I thought Countdown was a made up game show for IT Crowd
Same.
First time this show appears in french TV was in 1965 with just words at the beginning.
I suppose that's the difference between the American viewers and the British ones.
Did anyone else google TNETENNBA after this?
Best show ever!
This was my favourite episode, without a doubt
It's good that he went on Countdown!
Good morning! that's a nice tnetennba!
That was a tennetenbatically tnetic episode 😊
0:30 I love how just Moss being there is funny.
a few days ago Moss was on real countdown and won a countdown ironing board.
I wouldn't call Cats does Countdown the "Real Countdown".
VidyaAntics oh it was. I didn’t watch the whole thing my grandparents were watching it while I was doing homework and I heard his voice and scooted in there and watched the rest. I just assumed it was the real one lmao
He's got spirit this one!
Sorry Jeremy😂
I loved the itcrowd when I was a little kid
I actually own a tnetennba and I get compliments all the time.
weird flex, but ok.
Slavery is illegal, Sir.
"I'll have a beer." AWKWARD SILENCE
Get. Him. A. Beer.
Ribena?
best episode ever
There is a rural town in Germany called Tanne. Local lumber jacks may be able to supply you with some nice Tanne timber.
0:15 notice how the score changes from 18 to 64 😂😂
You're right! It was 18 for a single frame. How odd!
love how the whole 30 seconds was left in
It actually already is a word....."Good morning, that's a nice tnetennba!"
good morning thats a nice tnetennba
I came here to do two things. Watch this video for the 200th time and drink milk.
And I just finished my milk.
What?,u didn't kick some ass too? 🤪
Gets me everytime
"Good morning, that's a nice tnetennba".
On Kindle Fire, TNETENNBA comes up in predictive text LOL!
That's nice.
An extra nice tnetennba?
I know one contender on Countdown has worn a shirt with the words on, but imagine if millions of other contestants come on the show with a Tnetennba t-shirt! I might do that too!
Hes dating my mum lol
Fun fact, the asian guy who welcomes Moss to the secret club later, is played by the actor of MCU's Wong
Benedict Wong - He was also the defiant rebel, force choked to death when Darth Vader and Ada team up in "Vader in Love" by Peter Serafinovic... Peter was in Guardians of the Galaxy. And was the original Darth Maul.
Good morning that's a nice Tnetennba
The next time I'm in California, I'm stopping by youtube HQ and finding out how the algorithm works which provides me these random videos.
1:18 That Moss is such a... card.
Wow.
Jimmy Carr looked a lot different 10 years ago.
I was playing the countdown board game and my first three letters were T N E , I was hoping is get the full word but no such luck
Were you using regular or street countdown rules.
@@Djarra just regular countdown
Cool crossover
Moss, you're shaking!
Two things about this show that stood out.
1) The mix of cast and the twists and turns of the story's were all perfectly balanced.
Not a single line was excess or fell short.
2) The live audience.
The ultimate episode in my book was S02 E01. The Work Outing.
**** Danger Don't watch it alone. ****
Best episode has to be the one at the theatre where Moss ends up as a bartender and Roy has to pretend to be disabled ... AND gay :)
Its groit craic 🤣🤣🤣
@@Puschit1 That ludicrous display and Moss kissing Roy is pretty fantastic
ok i didnt even know this was from a sitcom i thought richard ayoade actually went on a game show and did this
On 8 of out 10 cats does contdown he appeared a lot of times 😄
Channel 4 is where it’s at!
good morning. that's a good tnetennba
What's great with this is they could have had him getting only nine letter words, but they kept it to eight because nine would be literally statistically impossible.
Not in Street Countdown man.
I wish there was a season 6, but I'm happy we got 5 seasons--all being the same high quality!
There were only 4 seasons. And a one hour special a couple of years later:

Calendar geeks is pretty much crappy 😔
That's how British comedy works, leave them wanting more, unlike American comedy which is give them more whether they want it or not.
There was a channel posting illegal Street Countdown videos, but now I can't find it. Probably on account of how cold it gets outside. 🥶❄️🌨️
it's weird seeing Countdown without Jimmy Carr
Why? Jimmy Carr doesn't host Countdown. He hosts 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown. Currently Anne Robinson (as of the posting of this comment) hosts Countdown.
@@gatorgrowl7325 Comment dated "6 months ago". And yet she is still there. Will this torment never end?
1:25 the video thumbnail looks like tiny Moss head on a big Moss body 😄
Good when the letters fall in the right order though innit
Who's watching this with me I really like it.
@Gnenguin She says "a word less than 8 letters long". That's correct, "less" doesn't apply to "8", but to "long", in other words the length of the word, which is correct.
Not a day goes by that I don’t think of this scene
I believe this was part of the massive treasure hunt that took place (:
Rachel Riley..... *drool*
Almost didn't want to watch it, it was on 40000 views, cool !
Still so frustrating that the last fifth of the entire clip is obscured by a prompt for another video I also won't get to see the end of because of the next prompt again.
I died after he knew it before the countdown stared lmfao
The best word I came up with in 30 seconds was "batten."
Tenetban - as in "Try not to suggest any more tenets for our religion, there is a tenetban in place."
He is the One.
I can’t wait for Moss to be on CatsCountdown
Am I missing a joke? He’s been on it loads.
@@bfapple its a small difference between Richard and Moss, ill give you that.
The other half of the clock is for when Sir Alex Ferguson appears on the show.
12 people only scored 6 points.
i try to drop this word into many every day sentences
as an IT Crowd lover from the states I liked this episode but didnt find it hilarious...at first. When I went and found about 5 or 6 episodes of " Countdown and watched them. Now its my fav ep of the series
