I get the feeling the true intelligence of that line goes unappreciated by people, especially if they just watch these videos. I seem to recall that in the scene just before it cuts to Moss, here, the characters are talking about (or maybe playing?) golf, so it's a play on words with "fore" from the end of that scene as well. Very subtle but clever line.
@@LeytonTLA1 it was explained before, in that episode. Moss says he always gets golf confused with fire so when a fire starts he says fore, as in golf (not four the number), but it sounds like four the number and five sounds like fire so he goes fore, five, fire. Hope that makes sense, not particularly british just went over a few people's heads :)

And of course as soon as we saw it, we all sort of raced to be the first to memorise it. And now its forever the second longest number ill never forget. 😅
I heard about this show and never watched it, saw it on Netflix and was laughing my ass off from episode one to the final. Have watched the series 3 times now and still just as funny as the first time.
Tom Sivell Every good thing comes to an end way too soon. Take the inbetweeners and this, they're both great British comedies that were cancelled/ended way too soon, yet these crap reality TV shows and soaps like Hollyoaks, the only way is Essex and big brother have all gone on for 20 or more seasons and are the same repetitive boring shit.
Everything needs to end sometime. It's understandable this series ended, but it'd be more funny in 2017 with all these new jokes and technologies. But, maybe they don't want to do it again?
It'd be shit if they tried to do it again. There was enough series - I love them all - watch them at least twice a year. But as with everything that producers bring back they fuck it up and ruin the franchise, so I'm happy they're not bringing it back.
Moss and the fire never gets old the double takes before saying fire and then reading the instructions I’m not gonna lie I would read the instructions first too
My personal favorite, and my go to clip when I need cheering up, is Douglas Reynholm’s entire introduction scene. I swear, I shout faaatheeerrrr!” far too often.
Roy and Moss trying to talk to the 50/50 guy about the match is definitely top of series one for me. Roy: “All the players running up… the pitch… and running down it again. Such athleticism!” The guy: “what was Rooney thinking out there?” Roy: “Oh, who knows! That’s Rooney.” Moss: “He is a foolish boy.” The guy: “That ref, I’m sorry, that ref was an idiot.” Moss: “He was certainly the villain of the piece,” and Roy points at Moss and nods firmly and solemnly. Lol that was the moment I knew I’d love this show.
A friend of mine started sending me gifs from the show and told me about it. I got curious and watched some of the clips like these and then got the entire series on DVD off Amazon. Finished watching it last night, and I laughed all the way through each episode.
I'd say that in terms of story structure it's abit more on the likes of Seinfeld because Graham Linehan has stated that Seinfeld was a very big influence on his channel 4 sitcoms
This show is so flipping funny! I have watched it start to finish four times so far, getting ready for another round! Brilliant characters, can't pick one favorite, they are all in the #1 spot!
Hands down funniest moment is when she's going for a ride on the cart and we just see her head screaming down the hallway. I mean that one's funnier in context with the rest of the episode though.

Nice choices, but my favourite scene is when Moss walks into a women's clothing shop and says: "I'm here on purpose! I'd like to buy a pair of ... women's slacks. For me, not for a woman! I'm not trying to look like a woman. I'm not a confident man."
"I'll just put this over here with the rest of the fire."

@Suffer No Fools I used to leave fires everywhere, then my house burnt down. Now I organise my fires and so far my house hasn't burnt down.
@MEanME why should I? My house isn't on fire yet, so my system works.
At work we have extra petrol to deal with fires.
Depression FTW!
The best moment is when at the theatre, Jen turns to get “disabled” Roy a whisky and sees Moss working the bar

"Four! I mean Five! I mean Fire!!" hard to pick a funniest line in British TV history but, right up there..
I get the feeling the true intelligence of that line goes unappreciated by people, especially if they just watch these videos. Moss throwing his monitor across the room is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on television!
