Commonnnn how good is 32 bit float????? NEVER EVER GET A HEART ATTACK FROM MESSING UP AUDIO
Dude, I want to know more about the skates!!!
Just as long as you don't forget to turn it on or leave it on and drain the battery 💀
Can you please help me with the mic that you used on the zoom f3 ? Link please . Thanks
Megacool! This opens up so many possibilities. The era of raw audio has started ❤
you are my fav youtube lesbian
The sun coming in right as you say "loud as you want" at 1:08, right after you compared 32 bit audio to raw video, is very satisfying.
love the internal recording too, using them everywhere 💕
Beautiful showcase :D Itreally sounds great
Been using 32 bit float with the Tentacle Sync for years now.
Same. Being able to monitor is clutch
It's like RAW photos on steroids but with audio. And it's incredible. I hope it comes to all devices in the future. It's so good
Yup. I agree. That's why I own a couple of 32 bit float recorders, and it does everything that you say that it does.. Nothing better.
love this Matti!
Woah that sounds great!
I was ready for huge files. But he said not big files. That’s amazing
Really exciting development for indie filmmakers with limited crews. Will also be an absolute lifesaver for wedding videographers. Thanks for the great breakdown!
Exactly!!
I was just thinking the exact same thing! I'm also curious about the Zoom X3 for wedding videographers. What are your thoughts?
Not sure if you were asking me. Lol. Personally, I just use the RODE Wireless GO II, and they work fine. The Wireless PRO would be a nice upgrade, though. I keep a pretty minimal setup, so not having to worry about an extra recorder or audio interface is a big win for me. I record straight to camera for scratch audio, and capture WAV files inside the mics.@@guywhitworth5764
I love my zoom f3. It makes audio so easy!! Totally worth the money and the 2 seconds to sync it up.
I’ve been using Tentacle Track E for years. It’s absolutely phenomenal and essentially bulletproof.
32 bit float is amazing! I am enjoying recording in this format a ton!!
This is awesome. I do a lot of corporate video interviews in my day job and going from a loud talker to a quiet talker and people of different heights is a pain as a one man crew. This completely solves the issue.
Amazing video Matti . I use the zoom f2 it also has 32bit audio. Although I have to bring it up quite a bit but as you said there is no hissing. Thanks for the video. Love you Brother!
32 bit float is the GOAT!
Literally!
Really enjoyed your video today 🤩 🇸🇪
Nice.- What camera / lens combo did you use for the outdoor shots? The shots look dope.
fantastic rode 💪🏻
I love 32 Bit float 😍
Need this jawn
I have the Zoom F3 and the the Rode wireless pro kit. Both game changers. Absolutely insane.
Love your videos bro❤❤❤
They work great! I def have them and Initially I was wondering if not having negative db available would be an issue...but it hasnt been so Im happy!!!
I got two sets of these Rode Wireless Pros for podcasts. I got some portable mic stands, and four Interview Go mic accessories and it’s super dope. I bring my MacBook Pro, so remote production for people, live streaming with auto gain, and then using the 32-bit float to create an edited Longform version, and clipping out shorts. Super handy.
Definitely will buy these for next year wedding season
Loving the long hair matti! Keep letting it ride! Also… I am loving the rode wireless pros they have been game changers for me when recording audio! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Heck yea 🙌🏻
Very cool! Have you compared file sizes between recordings captured with this vs. 16 or 24-bit recorders?
I think you can also sync your F3 if you have the other rode transmitter free and feed audio out or headphone out to that. Good for interview where you can have one lav and one shotgun or supercardioid and have a sync track for both in camera.
Love this! I have the rode go 2 mics. Maybe I should upgrade!!
The handheld skating footage looked amazing! Are you using the PolarPro ND/mist combo on that? or is that a lut? (or both?!) Thanks for the great video!
This has been around for almost 4 years, but good to see we're getting it in tiny recorders with lavs now
It’s more like “HDR” audio versus “RAW” audio. Think of it like shooting log vs built-in pic styles in video. Much more of a dynamic range and a lot harder to clip as long as you’re using a 32-bit float supported microphone as well.
Nope, the microphone doesn’t matter, just don’t overload the mic capsule with a higher SPL than it can handle. Every mic has a max SPL limitation. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
@@stevenkralovecthis
Thank you for breaking this down! I didn’t understand the importance
The 32 bit float is pretty sweet! I had a chance to try out the Rode NT1 Gen 5 which also has that available via the USB connection. It kinda blew my mind!
Also - the new Focusrite audio interfaces have 32 bit float built in so you could use any mic and not clip!
It’s wild!
As a wedding videographer, this has been a game changer. I've using one connected to the output of the celebrant/DJ PA system for a line out - no testing the audio levels, just plug n play. - never had a clipped audio signal. Then I just put the other lapel on the groom or somewhere else as a back up. - recorded internally into the unit. Love it!
Be careful though, you can still clip if the DJs output is more than +4db. The mixpre sound device can do +10. Curtis Judd has a video on this on his channel. So don’t be too reliant that you can’t ever clip again
@@EasyyokeFilms thanks for the heads up, it hasn’t peaked for me yet so have been lucky. I always strap a small recorder to the actual mic as a back up :)
Cool!✌️
i love how you integrated skating into this video 🤣 awesome. but yea, 32bit float saved my ass a few times already on my tascam x8
Oh that’s cool
Matti you are a master at storytelling, totally hooked and might buy that 32 bit float for my wedding business. I was wondering about your backlit scenes where you talk to camera and have a small light behind you.... oh thats THE SUN and you still manage to expose or correct everything in a very beautiful way. How did the RAW footage look like? You just lifted your shadows?
Well, the noise floor does raise as you increase the levels actually, so it’s still important to properly place the mic for your situation. And you still can’t be loud as you want because of the SPL (sound pressure level) of the mic you use, has its limits. But I do agree, it’s a phenomenal advancement !
This people and rode miss this critical information they don't tell you the mic still has limits
Exactly what he says in the video
@@JGorg8at 1:40 he says no additional noise is added raising lower levels. So what do you mean ?
I been using 32bit float for quite a while on several devices, noise floor raises just the same. 32bit float is just a 24bit file that auto shifts the gain for you, simply that.
And for the mic clipping, I was just agreeing with it, but stating exactly what it is, sound pressure. Which can be managed a little with high SPL mics like a Shure MKE2 gold or Dpa.
@@potatorigs2155lol true - it goes against the concept of the easier selling point - buy 32bit float and you have no worries right haha. If you know how to use it - understand the limitations it’s the best though !!! I love it.
I was about to say something along these lines.
Excited
I love your videos.
Sounds like a promising technology, but I have to say the audio seemed a bit weird in the video! I'm not sure if it was just that there was background music that was really really quiet, but it seemed kind of distorted to me?
But for the record, I dont want to fight you! 😂
Hey! That's pretty good.
im interest about what cam use for this video it's just fantastic about the dynamic range 😊😊
32 bit float has been out for a long time :-) the TENTACLE TRACK E are amazing!
You need to ask your contacts at all these manufacturers when they will be putting 32bit float IN camera! Waiting for the day that sound devices licenses their preamps and we get that quality in camera. Until then gotta use a MixPre3 II.
Hi, nice video!
I'm pretty new to audio recording, so I do have one question. Why do you use still the zoom recorder, if you could just put the audio from the rode straight into the camera? What did I miss? :D
There is a diffrence between line lvl vs mic lvl - for example with my zoom f3 it only has 32 bit but that's the only thing you have to make sure you don't mess up.
Hooking up to a speaker.
I'm not sure why 32b float is not yet available in any Rodecaster Pro/Duo (yet) but that will indeed be amazing when it will be! 🤩🤩
seen a few videos on the new rode mic but didnt really understand it til this video i guess - very cool stuff
Trust it’s crazy!
How do you get that orange-y, reddish chromatic abberation on the trees is it a preset? Davinvi effect?
people, make sure the mic you are using to capture 32bit float has a high SPL because , the mic itself can still distort
informative video.
Tentacle audio recorders been doing this for ages!
Do any modern video containers support 32bit float in order for the camera to do this internal or would the camera have to have a sidecar audio file to swap in post?
Biggest issue with these isn’t the clipping - it’s the wireless range and the cut outs as a result. I’m pretty sure you had one at around 30 seconds too.
Oh no. Now I feel bad. I’ve used this every day for 3 years haha. I should probably have mentioned it 😂😂😂
MixPre-3 II
and
Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder
I can’t believe I knew something you didn’t but miracles happen haha.
Great idea to have a feed into the camera also. Have to try that!
It’s an awesome technology, but it’s been in gear since 2019 at least 😉. It took Rode years to jump on the bandwagon, but sound devices and zoom had recorders in 2019 with 32 bit float, and tentacle had it in lav recorders in ‘21.
Sorry but I’m a bit unsure, will I be able to shout and/or whisper without clipping and just adjust it all in post?
This is what I’ve been telling people in the world of Looping. With loop pedals Boss added 32-bit float which is SOOO important when you overdub lots of loops on top of one another. Glad the audio is in Rode Pro and Zoom and wonder when the first Camera with 32-bit float will be? Sony? Canon? Red? 🤣
I need these Asap
Apparently the new pocket 3 has 32 bit float audio 😮
Yea I feel like everything is gonna have it soon
Does that mean the dji mic 2 are coming soon? 🧐
Lol
Can't wait till this is the norm. I have the Dji mic right now for some quality of life reasons. I hope Rode can add those features i need from the Dji mic or Dji adopts the 32-bit float!
I shoot weddings a lot and this would be much better than auto levling for the praty and speeches.
After doing some research the dji mic (2) they just released with the Dji pocket 3 has 32 bit float and is similar to the dji wireless mic! Excatly what I was looking for! Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Dang that halation game is strong with this one :D
I mean filmmakers have been running the zoom F3 F6 for a couple years now, although its bigger than this rode mic, its a great professional tool.
Can confirm the RODE PRO and Zoom F3 are two very epic pieces of kit! 😋
Must haves 😊
Bigger files but totally worth it. Still confused why camera companies didn’t use this earlier. 32bit has been around forever!
Question when batteries run out on your skates do you have to walk back in socks for say 5 miles.😮
Can this be used for shotgun mics?
I absolutely love 32 bit float. I use the Rode mic pros on talent and the Zoom f3 to boom. I never have issues with audio anymore!
It’s tooooo gooood to be true yet it is trueeee
The heart attack is real! This is legit the piece of kit I’ve been most excited about in years. I’ve messed up so many takes with my wireless go 2. It’s the worst feeling 😭
6:42 tune in for the next episode when Matti cage matches someone 😂
lol
Does Sony A7IV support 32bit float?
So I'm confused. Where is the 32 bit float? Is it in a new version of the wireless mic, or the lav mic? Is it the recording on the wireless mic, or transmitted audio to your camera? Is it a new upload to the wireless mic, or do you have to buy a new mic?
It's in the recorder. Shouldn't matter what mic you use.
*You have to properly record the audio, though.*
As a wedding filmmaker, trying to pick off audio from a Groom's mic (32 bit float or not) for a Bride's vows will still sound bad because it's too far away from her mouth (hence why I always hide a mic in the the bride's dress, if the dress allows). Doing something like this, then boosting in post will make the Groom's sniffles and rustles even louder and won't magically get rid of them, and can interrupt important things the Bride says in her vows.
Yep maybe just watch the whole video ;)
What about a camera that records uncompressed audio?
Sounds stupid but...Does it really not clip/peak? I have the Tascam x8 which boasts 32 bit float, but still clips... many other owners of the tascam x8 have this issue too.
Uhhhhh. So those are new rode wire less mics yes?
Better RUclips be paying on time this month.
I need this!!
Doesn't the Osmo Pocket 3's wireless transmitter allow for 32-bit float? The Pocket 3 camera will not save a 32-bit float file, but the transmitter can record 32-bit float internally.
A "little" silly assumption that the "storage" can give you resolution, not the sensor. It's like having RAW in potato-cam.
Mic types, amps - this is the magic. Check videos of 16vs24bit sound quality. And glasses look lil bit silly too (:
How is no one talking about the halation in this video, how did you do this???
3:45 you said everything here. No dice cameras don't handle 32
Okay is it just me, or is Techtober really mild this year? I've been holding off on purchases for this month.
2023? Tentacle have been crushing 32 bit float for years!
Gosh.. I wish it could be in my Lumix s5ii... cause I recently switched from Sony... and I do not expect to upgrade anytime soon...:( Loved the vid.. especially the part.. LOUD NOISESS ahahahahaha
as an audio engineer, hearing you say its like raw for audio is so funny:)
I think it was the Zoom manual that said float 32 has upwards of 1,500db of dynamic range. The loudest theoretical noise on earth is only about half that. You'd have to use this on a different planet to clip it (not counting clipping the mic.)
Yep 😂 but the microphone will clip physically
@@mattih Yeah. Supposedly there is a zoom mic that doesn’t clip. It’s this weird all in one mic / recorder.
32-bit float has been around for a while
For those who don't mind less features and are on more of a budget, the Zoom F2 has 32 bit float and is almost HALF the price of F3
I dont think anyone will think otherwise matti😂. You dont have to fight anyone.
I’m not a fighter
thats ZOOM mic is IT
Take a shot every time Matti says 32-bit float😂I have the Zoom F3 and it is incredible for filming weddings!
32 bit float is awesome but what about those rollerblade skills... man I've always thought there should be electric rollerblades too haha
Bit of a reach to say this is a 2023 innovation. RODE is actually super slow to the party on this one as MixPre, ZOOM, Tascam and TentacleSync have had 32-bit for, in some cases, years. RODE is the Canon of audio with their cripple hammer and slow iteration on their products.
I think most people don’t actually understand what audio technicalities are… 32 bit is cool for gain, such that you worry less about clipping your audio if not adjusted accordingly to the subject or scenes, but this is not raw audio, there is a limit of this tradeoff between 32bit and 24bit, which is the noise floor that still exist and thus should be also checked. Actually I would worry more about sample rate, if you plan on mixing, such that your post processing works better, which is the case for dialogue isolation on RX or other softs that are becoming more common, such on premiere or resolve
32 bit float has been around for a while.
The next FX camera will have if not the sony a7siv
For your type of content, because you're so active and get out a lot for your videos, this will be a big upgrade to your setup for sure!!! Nice brother, looking forward to seeing what you make with this. I'm thinking about the drone videos where you lost a drone, when you go blading with your brother, meet up with Pete on the go, etc.!! Cheers brother!!
