Targeting is IMPOSSIBLE! WoW Player Can't Figure Out FFXIV Controller

- Seriously, why do I keep targeting that Beetle!? Ok, ok, I'm just playing. The FFXIV controller actually handles really well, but this dunce (me) is really struggling with the targeting. Case and point: this video. Maybe you should yell at me in the comments... :3

Character Config > Control Settings > Target > Target Type > Type 2: Cone

Hold left front bumper and either left or right back bumper. You can also do quick push of it to both.

@@ZerumTV make sure to use cone style of targeting otherwise its just too messy. Cone is close to wow targetting style which goes to what you see with ur character in a cone radius. Also use some filters so u dont get objects or anything in as well (not sure how the default is at all customized it from the start)
hey bro I created a macro that can solve a lot of problems with targeting (best used with mouse/keyboard tho). basically you ditch a bunch of targetting keybinds and just create one keybind to target execute your macro. I made a video for it since it can be quite hard to explain in a short chat (it's in my channel). if you want a very specific kind of targetting I can possibly find a solution suited for you.
If you see just above your HP bar, it says "All" ... meaning you're targeting everything. Unfortunately, my kid fixed mine to where I only target "Enemies" so I hope someone can tell you how to do that. I play on PS5, so what I have to do is likely different from what you might have to do to fix that, but for me, it's some clicking of the shoulder buttons, as stated by the other commenter(s) :)
