I took a job in a building just around the corner from central about 10 years ago. I was there about a week and on my lunch break I headed down towards this McDonald’s, on the way outside a greggs I witnessed something that impacted me in a way so profoundly it still sticks with me, I lll never forget it. I came past a young guy probably early 20s max, it was November & absolutely freezing, the young man was uncontrollably crying, whaling, telling a young girl who had obviously stopped to help him that he couldn’t survive another night on the streets, he just simply couldn’t do it anymore, he was cold, starving, terrified. I’ve never seen such absolute helplessness in a human being before or since. I cried the rest of that lunch break and most of that day atleast. I took a week sick line and never went back. I’m in tears even writing this because the pain that young man was in is still so fresh in my mind. I pray for him and the rest of these poor people.

Lost my wallet in Glasgow a few weeks ago with cards and around £100 in cash. A couple managed to find my wallet and phone number, they called me to let me know they had it, was returned safely. Tried giving them £40 as a kind gesture but they weren’t having it. It was a lovely young foreign couple. Hope they get some good Karma back at some point. Visited Liverpool a few years ago and it’s a lovely city with kind people, to be honest it surpassed my expectations, will defo revisit!
A few years back, I went to Liverpool for a concert and the people we were seated next to took us under their wing for the remainder of our stay, total strangers- some people are just truly the salt of the earth. Liverpool itself had a friendly atmosphere. As does Edinburgh (where I'm from) and Newcastle. Some places like London and Manchester don't have that same happy-go-lucky atmosphere and feel genuinely unsafe.

"People Make Glasgow." I was in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago. I felt safer there than Newcastle City Centre. Maybe it's because I'm a Glaswegian....who knows. Things haven't changed in generations. My father worked a soup kitchen in Glasgow City Centre 40+ years ago. Same issues, different faces. Alcohol back then, drugs now. Everyone has a story of how they came to be down and out. Any one of us could find ourselves there. One of the best things you can give someone after shelter and food is kindness......
Great content Bill , been travelling up to Glasgow a couple times a year to Barrowlands for years and have a few good pals up there so i feel a connection with city in a sense. BIG well done lad highlighting the homeless and the vulnerable issues the city has and showing the fantastic people who volunteer to help. Great has gone out of Britain and leaves a shit taste in my mouth with people of the streets and our government more concerned about putting immigrants up in hotels with all the trimmings why our own try and survive living rough swept to one side and forgotten.
exactly!!! we can send our rnli to escort them here and taxi them straight to hotels with no questions asked. We are being mugged off in our own homes! this sickens me, the home office last week had to admit they have outbid local councils by millions to buy houses for asylum seekers. to make it worse, that is our taxes yet again!!! its not right, ffs! im sick of being called racist just because i believe we need to help our fellow British, not open the doors to the world instead.
what utter racist nonsense. Government are more concerned with pitting us against each other and you've swallowed it hook line and sinker. They aren't ignoring the homeless because of immigration, they are ignoring the homeless because they're Tories.
@@Camille_Anderson na Camille you're absolutely a racist if that's what you think. We are a rich country, we can house everybody and it should be obvious. You're mopping up right wing propaganda like a sponge in a filled bucket.
Good to hear you have the sense to blame the guv and not the immigrants . A lot of whom are refugees from wars . The guv need to employ more ppl to evaluate the refugees and weed out out any chancers ! The real refugees deserve help . Chancers need deporting ! The immigration staff are NOT coping . If they are understaffed employ more to get this problem sorted .
Thanks for the video Billy. Am from the East End like Shug in the wheelchair. My lad is currently living homeless in Glasgow. He has a place here with his mum and i and we worry about him every day. Yeah Billy, was a accurate discription of central Glasgow in your film. I was an ex Glasgow Black cab driver for 30 years. So I have seen it all. Still this city has a huge heart and its people are second to none...thanks again Billy.
I've lived in Scotland for 15 years after moving up with my wife & family. I've been out in Glasgow many time day & night & with my London accent have had no problems with Glaswegians. I found them to be helpful & humourus at the same time. They will go out of their way to help you. The odd drunk you meet is "nae bother", as they say. In my opinion Glasgow is one of the most welcoming places I've been to & I always enjoy coming here for nights out & visiting the relations.
Just a little tip Billy, the wind blowing into the mic muffles the sound, but if u put a small like sock over the mic it stops the wind muffling the sound, just a tip mate. Keep up these homeless vids and show the real life and real world. These homeless are the invisible people that no one gives a 2nd thought to about there struggles. God bless you Mr Moore.
You could use a baby sock and just cover the bottom part of the phone to cover the mic BUT test it out first. The reason I mentioned this my mate use to do YT vids and he had the same problem with wind and he cut a baby sock just above the toes of the sock and covered his mic with the sock and it worked. I know this sound a bit mad but I’m only mentioning it as a cheap easy fix and just helps with your content. Try it if it works then good if not you have lost nothing. Thanks laah

Fascinated by this one, Billy. It's where I live now and I work with some of the very vulnerable people of the city. The four corners, as well has having huge problems at the weekends and nightime, has been a focal point for child sexual exploitation in Glasgow. And it has also attracted some really unpleasant people from all over Scotland as well because of its reputation. However, I spoke to a senior cop last week and he had said to me that they were now noticing that a lot of the people who congregated around the four corners had now move elsewhere. And the place they had moved to was the area you were in where you saw people arguing with each other and getting moody near to the funfair. That's the area near to St Enoch's underground station. At weekends that place has now become popular with kids from all over the city to congregate, and it is causing police and social work a load of problems. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your visit.
That used to be Boots corner back in the 70s and early 80s no problems then. What has happened since? Thatcher and individualisim an entitlement culture where we are all shouty customers. no respect for public services or the environment from all walks of society. No give just take and destroy and make life miserable for everyone.
@vaseofflowers4619that’s heartbreaking to hear btw. I loved Glasgow as a young boy in the 90s & spent most of my weekends round about it. Vibrant & fun place. I was in the music scene & played in some bands too. It sounds like it went to hell.
Great video, you meet some amazing people, just because they’re living on the streets the humanity and humour still shines through. Real love and respect to those who give their time to help. Governments should be ashamed
Ya same thing here. In Toronto. Rents are 2 k. Per month. Again caused by. Lax immigration rules. Our real estate market . Is a place to launder dirty Chinese money. Drug money. . If I'm wrong. Watch CBC special Vancouver. . Watch it.
Wonder if there's anywhere in the Uk, without the same problems? Orwell's book, 'Down and Out in Paris and London', was published 90 years ago and things haven't improved.
Installed steel security panels and doors in most of the schemes in and around Glasgow for years, done all over North Lanarkshire too, seen a few sights in those years but IMO the three worst places for working in etc were Barrowfield near ParkHead, Easterhouse and the No-1 Ferguslie Park, miss those days in that job. The homeless situation now in Glasgow is a disgrace, it's a shame Sturgeon or now that clown Humza don't walk through Glasgow and take in the mess instead of looking away like it doesn't exist, bloody disgrace. Mind doing all the security screens for the old wallpaper building at Robertson Street back around 1998 / 99 - Junkies were living in it for years, the day we went in after the police was a real eyeopener on the sheer amount of used needles, when the building was secure they still broke in most weeks, I still remember getting a callout on Christmas day as I was on standby. Thanks again Bill.
@@grantross3600 We had a ground flat to secure one day in Stamford Street, the tenant had went to count and ended up getting a short sentence, from memory it was like 6 moon however he had a German Shepherd dog and before he left for court had bought a full case of tinned dog food, he opened every can and placed them all over the flat in every room, he must have thot the dog would just eat a can per day and would be ok alone till he got lib'd, but the dog ate all the cans of food in just a few days then shat everywhere, I went down 2the housing and explained I was refusing 2do the installation until someone cleared all the shit, never seen so much dog shit in my life, place was mega bad, the dog had also cut all it's nose as was barking at the window at anyone walking past and one day broke the glass.

I’m told Glasgow suffered when we went into the common market - suddenly it wasn’t the main port. My great great grandfather was a Glaswegian boilermaker who was born in Glasgow in about 1840 my name is Scottish for John - Ian - the surname I use is my Grandmother’s maiden name dad was illegitimate in 1927 - very unusual then! The rest of my ancestors come from my home town area. It is so sad that the statue is of somebody homeless. I’ve had 21 jobs since I was 13 - I just gave up after that.
The statue is Homeless Jesus. It's behind a church. The artist put these statues all around the world to highlight homelessness. I think the question it asks is, would you walk past jesus in this situation?
From Manchester but me and the Mrs go to Glasgow often as we love it and the people. We stay at Motel One just under the bridge there . Never had any trouble at all
Sadly its not Just Glasgow or Liverpool its all over! Time for the homeless the weary the broken to get proper help from this joke of a government, Glad people lime Billy highlighting this but mainstream media must do more & put pressure on government & councils! Respect & regards Billy & young Joe 💯⭐️👍 #helpthehomeless
You've not been to Govannhill then, it's the pits full of Algerians,Romanians, the lot have taken over the whole area, prostitute's, men selling their own children, robbing innocent people at cash machines take a trip here a right eye opener.
It’s so sad, I found this quite upsetting even although I walk past them when I’m in Glasgow. I’m also travel to Manchester a lot and it’s the same. Poor souls everywhere. I remember this young beautiful girl used to stop me in Deansgate and ask for money, as the months went she declined to a point where she could hardly speak. I’ll never forget that. Thanks to all the amazing people who help them.
To some people it sounds like the Glaswegians are arguing and being aggressive but they’re not really, it’s just the way they communicate Good video Billy
Billy well done mate for how far you’ve come in life it’s not an easy thing to turn a bear trap into a spring I’m from Glasgow and was on the streets and in and out of prison when I was a teenager so I know what it’s like I moved to Liverpool your neck of the woods thirty years ago had a few sentences down here to but my missus has kept me on the narrow we live in the brook but much respect brother that’s how it’s done
Thats a pity Billy, as i just removed what was probably the latgest comment ever to grace your channel, I'm sure it wasn't read or liked because it was huge, just goes to show the attention span folk have these days. I usually write large comments on all my watched videos, and a few take time to say thanks, no I'm not fishing here lol! Though when someone like me, who's Glaswegian, takes the time to reflect on the video, say I'm grateful for it, or that i really enjoyed watching, or even correcting certain things. I enjoy doing it. Anyway no slight on you Billy, and no complaints, your videos are excellent, similar to "Blink and youll miss it" by Ian Blink Mcdonald. Though he just wanders round Glasgow, and i do that almost everyday, infact i bumped into him 2 weeks ago. So here's a nice short comment this time. Cheers Billy.
Having worked as a Glasgow cabbie for 45 years, I think I've got a better than good idea about the city and its problems, and yes, like EVERY major city in the UK, it does have problems. This video, however, is not representative of the Glasgow I know and love. If there's a more friendly city on the planet, I'd love to see it.
As someone who had(sadly he passed away from it) family member with an addiction... my heart breaks for some of the people that suffer from it, because not everyone in that situation wants to be in that position but its the only way to cope and get to the next day. Its extremely difficult to help people who wont(or cant) help themselves and sadly this separates the mentally weak from the strong. I just wish there was a way to help the weak overcome this mentality of "what's the point" and properly encourage them see a future and a life away from addiction. Sometimes hitting rock bottom is a good thing they say but not everyone can stand back up from it.
Hi bill, this is typical britain at the moment, all the major cities have all got homeless and drug problems, its such a shame that our country has come to this and nobody knows what to do. In london its everywhere you go, in fact its getting worse. Good video bill, keep it up
That was quite respectful. I hope everyone in this videos is doing well. Hope you're doing okay too big yin. I'm always worried I'll end up homeless because of my bad mental health (mostly panic attacks - never violent or aggressive), I just think I'm dying when it happens. The amount of jobs I've been sacked from when they say "you didn't put down you have panic attacks when we hired you", just cause I had a bad one and had to sit down and regulate my breathing for ten minutes - and there was nowhere on the form to put panic attacks down, and nobody who'd realise panic attacks are different dependent on the person.
im from birmingham and i went to glasgow a few months ago right around where you are in this video everyone is so cool and unique and just overall amazing people even early hours of the morning everyone is sound.
Glasgow in the 70's, like every other northern industrial town was fucking scary. Not so much now though thank goodness, but there are remnants of that time, believe me.
There’s no chance in Scotland the drug epidemic is crazy . It’s like zombie land someone’s either on one thing or the other it’s shite man . Addiction has got hold of me for no reason but my own. Trying to look cool with the troops now I’m 32 majority friends are dead threw violence and drugs. But Glasgow is beautiful and the people are the best people you will meet glad to see you up bill would a been good to meet you . Your helping me with my addictions . Keep on keepin on bill your a good man
It must have changed, i havent been up since 2015, saw a few drunks on Saturday night, and it nearly kicked off because a man couldnt get some drink after 10pm, but i felt safe enough same as in London.

Yer very tuned in to the wylie ways. No body will starve in this city for sure. Ironically those that would steal yer teeth will at another time give ye the shirt off their back. The four corners was once a meeting place, there used to be a boots with a big clock and it was boots corner. Handy for train and bus. Now though night and day it's the first port of call for those looking to score. That means folk fae all over Glasgow bumping into each other and tempers can flair. Yeah Billy, typical of him, 10 years too late, should have a Time Machine. Lazy scouse t**t 😂
Same people that's in the new houses mate. It's no different.
@@santoy1000 asylum seekers and spice boys glesga is not the same anymore 👎👎👎

You're a good guy Billy son, your compassion and humanity shines through in your videos brother.
Keeping you and your loved ones in prayer.
I hope too as Christmas time approaches you stay safe and have a fabulous time.
A humbling honest video we should all be thankful what we have any of us could end up on the streets and people should never judge anybody who's homeless, big respect to volunteers who help, just subbed cheers
Berny is a pal of mine, fellow posso boy known him since primary school, sad to see him like this was always a genuine boy even if he’s a hun 😂 wish him all the best ❤
the schemes in Glasgow are far worse than the four corners ! :/
That's the true spirit of Glasgow, nice couple to return your wallet and even refused the reward
Keep it going Billy mate your the Only one not talking about all that Decca Shite! You are a True inspiration to a lot of people Billy my Partner and i watch you every morning 🌄 sending lots of Love and Light to and your beautiful family God bless pal from Stirling Scotland 🏴⚔️💚 xx

You felt unsafe in the toon?

No mate it’s not cos you’re Glaswegian. I’m from Manchester and feel far safer in Glasgow than I do in my own city. Love the city and the people
Great content Bill , been travelling up to Glasgow a couple times a year to Barrowlands for years and have a few good pals up there so i feel a connection with city in a sense.
@@Camille_AndersonWell said Camille..
The reason he chooses to be away from home is he does not want his mum or myself to see his addiction. Love is unconditional mate. I love your channel mate, please be safe.
I’ll be back up to GLASGOW this weekend thanks for your message.

Yeah Billy, was a accurate discription of central Glasgow in your film. I was an ex Glasgow Black cab driver for 30 years. So I have seen it all. Still this city has a huge heart and its people are second to none...thanks again Billy.
Some lovely architecture in Glasgow
I've lived in Scotland for 15 years after moving up with my wife & family. I've been out in Glasgow many time day & night & with my London accent have had no problems with Glaswegians. I found them to be helpful & humourus at the same time. They will go out of their way to help you. The odd drunk you meet is "nae bother", as they say. In my opinion Glasgow is one of the most welcoming places I've been to & I always enjoy coming here for nights out & visiting the relations.
Great content. Keep up the great work 👍 all the best Jordan
Nice one but it’s on a phone doubt a sock would work 😂
@@theallornothingpodcastwith4442 Use a pillow case billy, those Nokia Bricks are big!
Thanks laah
Just a suggestion for anyone looking for options, Housing options / military matters which is a subsidiary to the charity/ service amazing, Ryan Macdonald saved my life , it’s more than just homelessness, it’s all the complex issues surrounding the situation, Childhood trauma, substance issues, PTSD ( Military) complex trauma , the list goes on , two years going round in circles in Glasgow, asses refer ,I was lucky as ex veteran I got access to multiple charities, as soon as I was re houses in North Lanarkshire, my life has changed , massive shout out to Phoenix Futures Coatbridge Karen and the crew the best ! , but try Housing options ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@garyrigby21 we both have people who stand back and go.... wow look at the state of this place and these people
Good people that's the similarities.

I'm from Liverpool and went to Uni in Glasgow - such similar cities. Salt of the earth people, working class city - but a tough city with rough parts

To some people it sounds like the Glaswegians are arguing and being aggressive but they’re not really, it’s just the way they communicate

Good video bill, keep it up
Not that it's any competition but Scotland is far worse. We are literally the drug death capital of Europe.
F the Tory’s 🖕🏻 May they burn for what they did to the U.K. & Scotland.
Great that ur highlighting the homeless situation in Glasgow,, Dublin is gone really bad,,sad to see ,, especially in this day an age
Glasgow has a big problem helping guys fighting age men mostly from other countries get housed first i worked in the system seen it with my own eyes
Awesome what your doing❤️
