You got mad love from the real fans Jeremy. We appreciate the fuck out of you and your body of work. Those of us in the know realize you are a real legend of the sport
He beat Renan Barao and Rafael Dos Anjos in their prime. Two of the most dangerous fighters that the division has ever seen. He also came up on short side of numerous countless close decisions. Always in the fight and scared of no one.
Love the podcast. One thing I’d say is please don’t bring only fans models on the podcast. Keep it pure. People with real credential’s and accomplishments. Obviously your show but don’t dilute the perfect formula, seen it happen way too many times.
It's kinda funny how you can be one of the top fighters in your weight class and have a ton of wins in ufc but be remembered as "who da fook is that guy?"
@@João-t5k7lI don’t think he means that literally as if nobody actually knows him. We all know him and definitely put that respect on him, but it’s definitely one of, if not the first, things you think about when you hear Jeremy Stephens hahahaha.
It was the only reason I knew who he was. Never seen one of his fights but will go back and watch. I have been a somewhat casual over last 20 years (until the last few years) only keeping up with certain people. Will now go back and watch his fights. I’m sure I saw some of them
Daddy's money. But he's definitely smarter than he acts. Not saying he's much smarter in real life, but he definitely is playing a bit of a character to some extent, it's too obvious.
From what I read at that time, the reason his opponent was paid and Jeremy wasn’t was because he hurt the other guy during the push. Apparently, the unexpected push caused whiplash/neck injury preventing him from fighting, and the blame was on Jeremy.
Been watching mma since 2008. Stephens’ career has been a joy to watch. What a dog. Kill or be killed he has always put it on the line and put on a show. When its all said and done I hope he’s financially free and has all his faculties. Thank you Jeremy for all the fights so far!
He'll never see this, but Jeremy Stephens has made me a fan. I used to dislike this guy, but the last few podcasts he was in changed my opinion. He has that David Goggins approach to where he doesn't want to let himself or anyone else down. I really respect JS a lot now.
When he pushed him at the weigh in the guy got medically hurt and couldn't fight. So the ufc had to cancel main event day before. Thats the reason ufc was pissed
@@devriestownif you dont brace it can be pretty bad. I remember during a rugby game i was pushed full force like that from behind and my neck was sore for about a week. I wouldn’t want to fight like that. + the ufc should be strict on that bs to avoid becoming like one of those cringe russian companies where every 2nd fight theres some pre fight drama
One of the true fighters in the UFC. He was not a competitor, he was a true fighter. This man looked like an apex predator in the cage treating his opponents like prey. Watching him walk Emmett down even after getting caught and trying to end the man’s life with elbow, Stephens is a BMF.
I don't know which fighter Rampage is talking about who was 17 years old. I went through the whole card and can't solve that one... does anyone know who he's talking about?
Aside from not mentioning the reported spinal injury that Klose suffered because of the push, Jeremy represented himself well in this interview. Appreciate the respect shown between him and Rampage
I don't think he believes the injury was like that. They guy got paid for not fighting, and they put Jeremy with a wrestler to get him a loss. I can see it from his side
Been a Lil' Heathen fan since 2008, but gotta admit, always thought he was kind of a meathead... wow, what a well spoken, insightful & down-to-earth guy... awesome podcast, as always.
Jeremy is right on competitors vs. fighters. I can think of several in the UFC right now who are more competitor than fighter. They tend to resort to very disciplined moves and miss a lot of opportunities in a fight because they lack the killer instinct to be scrappy. Then you had someone like Wanderlei who will clinch and knee you, or Jones and Conor attacking your chin with their shoulder strike. Someone like Feodor who would sit upright to have the leverage to inflict ground and pound. Now you see competitors lay on someone for 2 minutes and have zero instincts to actually inflict damage, even when there is 10 seconds left on the clock because that is a safe competitor strategy lol.
Rampage talking about sinking when he's in water. I feel that, I'm the same😂 I used to do swimming lessons in year 6 and got good at swimming. I went to butlins with my family in year 7. My brother asked if I could swim so I said yes, he threw me in the deepend and I started sinking.. he had to jump in and save my ass🫣🤣🤣🤣
Miss this guy idk what happened unfortunately how the sport goes ig, he was ona tear around those Emmet, Melendez and Aldo fight he was so close to winning and getting a title shot too and seemed to go down from there, miss the Stephens fights in the UFC
