would of been nice to see the aftermath of the brief war or skirmish with this alien race. see humanity backward engineering all alien tech and akin to independence day, being ready if another invasion fleet arrived. or possibly the aliens vieing for peace after reaching a species with the will power and strength to fight them back after who knows how many planets theyve done this on. im leaning more toward the former for a sequel if it ever got one as this seems like a small force to quell local population and take resources then leave. this never seemed like a full scale planetary invasion force. which did give way for more movies to follow with the aliens returning after their forces that went to earth went dark.
He's assuming it's not a full retreat but withdrawing to organize a counter-strike. He wants to keep the pressure on to prevent that as they don't have the resources for withstanding another sustained assault.

The problem with the aliens in this movie is they were basically too vulnerable. You could argue that on their way to earth, they weren't expecting humanity to be as advanced by the time they got here, but we're talking about a species that clearly had interstellar travel, meaning they had very high science and energy capabilities. On top of that, their ships seemed to be cobbled together from scrap. The aliens just overall seemed under prepared for a planetary invasion. I couldn't even give them the benefit of a doubt as to the environmental and gravity differences of earth, because they would have to of known this long before they even got here. To me, it seems more like a last ditch attempt by their species, as if they were refugees from their homeworld and basically had no choice, but at that point it would seem like coming in peace and negotiating to settle on earth would be a better alternative to hostile invasion.

@@justasimplegamer129 It felt like I was one of the only ones who actually loved this movie when it came out. I am noticing much more positive reviews now but it's way too late 😔
In the movie's defense, I counted at least 2 of them switching to sidearms during the last push, which could be because they ran out of primary ammo, so at least that's somewhat consistent. They also didn't chase the enemies very far; it looked more like strongly encouraging the enemy to keep retreating away from them more than trying to wipe them out.
