Only thing: shouldn't you be using a standard aspect ratio when cropping (3:2, 4:3, 16:9, 5:4, etc), instead of an arbitrary/custom one?

no. unless you're planning on printing it to a standard format. Most social media sites will accommodate custom aspect ratios.
