The higher mechanical and thermal loads involved when driving on racing tracks lead to increased wear. This wear is not covered by the warranty. When driving on a racing track, gradually increase the duration of the load.
Before and after driving on a racing track, have the vehicle checked at an authorized Service Partner or another qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop.
The standard brake pads and the wear indicator are not designed for racing track operation.
Further information and advice can be obtained from an authorized Service Partner or another qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop.

The BMW Driver's Guide app specifically describes the equipment and functions included in the vehicle. The Owner's Handbook is available as an app in many countries. You will find further information on the Internet at: www.bmw.com/bmw_drivers_guide

Can you open the brake cooling vents for road use? What happens if you leave them open?
please send me a sport wagon im in love with them my mini needs a friend
why is there a cover on the breakcooling ?
GM voided my warranty for going to a drag strip while BMW shows you how to prep your car for the race track 😳
That’s what you get for buying GM
ironic cause theyre all about drag strip times 🤣
@@commentator2.0 honestly never again, the camaro was almost on my list but i ordered an m3 xdrive instead.
The worst part was that the event at the drag strip was sponsored by gm and they brought some cars and people with them, they also had photographers... now i know why, they must have taken photos of my license/vin and voided my warranty after running on the strip a few times
@@gxp99 as an American that sounds very much like what an American company would do
Why did you tell them ?
the headrest removal is a pretty cool design detail, can't say i've seen it before and it definitely solves a real problem with track cars.
the mclaren senna has it for example
This is amazing. Thank you, thank you BMW for keeping this spirit.
Thank you for keeping us motivated day by day!
@@BMWM Can i get free E46 M3 GTR on my addres pls
@@BMWM You're welcome.
Thank you, thank you
It always great to see manufacturers who know that their cars are going to be tracked, and instead of telling customers not to they encourage it. Thank you BMW.
Great for when I decide to go to the racetrack whilst doing the school run
imagine having a matte black M wagon, absolute show stopper
@@jbphilly1234Go an total you Bobbycar, leave people with taste alone.
Only a big deal in the US. Kombi BMWs and VWs are literally everywhere.
I didn't know M cars had removable brake duct covers and removable headrest covers. Those are really cool options. I think a G87 M2 will be my next car.
This is pretty stupid! Why aren't the brake ducts permanently open like on other cars!?? Most up market brake pads have good cold bite anyway so saying you don't want them cold on road is ridiculous
@@Steve-Mcgarrett Ceramic brakes don't brake well cold dumbo
@@BASHA1612 says the person replying! Real smart mate... I think you need to get glasses coz to me those look like steel drilled rotors which itself is stupid. No race car use drilled rotors because the holes are susceptible to cracking! Besides looking cool, they are USELESS!! Slotted or plain is the way to go... go get an engineering degree mate! I have one 🤣
@@Steve-Mcgarrett daaang….must’ve struck a nerve. You do you mr. Engineer 💪🏼
@@Steve-Mcgarrett Carbon Ceramics and other race-focused brake alloys, even if they have good cold bite, sound absolutely horrible when cold.
the headrest thing is genius
until the threads strip and your $3000 seat is fucked.
@@5MGE lol, you're going to track every day or something 🤣
That one piece shouldn’t be too expensive to re trim at a professional third party shop
@@5MGE self tappers ftw
I normally dislike BMWs but there is something to appreciate here
Me watching this knowing I dont have a BMW and not egtting one anytime soon.👍
you and me buddy. but one day we will :)
This is quite a change from earlier information from BMW stating warranty being voided if track use is recorded. Good job 👏
Dope video-good work guys
Thank you for this advice BMW.
Thanks, can't wait to go follow this Tut on my bmw m rn
I hope many owners take full advantage of their M car!
I totaled my beloved 135i a couple days ago, I'm taking this as my sign to stay with BMW when searching for a replacement daily.
I’d take up walking with a record like that….
@@PhilbyFavourites only poor people never experience the limit of a car
@@benfrese3573Pretty sure almost the complete opposite happens in the real world or at least with the people I have met in my 26 years of existence.
@@callumcurtis15 I live less than an hour away from the infamous Nordschleife and the first rule there is "don't crash what you can't afford to lose" effectively meaning that crashing a car is what you do in order to improve. It's just part of the game.
I love that they used the touring model
OK THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION.
Great! Now I need an M3
I appreciate the headrest thing. I had to swap headrests to wear a helmet in a car I had.
The carbon buckets seats also has accommodations for 5 point harnesses. although not direct plug and play
How do you install a harness without a brace bar behind the seat?
Thanks, Im going to try this whit my Seat Ibiza, wish me luck !
The definition of track-ready car.
Love bmw m
Great video, it remains to buy a BMW M!
Thanks BMW! Can’t wait to prep mine for the track! *drives a VW and not the cool VW but a Jetta*
BMW UK told me I couldn't track my M2 COMP or M3 COMP without voiding the warranty on brakes, suspension, gearbox and engine. This was just a normal track day at Oulton park.
Looks like I'm watching a training video before going out on the go-kart track!
Nice
Royal test drive ready almost for me I love M3 safe driver proven
nice. I`m ready! the only thing missing is my bmw M
Do the same steps apply for my Corolla?
Got my kidney grill stickers ready for the track!
you will never see Mercedes post a video like this, God I love BMW!
Wow. Does M5 F90 has air cooling duct covers?) Need to check)
Checked it.
Already open. Don't had this covers at all or it were stolen)
Does it have a place to put covers in? If yes then they were stolen.
My e46 m3 even had them. Pretty sure plenty have no about it!
@@bogdansolomko9105 E90 and F20 both also have the ducts with no covers. I think its only the G series M cars that they have started to cover. Or could be based on market of sale.
best car
Thank you for your passion!
BMW M2 is my dream car!
Don't call it a dream! Call it a plan! 😉

Will be tracking my m car (m340i) with some of these tips
M cars have 1 number.
@@mememachine5244 ? Where did you hear that? BMW themselves don’t say that.
@@TrueFilter its an m performance model. Not exactly an M model. M performance models are not designed for track use. They sure can be.
And BMW says so.
@@Errost5 hey mate. BMW says it’s m model and they make them!!!
@@TrueFilter Its an m performance model, not an M model.
M performance Models are from BMW AG, and not from the M gmbh. They even got different VID's
They are not designed for tracking as their m buddies.
Bmw also says so. You should google the differences.
Its a standard bmw model with a couple M parts.
It got no M engine and no M powertrain and so on.
There is a big difference between M and m performance. M Performance cars doesnt even have a track mode.
Get over it.
Thank you for the info
2nd to Nothing
Never knew about the removable plate for brake cooling? Is this on other M models, like the F90?
Even the Fseries models have it. My 2014 M235i has it too.
Dengan bos endriko keristiyan mantap
🔥🔥🔥💪🏽
heyy i recognize that circuit :) HI from brno
Looking at that car get me going whooo sweaty
Im going to try this on my 136hp F44
Don't have an M one but on my 320i i just start up an engine :)
Amazing, now all I need is a BMW M Model car LOL
does this work on my 318i ?
nice a car we dont get in the states
Great tutorial! Now give me a car so I can do it :)
no turn signal removal?
Can we get a M3 touring in the US?
Bmw pls redesign the grille
Best prep would be keeping a number for the local recovery service in the glovebox.
One reason more why M is the best, no other car manufactor would do a video like this
Wish the wagons came back to Canada!
Got that sorted now I just need a bmw M car
If I had an M car, I doubt I would track it! They've all become too heavy for being track weapons.
At least the racing spirit is still there somehow! Consider making some lightweight M cars in the future
Take out front hood and rear hood for more lightweight performance!
Does my warranty get voided if I race with my bmw on the racetrack?
of course it does they just don‘t tell you🤫
Why are there even covers on the cold air vent for the brakes
I think for normal driving the breakes don’t need extra air. But I don’t know why they covering it
bmw do you know where the Mercedes’ channel is?
why should i even keep the cover for brake cooling on the road?
Is there to prevent rocks, or something damaging on daily bases
So you can keep temperature in the brakes when it's cold
Geiler Scheiss! Grüße nach München
Really looking looking up to buying one! But my monthly salary is like 1000 bucks soo Opel Omega or some cheap ass E class will be my next car.
Love the m3 wagon but WHERES MINE
love it and I don't even own one
Just making sure...does the racetrack require a BMW subscription?
I press the PS button on the controller and start a game 😀
Sadly that as I can afford when it comes to M cars... I drive BMW, but a diesel... So no racing for me 😂
BMW is the last non supercar car company where you get the feeling they actually like to drive.
They should make an m3 Cs touring 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
want m3 awd
Only if you have latest model M what about my easily more fun e46 M3
i never saw that model before
Great video, but first i need a M...
Why is the cooling for breakes coverd?
The cover is to keep road debris getting where it shouldn't. You don't need that kind of airflow on public roads so it risks doing more harm than good if there wasn't a cover.
Tutorial to get my M Modell?
get some office job with a bullshit name like “senior marketing strategy team manager” and they give you one for free (they all drive one they don’t want u to know?
Make sure your lease is all paid up on the Ultimate Leasing Machine
And what mode better for track? DSC OFF 4 wd? Or DSC OFF 4wd sport?
I asked the same question (when to use the MDM, and the behaviour of M340i in sport plus mode) and silence was their answer.....
I don't know why they show these kind of videos if they don't explain technic issues when you ask....
@@nalon1 for best lap times you want DSC in traction mode, for fun or learning driving techniques you want DSC completely off. Obviously you want the gearbox in sport and driving mode in sport+ or individual
@@nalon1 I read about 4wd as a best result on bimmer forum. But in my opinion - 4wd sport is more easy to put inside turn.
So on my track (Achna speedway) I use more often 4wd sport.
MDM or DSC OFF - no matters for me, because I never get the electronic to interrupt throttle or sth like that.
@@lechprotean More interesting - 4wd mode on M series
Because some folks says that 4wd better
Another one only 4wd sport
I ask it above M3 touring Nurburg record - no answer.
I think it was DSC OFF for sure.
But what 4wd mode? It is easier fills as a driver, but impossible to check by video
Thanks for making my dream come true by building ///M3 wagon, and then immediately shattering it by not offering it in the North American market. Woulda bought it instantly if BMW did.
So this means if something breaks on the racetrack, it will be covered by BMW warranty ?
It won't make it to the track.
Ill keep this video ready when I go shopping for doughnuts
Bring that damn touring model to the US, please.
Do I need to pay "driving on track - $8.99 per lap" subscription?
how about making a Manual option for all cars, specifically the M340i. sincerely frustrated owner.
why don't we get touring models in the states? :(
This is 100% problem that I face every day.
BMW: The Ultimate Subscription Machine! 😂
Thumbnail looked like you were disarming an airbag in the steering wheel. And I was like… 😮😅
Me, with a stock Peugeot 306 watching this: "Hmm, yes."
BMW we need race tracks near Munich
When i own a car like this i would take the caps from the break cooling right off
The highway is my race track
i love how they showed the wagon even though more than half of the people watching cant get it. BRING THE WAGON BACK TO NORTH AMERICA
xD Nice humor.
BMW please bring the wagon back to the US
me watching this while driving a normal Clio Mk4
