Watch This Before You See Elvis

- Elvis Presley was a singer, an actor, and a one-man cultural phenomenon - not to mention one of the few people who's ever lived that you can impersonate as a career. It's only fitting that he would get the biopic treatment, and now, thanks to director Baz Luhrmann, it's happening with style.
The simply-titled "Elvis," which spent years in development before being further delayed by the pandemic, is finally being released in June 2022, and it sounds like it was worth the wait. Starring Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, the movie has been described by Lisa Marie Presley as "nothing short of spectacular." Curious about this chronicle of the King? Then watch this before you see "Elvis."

What do you think of the portrayal of Elvis from the trailers so far?
I like the performance but Butler just doesn't look or feel the same
Edit: GUYS, I'm definitley looking foward to the film and I think it'll be good, im just thought that He doesnt look much like elvis which sorta takes out the charisma Elvis had IMO. But now I realised I was wrong, his performance can definitley bring alot of neat stuff to the table and that this film won't be so centered on him performing and how the world loved him but more about the parts we don't see, his struggles and his downsides etc. so thank you for enlightning me.
Looks like it will be amazing, really getting into his introduction to music and gospel singing, and connection to the poor community where he grew up. And also his relationship with his manager. Can't wait to see this movie!
Hello,Zi I love this song it’s one of my best Elvis songs I’m sharing my business partnership with you if you don’t mind it’s quite way easy in making money online and for the future.?
They chose the right guy to portray the King.
With what I've seen so far, Butler really captures the movements, the voice and the essence of Elvis!
I don't think anyone else could pull it off, Baz is a genius.
Can't wait to see this movie, it will be epic!!!
@@bakivaotuua9120 I'm really excited to see it. Haven't seen anything on the big screen since 2019!
I saw the movie and loved it. Saddened by the details regarding the effects of the Tom Parker/Elvis relationship - can't help but wonder how different Elvis' life would have been without the control of Parker. As far as Austin Butler - OMG - what a talent! This should be a turning point in his career! I would love to see him win an Oscar for his portrayal of Elvis - he is THAT awesome!
FRR AUSTIN IS A GOD
I saw it too and practically drooled over Austin
I think that past is the past and we should remember Elvis in our prayers and not make his life a joke there is only one Elvis Presley and that is the king 👑 himself i think that that film should not have been on in the movie s let him rest in peace 🕊️
@@bernieoneill8758 did you see the movie? It didn't feature all the bad..the rumors, the drugs, the women. It was very respectful. It portrayed how him & the music brought the people of color (& their talent) more respect in a time of segregation..how he sang "if I can dream" in his special as a message dedicated to MLK & Bobby Kennedy...what a gentleman he was & how he was used by Tom Parker as a work mule. I'm not a fan of the other so called films about his life..but this was genius...Austin was amazing!
@@bernieoneill8758 i can’t see how u think they made his life a joke that’s a ridiculous comment to make . It was mostly true to life as praised by Priscilla and his daughter . And Austin did a fantastic job of bringing elvis back to a new generation as my daughter and I saw it an absolute loved it bc she remembered as a child me playing Elvis old Lps & EPs regularly and now she understands my live for him
Pricilla and Lisa saw it and said it was a good portrayal of Elvis, good enough endorsement for me.

It's good to see that the people who were actually there and knew him thought it was great!
I don't see the need for making another Elvis movie. Jonathan Rhys Meyers' Elvis movie was the best and ultimate portrayal of The King. I doubt this one will be as good as Meyers' Elvis. Just my 2 cents.

Austin Butler was Beyond phenomenal.
Most complex & multi-layered biopic I've ever seen. Every character is shown in both flattering & unflattering ways. Austin Butler deserves an OSCAR for this! Truly jaw dropping performance by him.
Agreed
Tom Hanks was so amazing at being the bad guy it was hard to process- I almost walked out of the theatre . He deserves an Oscar as well as Austin IMO
Could not agree more. Absolutely GENIUS.
Austin Butler was the worst "image" of Elvis ever seen. Nothing, not one thing about him, reminds me of Elvis. Worst choice ever for that fairytale movie. Extremely ugly, eyes like a se serial killer, couldn't sing.... Couldn't even act!!!
There are so many "errors" in that movie, so it's unbelievable. They couldn't even pick the right person for that role!
And why is that woman Priscilla all over the movie, she was never an important person, even she think she was? Poor Elvis, forced into that marrige....
This movie, on a scale of 0 to 10, it gets minus 10.
@@ritahall2378 Austin Butler was so real in the movie that he made Tom Hanks seem like a cartoon character, it was like they where making too different movies for me ... and the voice-over was just awful.
I saw the movie Elvis this week. I’m very impressed by the acting of Austin Butler. He portrayed Elvis brilliantly. Austin and Tom Hanks both deserve an academy award for their performances..
My mom was a huge fan of Elvis as a you g teenager and adult. She recently passed away, and going through her things, I found 3 original scrapbooks she’d made in the 1950’s of him. THEN I saw this movie. Needless to say, I ugly-cried at the end of the movie, have ordered/bought about 20 of his movies on DVD and am treasuring looking through these scrapbooks! ❤️
God bless you dear. It hurts so very much to loose a beloved parent. With Elvis/Austin Butler to see you Thu, your Mom is with you.
It's like finding a hidden treasure. Good for you!
I did not think he looked like Elvis at all....but...he became Elvis...at times you really cant tell them apart..amazing movie...
Saw Elvis in concert when I was 8 yrs old - almost 50 yrs ago. Austin Butler’s performance gave me cold chills more than once during the movie, as if I was transported back decades and was in the presence of Elvis himself. This is movie magic we have not seen in a very, very long time. Austin Butler should absolutely walk away ….. no run away …..sprint with an Oscar. He is THAT damn good. Truly “wow worthy.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Agree! He’s awesome!
👍🏽⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sorry but the movies was a bit fat zero based on what it could have been. Austin was great playing 1950's Elvis but after that he either didn't carry himself as Elvis or the script fell flat. The movie came of as a not so serious narrative story by Tom Hanks. It had the wrong vibe and wrong look.
Elvis was and is the man. Who can deny that. He absolutely had the talent and was inspiration to a lot of performers. Gone longer than he was here and still the man.

I didn't think that they were going to be able to pull one damn thing off in this film! The ENTIRE thing is brilliantly done!!! By the end of it I was so emotionally by what was going on that I had my head in my hands sobbing because I what was happening to Elvis! ALL of which I know and known about all my life (I'm 44) but it was so well told that it was COMPLETELY over whelming that I could not contain myself!

Just mind blowing , I was crazy about Elvis as a young girl, all that crazy feeling came back on seeing this performance.Well done Austin ! You really worked hard to be Elvis.God bless you.
Have seen Elvis movie.Could watch it over and over all day every day
I have seen it 2X. I am a product of the 50’s. Loved Elvis from the moment I heard “Heartbreak Hotel”! Austin Butler played ELVIS brilliantly! Of course, there will never be another ELVIS but Austin did an Oscar-winning performance! If you are a fan of the King of Rick ‘n Roll, this movie is a must. I learned a lot of Elvis’s early life! ❤️
ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU 👑
I've seen it twice as well. Amazing movie!
@@angelababy6490 I heard that the movie would be released on the 14 of this month have you heard too?

Brilliant movie (as expected from Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin). So very sad though - I burst into tears at the end 😭
best movie iv seen in a long time...ELVIS..the acting iconic
I just saw the movie!! It was amazing, I 10/10 highly recommended to go see it. Wonderful job Austin butler and the director and other cast members!! Great job
Austin was absolutely stunning as Elvis! Sometimes you couldn't tell the difference between the two!
He does not even look like Elvis Presley he looks more like James Dean. And as far as this movie goes it's not a great portrayal of Elvis's story or of Elvis himself. Elvis Presley was an angel given to us from God that his music will live forever. This movie Won't Be Remembered past a year or two.
I think you may need to get your eyes tested. 👀 👓

I went to see Elvis 2 days ago and I wad overwhelmed on how good it was especially since I'm not an Elvis fan and I wouldn't be surprised if it got an Academy Award.

GREAT MOVIE - GO SEE IT -ON THE BIG SCREEN - SAW IT TWICE - DESERVES AN EMMY
Elvis was quite literally the best movie ive ever seen! Austin Butler was born the play Elvis. Ive seen the movie 5 times in theaters and it still shocks me about how great it is.
I saw it 11 TIMES in theatres…good enough for me ❤❤❤
Butler even looks like a young Elvis. That was a great choice!
Not even close.
Sorry, done saw it twice. It is FABULOUS!!!! Want to see it again.
Just saw the movie. Outstanding. Elvis should have lived to be a grandfather. I was crying as I left the theatre. A tragedy he died so young.
I'm so glad someone finally made a great movie of EP. It was riveting, fantastic, moving.
Thanks for the synopsis - saw the movie last night. A great biopic which reminds us just how profound the "Elvis effect" was. Austin Butler puts on a show worthy of his character and has to be close to an Oscar. Tom Hanks takes on a different challenge and delivers, if not to the same level of Butler. Baz Luhrmann - Moulin Rouge was incredible and Elvis is right up there. For Elvis fans (and even non-fans) this is a must-see.
I was 10 when Elvis died. I remember watching the funeral on TV.
I enjoyed this movie, and cried at the end.
This boy is beautiful and a perfect Elvis. The film was great, and a learning experience about the true artist life.

Been to see the movie twice !!! and all i can say is wow wow wow well done!!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing Elvis live before he died. I was a big-time Beatles fan and all but 19 years old. My boss and friend at the time was a big Elvis fan, he even named his tricked-out truck King Creole on the side. Well, I was ok with seeing him perform I was entirely blown away by his voice, charm, and his all-out effort to build up what I would call a once-in-a-lifetime gig but after I realized that he did this for all his shows! I was mesmerized by the legend who was the man who gave it all every night! Thank You Elvis and RIP who after that day became one of my musical idols!
My grandkids are taking me to see it soon, they know I’m one of his biggest fans😊 Don’t think I’ve truly been able to forgive those who only used Elvis as their meal ticket, ignoring what was happening to him with all the drugs 🤨 But I wanted to comment on your bosses “ tricked out truck”. I miss seeing that these days. Some guys even put their girlfriends name on the back fender, but mostly songs. One that was very popular to see was Earth Angel 😇 great song too. Hope our younger generation will have a chance to love the “ old days” as much as we do our “ old days” 🙏🇺🇸
I love this. I wish I would’ve been alive to see him perform!
What year did you see El..?

Went to see the movie, it was really good, I loved the storyline I was really impressed with the movie and also sad Elvis was so talented. Everything that my mom told me about Elvis and his career was true based on how they portrayed history, that was my mom's era and she shared light on his popularity and that Elvis was considered a juvenile delinquent, my mom also told me that Colonial Parker was a concern based on news reports of that time.
My father was a huge Elvis fan and growing up and always told me that colonel Tom Parker was the death of Elvis and after seeing the movie my dad was absolutely correct and as for the movie it was fantastic.
Seen it a great story of Elvis great actor’s more real than other’s and came from people who knew Elvis best
Baz Lurman is an artistic genius.
I couldnt see the actors as their repeftive characters until i saw the trailer. Everything is just perfect
The film is one amazing rollercoaster ride!
Go see it!!!
A new generation of Elvis fans.
Elvis lives on !
✌
Nope he's being criticized by Gen Z who think he's overrated and stole from more talented black artists.
Had this movie been released in 2000 it would do better but we're living in a more diverse less white centred world. New generation fans? Hardly. He's just seen as an irrelevant old white dude by many in Gen Z.
I am so glad for the delay or we may not have had Austin Butler as Elvis - the movie was wonderful!
The movie was outstanding
Saw this movies yesterday. Magnificent !!!!
When I saw the trailer, I wasn't so sure whether Austin would do Elvis right, but I saw the movie today and I was awestruck how he completely embodies Elvis. It is hard to fathom how utterly jaw dropping his performance is. If you love Elvis, you've got to see this. Even if you don't love Elvis. Ignore your reservations if you have them. Just go. I saw him in concert in Oct. of 76. He was not the svelte person he had been years earlier but his voice was unbelievable. He belted out the song "Hurt" which was fairly new and he didn't miss a note. Years later I was talking with a guy I worked with (who was 6'6" and made of muscle) and he told me that he was at that concert too.
