They need more of a system. They need to be able to counteract a team that forecheck as well as Florida. They need defensemen who dont give away the puck in front of Igor and who can move the puck to forwards for breakaways when a team like the Panthers commits to the forecheck. They lolligagged when Flordia dumped the puck and waited while 2 forwards banged the defenseman around and then centered the puck for a lightening fast scoring oppurtunity. There were no adjustments. Each team plays a different style. You have to adjust a bit if your game plan sucks and isnt working.
Pulse of my fandom: They need a guy like Bertuzzi would be a great fit, also Marchesault would be a nice add to the top 6. A total rebranding of the bottom 6 is very much needed as well.

Buying out Trouba IMO is not a good move. he only has 2 years left. If you buy him out you only saving 4million per year the next 2 years then ADD 2 more years of 2 million in a cap hit per year.

That means picking up over 5.5 million in extra space. Trading Trouba makes way more sense. even if it's for nothing much in return. Miller should not be “untouchable”. Yes The guy has a ton of natural ability and skill. On the other hand He’s not very physical. He has too many lapses in the D zone. He gets beat to the outside far too often. His positioning is questionable. He gets caught up ice a lot, makes some bad decisions with the puck, and turns it over too frequently. I would definitely listen to offers on him.
The organization's top priority should be getting Mika to waive his NMC so that they can trade him. He breached his contract by failing to show up for the playoffs three straight years now, so it's only right for him to waive it. But if not - if he insists on being unreasonable - then they should make his life miserable in NYC. Slip some dog poop into his skates. Send guys to heckle his DJ sets. Stop laundering his uniform until he smells so bad that nobody will sit near him on the bench. Before long he'll be begging Drury to trade him. Then they can move him for Brady Tkachuk, and the Cup will be ours.
It's obvious the Rangers need to bulk up. Carolina and Florida will be very tough to beat next year. The Rangers are also married to a bunch of long-term contracts.

From what I saw in this year's playoffs, I think we should: Cut/get rid of Trouba and Kakko and target Jonathan Marchessault, Tyler Bertuzzi and Brett Pesce
Brennan Otthman is a very physical & offensively talented forward. Put him on RW with Z & K. Second line rocks. Third line needs major overhaul. Chytil could be the center there, but I feel like he's one hit away from being concussed again. Edstrom & Cullye could be the wingers. The Fourth line would be Goodrow, Vesey & Rempe. Trading Kakko would be the best thing for him & the Rangers. People will think I'm crazy but I'd trade him to Vancouver for Podkolzin & a draft pick. The Canucks have been busy screwing up Podkolzin who is a terrific hockey player, who could develop into a major piece. He was too good for the AHL so they brought him up but he sat until the last couple of playoff games. He got 13 goals in his rookie year & then disappeared last year. Don't know why. I never liked Kaako, even as a junior. His best attribute is his shot which is above average.

We can blame individual players for the collapse and the list would be endless. You could blame Zib, Panarin, Kreider, Trouba, Gustafsson (for that awful penalty in game 5 robbing us of a pivotal 5 on 3), Kakko, Fox, among many others, who all of them at some point or another played disgraceful hockey. But I'm looking at the bigger picture and I put the blame square on Drury. The Rangers were the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference and would've shredded Boston, but we never stood a chance against Florida. They were the best team in the East, always one full step ahead of us even in the regular season (9 games, ZERO regulation wins!!), and it was the worst matchup by far that we could've ran into. By Drury going so light at the deadline he gambled that we wouldn't run into them, and he lost big time. Getting Roslovic and Wennberg at the deadline cost us this series. And it was a huge deviation from Drury's approach the last 2 years, getting Copp and Vatrano in 2022 which helped us, and getting Kane and Tarasenko which didn't help us but these were the right acquisitions and Drury did his best with what was out there at the time. Acquiring two 3rd liners sealed our fate against that team. Now there are no more excuses. The Rangers are about 3 pieces away from winning a Cup. We need a 1C/1RW and 2 big gritty defenseman. There isn't a lot of cap space to get a guy like Sam Reinhart or Guentzel who are going to command a lot of money and a long term deal. I think we will need to settle for a guy like Stamkos on a 2 year deal worth 6.25 mil a year. I don't want to hear Stamkos is washed as he just scored 40 goals again last year. Due to his age he won't command a long term deal. You can get him by shaving Kakko's 2.1 million and paying 50% of Trouba's salary (Rangers pay 4 mil, trade destination shaves the other 4). You can put him with Panarin and Lafrienere on line 1 and go Zib-Trocheck-Kreider line 2. From there and this is equally as important, you have to get 2 big D-men in the range of 6'4 225 who can go toe to toe with Florida in the event of a rematch next year. If we'd had even ONE of these three pieces I just mentioned, this series last week would've at the very least went 7 games. Terrible job by Drury this year.

Nobody mentions the fact that Kreider and Mika are the problem. Kreider DOES NOT go into the corners. So Mika has to do the dirty work for him. Kreider does NOTHING at even strength. That’s why all the RW they tried there failed.

I'm not defending these guys, because I don't really know them well, but hockey is really difficult to predict. People are wrong all the time, even so-called experts. You can never be certain of anything.
The bottom line is Trouba and Miller are horrible against good pressing teams. Trouba has no idea who his man is (example: Bennett’s goal in the last game, Trouba tried to hit the man without the puck as they skated across the blue line) and Miller is always caught out of position. Igor wanted to skate over to Trouba and rip the C off his sweater. The Rangers should have kept Brady Skjei … even with the lack of scoring the Rangers could have won if they played solid defense. Trouba and Miller Need to be wearing different uniforms next year

Here's the deal Panarin has to go. He is not built for the playoffs this is his second year in a row where he completely went to sleep. Dude didn't have a goal since game 3 of the Carolina series. And when you get into an Eastern conference final where the difference between winning and losing is splitting hairs he's supposed to be that difference and he zeroed out. He made changes to his game which were great in the regular season but the NHL is about the second season. When your top goal scorer who was one of the league leaders too, can't put one goal on the board in 9 straight all the way up to the Eastern conference finals and is on his second straight play off no show, it's time to move on. And you can get some great value for him too. I say do it.
Everything has to be on the table. This team only has 3-4 untouchables in my opinion. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a huge deal in the works.

Acquiring two 3rd liners sealed our fate against that team. Now there are no more excuses. The Rangers are about 3 pieces away from winning a Cup. We need a 1C/1RW and 2 big gritty defenseman. There isn't a lot of cap space to get a guy like Sam Reinhart or Guentzel who are going to command a lot of money and a long term deal. I think we will need to settle for a guy like Stamkos on a 2 year deal worth 6.25 mil a year. I don't want to hear Stamkos is washed as he just scored 40 goals again last year. Due to his age he won't command a long term deal. You can get him by shaving Kakko's 2.1 million and paying 50% of Trouba's salary (Rangers pay 4 mil, trade destination shaves the other 4). You can put him with Panarin and Lafrienere on line 1 and go Zib-Trocheck-Kreider line 2. From there and this is equally as important, you have to get 2 big D-men in the range of 6'4 225 who can go toe to toe with Florida in the event of a rematch next year. If we'd had even ONE of these three pieces I just mentioned, this series last week would've at the very least went 7 games. Terrible job by Drury this year.
Trouba needs to go. All of their options open if CD makes that move. They aren't winning a Cup with an $8M third pair Dman.

If the Rangers keep Kakko, then in my opinion put him on the line with Panarin and Trochek, then move Laf on the 1st line. Kakko hasn't had much talent to play with after the kid line.
Nobody mentions the fact that Kreider and Mika are the problem. Kreider DOES NOT go into the corners. So Mika has to do the dirty work for him. Kreider does NOTHING at even strength. That’s why all the RW they tried there failed.
You guys are the last people I’d look to for hockey advice. Wrong way more than you are right. Only reason I’m listening is cause I don’t see the Drury press video out yet.
I'm not defending these guys, because I don't really know them well, but hockey is really difficult to predict. People are wrong all the time, even so-called experts. You can never be certain of anything.

The bottom line is Trouba and Miller are horrible against good pressing teams. Trouba has no idea who his man is (example: Bennett’s goal in the last game, Trouba tried to hit the man without the puck as they skated across the blue line) and Miller is always caught out of position. Igor wanted to skate over to Trouba and rip the C off his sweater. The Rangers should have kept Brady Skjei … even with the lack of scoring the Rangers could have won if they played solid defense. This is what drury should and is gonna do find a trade for Trouba kakko gone lindgren hopefully gone unless he takes a team friendly deal or discount and have him as 3rd pair PK guy sign Stamkos trade for chychrun somehow and maybe wait for deadline to trade chytil after he gets his value back up for a real 3C the rangers need another real top RW need a lefty top Defenseman to play with fox and the deadline will cover the 3C issue cuz I think chytil needs to go eventually too there’s enough soft players in the top core group guys like Chytil kakko ain’t gonna cut it also I don’t think miller getting traded is likely but even he I think is on the table if a good return comes back
Here's the deal Panarin has to go. He is not built for the playoffs this is his second year in a row where he completely went to sleep. Dude didn't have a goal since game 3 of the Carolina series. And when you get into an Eastern conference final where the difference between winning and losing is splitting hairs he's supposed to be that difference and he zeroed out. He made changes to his game which were great in the regular season but the NHL is about the second season. When your top goal scorer who was one of the league leaders too, can't put one goal on the board in 9 straight all the way up to the Eastern conference finals and is on his second straight play off no show, it's time to move on. And you can get some great value for him too. I say do it.
