    I haven't experimented yet but I've heard that watering your lawn helps the fog sort of stick to the ground even better. May be worth a try!

    adding frozen water bottles into your output tube will give you a much better result if you're looking for ground fog. You need the fog to be colder than the air for it to stay close to the ground.

    I run similar chillers in my haunt. The only difference is that I use flexible drier duct and I dump my ice out of the bags into the chillers. I find the thin duct walls and greater contact with the ice really chills the fog well. And the drier duct is collapsible for easy storage! I collapse it into the bottom of the chiller, then store stuff in there.

      Huh, have you tried both methods to compare? I ran across the dryer vent idea first, but always wondered about the fact that the idk "metalized" externals are basically an insulator so less cooling efficiency. That was what intrigued me about the leach pipe idea. More conductivity, more cooling.
      I'm just running a direct blow through with a mix of ice and dry ice, but am always looking for new ideas 👻

      @@blackc1479 I’ve tried both methods and the drier duct doesn’t work well with poking holes and the silver sticks out in sets and scenes. It really comes down to preference and what you’re using it for.

      @@menaceproductions oh, I thought it was referring to in the chiller, my bad. Yeah, kinda hard to camouflage that in the open.
      So far, I'm totally on the wet (direct contact) bandwagon. I'm wanting to try ice down the tubes as well, or maybe spreading out the chiller into a long flat design. The joy of experimentation.
      Plus. Gotta fix this: a way to muffle/silence the fog machine. That's always pissed me off.

      @@blackc1479 To add chilling elements along the tubing I've seen it done where you cut slots into the plastic tubing to drop frozen bottles of water/ice into and then sealing them in by wrapping duct or electrical tape around where you made the cuts to insert the bottles

    This is awesome!!!! Question, I’m in California. If I wanted to do this in my backyard for a movie night, how long do you think it would last without refilling Ice?

    • @menaceproductions
      @menaceproductions  2 года назад +1

      That’s tough to say, when in doubt get lots of bags of ice or dry ice, it should last you at least 4-6 hours with 4-6 bags. And if you have really hot weather consider using an old cooler instead of a trash can

    I had a question regarding your tombstones you showed in the how to haunt video. You show they were foam with stakes screwed into back. Is that with standard screws, id think that would rip out of the foam

    • @menaceproductions

      I use star bit decking screws for years and never had a problem with it ripping out, even in 50 mph wind! I would drill holes and use rebar but the carvings are too deep.

      Fwiw, on my smaller ones, I make a L support out of scrap wood, attach it to the back w construction adhesive (full disclosure, mostly successful, but have had a couple that just weren't feeling it.)
      Then I drill a hole on the bottom leg and pound a galvanized landscape nail through. Afterwards removing the nail makes storage easier, but the L requires careful stacking to avoid damage.

    Honest question. I bought a 1000 watt machine from spirit today and supplies from Home Depot to make the chiller and came straight home and started cranking it out. I got the trash can and tubes all together and looking nice. Hooked up the machine and let it do its thing. The fog however hardly goes into the tube at all. It kind of just billows at the entrance of the tube and dissipates into the air and nothing comes out of the tubing itself. Now, it was after I made the contraption that I realized I had bought an ice chilled machine. So I can put ice straight into the machine and it’s supposed to achieve the same effect as with the tubing but not as spread out as I’d like. The exit for the fog from the machine is also rectangular - not circular - but it didn’t work at all. The exit for the machine is smaller than the opening of the tube so I’m wondering why it’s not working the way I’d hoped. Any suggestions?

    • @menaceproductions
      @menaceproductions  2 года назад +1

      That’s awesome that you built a fog chiller, kudos to you!
      As for the fog machine itself, I sorry to say spirits fog machines don’t have large number for fog output (CFM) compared to Chauvet and AmericanDJ. The one you purchased is meant to slowly push out fog through its built in ice area and not push out large volumes of it through tubing or in a large space.
      I would recommend returning that fog machine and fog juice to spirit and purchasing the fog machine I referenced in the video along with fog juice from Froggys fog or Rosco, hope this helps!

    i tried it this way, and it failed badly. you need to cut the pipe inside the pail put the inlet end near the top, the out let near the bottom. thats why your smoke is all over the place its still way too warm.

      to each their own, for me this is the easiest way to do it and achieve the effect I wanted. You're right about the fog in the video its still too warm, this day happened to be close to 100 degrees so I needed more ice!
