Also I found out long ago that my hair does NOT like Combs either, or the Boar Bristle Brush, especially on my edges. Although my edges r fragile, I tend to swoop them backwards using conditioner and a little oil. I never comb it when dry, it is not going to work, so I use a hard plastic brush when wet similar to the one u showed by Felicia Leatherwood. What a difference, less breakage all together. As u said in another video, when u get to know ur hair and it's needs, I think then we r on the right track. My hair is not only growing, but getting so much thicker. Luv it. I honestly got fed up with trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my very much 4cde hair and I cut it completely off in the fall. I started using a black owned hair care line I found on IG and so far I’m still trying to c how I really feel about the line. I am noticing changes though in certain areas. I have also started working in a routine where I am placing more focus on my skin care and watching what I eat. Lastly I am working on talking to my hair in a positive way. Before I would say I don’t like my hair, I can’t find anything that helps my hair and just not loving my hair period. So I think changing the way I spoke about my hair and how family members made comments also about my hair has made me want to feed positivity to myself. Thank you again for the constant motivation Dr. Nina😘 much luv.

Hydration helps my hair. I wash my hair every two weeks or once month.

Some of the things that are working for me now are only using heat on it about twice a month. Wrapping it every night and using wide tooth combs to manipulate it. 😊

Thanks Dr. Nina. I currently have braids and I work out every second day...and sweat a lot in my hair. Do you have any tips on getting rid of this sweat while keeping hair moisturised?

I've learned that my 4C hair, can't handle the (fake) hair for braids anymore. Fenugreek & Rosemary is great as a tea, water, and even adding to your shampoo & conditioner for growth.

How long do you keep your braids in when you get them?

  • @NicknameAarie

I had to stop with the braids. And loved them! Twists work better for my hair. Especially at takedown. For some reason the tangles that come with cornrows (even under crochet) are hard to take down without losing a lot of hair.

Same! Since I have been home during the pandemic all I do is twist and my hair is so much healthier!

Yay! Be careful with the rice water. I have heard many people say that overusing it causes protein overload and hair breakage. I hope this helps!

I use the aloe Vera plant as a pre-poo to help detangle, I use a medicated shampoo to help with seb dermatitis symptoms, follow up with a moisturizing shampoo then I go straight to a deep conditioner (leave in overnight)
I eat more veggies and fruit and staying away from process food. I take Vit D every day.

I'm in the mend stage! Natural but the protective styles put too much tension on my fragile hair.

I stop using gels and Edge controls on my edges and hair
Also I do more protective hair style on my natural hair like mini braids, I use shea butter and I stop playing in my hair often also I pre-poo before shampooing my hair n I wash my hair in four sections

I can’t use Cantù, gels, rice water or mix chicks on my hair. It makes it hard and crunchy

I have sisterlocks, so I’m not sure I can use conditioner like that. I need to research and see. I do wash often and I use scalp oils and massage and spray Jamaican Black Castor Oil Water as well as distilled water. Drinking water is important. What do you think of sparkling water daily?
