Hey dude. I loved your review! You nailed most (if not all) the points I wanted to state. By the way, you have a terrific speaking voice. I was really entranced by what you had to say. No homo xD
Cheers man! I get a lot of mixed views on the voice, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Wolf Children just really amazed me, guess you could call what you're hearing passion xD
Join the club! I don't think an animated film has ever got me closer than this to flooding my house out. Its an amazing film one that I now want to watch again just because of your comment xD the feels are great!
I watched this movie very recently and this was my first anime film . I saw how talked about this movie was, how highly rated and still was reluctant to watch it. But now that I have seen it, MY OH MY! The art of storytelling, the animation, the relatability with the characters and the number of times it emotionally rattled me was barely believable. I saw a couple of videos criticising its narration and a flawed depiction of Hana and her motherhood and I got a bit angry which shows how much I have fell in love with the movie. It is indeed a masterpiece on many grounds and easily walks into my top 5 movies of all time list. Anime needs to be taken seriously, the movie came right at my face and I am glad it did and here I stand with a complete changed perception
I finished the blu ray before seeing your review. It was truly amazing. Can't stop tearing up. If they make a continuation to this...well I hope focus on Yuki and Ame learning that they are not human or wolf, they are both. To deny one part is to deny the whole of them.
Totally agree. This is probably one of the best animated films i've seen and i've seen a lot. Summer Wars and this movie I would almost dare to put on par with a Miyazaki film. I agree the voice acting was good. It wasn't amazing but I think for an english dub it was probably one of the best. Definitely for a Funimation dub.
Wolf Children is definitely better than some Ghibli films. From Up on Poppy Hill, The Secret World of Arrietty, My Neighbor Totoro, etc. I agree with your opinion on the dub. I got the DVD (:
Totally. What Arreitty did right was it's art. The backgrounds in that movie were gorgeous. But the story was just simply too familiar for us westerners. We've had too many barrower/house fairy stories that the plot was just simply too predictable. From Up on Poppy Hill I actually enjoyed, though for sure not as much as Wolf Children. It was a plot that was new territory for me. So that's why I found it interesting. It was for sure Ghibli's best love story, though then again, Ghibli doesn't really have many lol. And Totoro really only has a nostalgia factor for those who saw it when they were younger. Seeing it when you're older it doesn't hold up as much since it is probably the most childish story out of all of Ghibli's films. Wolf Children's Director, Mamoru Hosoda is definitely a guy to keep an eye on. I think with Miyazaki retiring, Hosoda-san could be a great new director to pick up the slack. Goro Miyazaki is still pretty green, I wasn't a fan of Tales of Earthsea. The beginning was interesting but the story fell flat in the second half. He defiantly redeemed himself though with Up From Poppy Hill. I'm not gonna give up on him yet, but for sure Hosoda-san is for sure a fantastic new director in the world of animation. He's already got 3 incredibly interesting films under his belt. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
it didnt make me cry but my heart whas just in pain the whole way thru cuzz there struggle and when there dad died myheart just got crushed i knew it whas coming but i couldnt not watch my heart splay into a million pices like a dog treat
Wow i actually disagree with you on the music portion...i felt that this was a rare case where the music made the scene that much better...it wasnt like other movies where an action scene happens and the music is there to drown out the sound of punches being thrown...the music shown throughout the movie was brilliantly placed, to where it touched you...especially the ending....
Sorry I took so long to get back to you, been away for a while! Yeah I use them all the time mainly for imports when something will probably never come to the UK. Their items are completely legal/official... You're supporting the industry, so I couldn't recommend them anymore! (Be aware of regional codes though if you are using them for imports)
The movie was pretty bad. Some say the movie is symbolic and shows that some have a harder time than us. I hardly see that and just ask why they needed to use the gimmick of wolf children to convey that. Why not make a story of children in Africa, now there we have something powerful and not just something to appeal towards kids and furries. No one in the story felt real except maybe for Yuki, All the feelings they had where happy, sad and rarely anger. The mother never breaks down for example, and just treats her kids oh so good. No though love in a situation like this huh. Nothing happens in the story, If we where to draw a climax curve for what happens it would look like a heart rate monitor that is attached to a dying 120 year old. Its small events that dont have any meaning most of the time. We could basically make this movie a half hour short. The end was just Ame leaving his mother like and asshole while theres a storm going on. He just leaves without a word, its like he dousnt care about her. If it was more realistic then maybe the fact that his mother is living in the forest having a welcoming home and thinking about her kids in the end would have felt more gratifying. The only real sad part about the story is the sincere change of Yuki from being a kid that loves nature but later getting influenced by society, forgetting what she liked and ultimately becoming a new person just to fit in. Maybe that could have been something. To show how living like and animal/Ame ( as our selves ) is better than taking Yukis path. Overall the music was often great and the animation was pretty good. But the story felt like it had no meaning. Overrated.
Okay, it"s fine if you post your opinion in the comments, that"s the whole point. But don"t EVER spoil a movie/anime ending for ANYONE. And i know this is an old comment, but you probably spoiled the ending of the movie for a lot of people, including me.
***** Sorry, wanted to go back and edit it but I cant seem to do that for some reason. Theres even some spelling errors. Anyways, what did you think of what I had to say?
I haven"t seen the movie, but I"m considering to watch it, since i like movies/animes that make me feel emotional (and yes, I"m a male :D ). But I cannot tell anything about your opinion, since i haven"t seen it. I"ll come back after i see it and tell you my opinion ;)
when it ended i felt a void in my heart
you weren't the only one.
