- 1961 brought some big changes to the Gibson Les Paul, most notably a sleek, all-new, double-cutaway, all-mahogany body design that would later be renamed the SG™. This Gibson Custom Shop model recreates those cherished originals, complete with a Sideways Vibrola, a side-pull action vibrato that is similar to those found on models from the early 1960s. It also has a bound Authentic '61 Thin Profile mahogany neck, Kluson® tuners, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, two Custombucker pickups, CTS® vintage-taper pots, and Black Beauty capacitors.

Loving this "distortion only" limited edition model.
And that´s how a great guitar finds a great guitar player... awesome!
Love this comment
That’s some of the best guitar tones I’ve heard since the early Clapton days. Nice job man!
Thank you!
Yeah why did Clapton stop using Gibson ?
The way Gibson makes guitars nowadays is far superior to what they had in the 50s. When these guitars age they will be even better than the original bursts.
However, how long shall we wait? I am 74….
The vibrato is no good, i got a bigsby on my 1961 guitar.
@@uwetittmann1423 wait till u become centenarian.. just hold on and stay strong.. 👍
I agree completely. I’ve had several over the years. The one I have now is 13 years old. It is superb. I had one in 1964. This is much better than that of course I can play better as well.
I have the '64 CS VOS version and I can verify what this guys said: You will have a hard time putting the thing back in the case. Mine is just fantastic and I've been a player for 62+ years ... AND a Fender guy!!
Amazing tone! I got the orinal 1961 Les Paul SG. Sounds very similar! Mine is a bit more dirty in sound, due to PAFs
I bought one of these. Great guitar. best sounding guitar I've ever had .It beats my old '65 ES330 for sound too. The custom buckers are fantastic.
That is some lethal tone coming through that rig. When middle position that good you've got a nice tone. It's feeding back very nicely.
How loud is the amp in the room and does the bridge get ice picky at all? Sounds good from here
Hey! It's very loud in the room, the amp is cranked and pushed as hard as it can be. The bridge does not get ice picky but it's definitely on the brighter side. And yes we agree with you, it sounds fantastic!
I have one, it is fantastic, don’t like the vebrola
I'd trade my 2019 '61 sg with this
Did they do a more accurate sideways vibrola on the Custom Shop? I hope it's not the same trem unit they use on the production line original collection SG as that thing seemed like junk and not like the original sideways trem from 61.
All I’ve ever heard about this vibrola is that it results in tuning stability issues, even if you don’t use it. I love the look personally but not getting one until I know that isn’t an issue
@@EJH-jn6mo I never touch mine and it tunes just fine and stays in tune. It's a great guitar despite a poor tremeloe system. Just never touch it and it's fine.
Hi,
does this guitar have the binding bleeding on the neck like other VOS models?
Not this one particularly
Unga Bunga!
You need some more knowledge of the Historic line and vintage instrument history
lol replicas of third hand guitars from last century for lawyers & accountants, not real musicians. Also, they still can't get the bevels right on their own guitars
Maybe the bevels were too thin and didn’t last like they should.
