@Bill Brasky uh it was a bill that was just amended. And it was brought into place so that minorities or marginalized peoples won't have to worry about a person in power ie their boss having to call them nigger or kike. That's literally the basis of the bill. If you want to say those words so bad you're definitely a weirdo. Furthermore, there hasn't been any negative repercussions of this bill to date nor would anyone expect their to be.

@@lonewolf7626 i can assure you that on a widespread focus, it has not affected me or anyone as much as you want it to. I go about my daily life as prior to, im glad bill c-16 is a thing so my boss or any superior can't called me a nigger. This is a good bill for those who are marginalized and all that is happening is it's being amended to include pronouns. I assure you, you can go around and call someone whatever you want and nothing will happen.

The power elite have astroturfed and weaponize the valid complaints of those who were oppressed over the last century… who were oppressed & vilified by this very power elite. They do not care who they represent as long as they remain in power… by oppressing the meaningful thought, speech, and actions of everyone. The only freedoms they allow now are meaningless surface appearances… and nonsensical language. The rights of every citizen was already protected under the human rights code… therefore they needed to throw the wrench of idiocy & confusion into the mix as to have the unchecked power to censor & criminalize anyone & everyone who tries to hold our representatives feet to the fire of accountability.
Bill C16 was Canada’s doorway into an Orwellian nightmare. We have passed through that threshold now, and in a place that no one can honestly and logically make sense of. Our Rome has fallen… the destruction of our understanding of material reality is well underway. I shudder to think of how the western world will think and function in another six years!

A perfect example of how to and how not to deliver a speech. Even though the content in the lawyers speech was more pragmatic and relevant, in the way of it was more in practice what is going on and less theoretical broad interpretation. Jordan.B.Peterson had better consistency/sequence b/een his points and delivered both logically and emotionally to captivate his listeners. he delivered to a court as he should. Speech is complicated where in laymen terms, is more than just about the words themselves. Similarly its not what you say but how you say it. Mastery of language at this level is endowed only to a very few people. both parties have strong hearts and did a great job.. but i thank JBP's presence that day. As the court probably wouldnt have declined the bill and passed it if JBP wasnt there to talk that day.
2021 now, I'm not Canadian. Did it pass? I hope not, like in never. Freedom of speech is important, that is not the freedom to be obliged to speek another persons words.
Hello, Canadian here. Yes it passed both House and Senate's by a large margin and became law in 2017. No one has been jailed, fined or punished for not using the correct pronoun and it hasnt resulted in compelled speech. Its more symbolic than anything else and really hasnt changed anything for Canadians. Hope that helps.

Why do committees like this ever bother to hold hearings? They have proposed and drafted a bill (C-16), and they know that they're not going to change or amend it. They are going to pass this bill just the way they have written it because they truly believe that it's the right thing to do and that they're the smartest people in the country. They invite the public to comment on the proposed bill, knowing that nothing will deter them from passing the bill. In spite of all the arguments made by Doctors Peterson and Brown, not one iota of the bill will be changed. These hearings are held in order to prove to the voters that the committee is open minded and will accept the public comments in good faith, when, in fact, the members of this committee are close minded, and nothing will change their minds. Passing this bill was foregone conclusion, and these hearings are purely a waste of time.
