The official video depicts the story more fully. Missing here is a key moment when she visits him in prison near the 60 month mark and says simply: thank you. It’s also powerful seeing her drive his truck all those years later. That said, I was blown away with the quality of this live performance. I can’t tell with the video obscured if it was lip synched but I don’t believe it was.👏👏👏

Tony, I think it is live... Hardy was just a wee bit pitchy on the first phrase... but I think that helps prove it is not tracked.... now the musicians, not sure, they are not visible.

Loved this reaction. Many people get hung up on him doing this for a stranger, not me, and apparently not you either. Hardy is a phenomenal songwriter and performer.
The Song "Mockingbird & the crow" is an interesting glimpse into who he is. Have not been disappointed by any I have heard.

That is exactly what he did. He put his life on hold to rescue her from hell. None of us would hesitate to stop a stranger's child from wandering into a busy roadway or falling into a pond or lake. He did the same thing for an adult. This is how I see it. She probably wouldn't have been in that situation except the system failed her. A lot of men just walk right through restraining orders and often kill when they do.
He is such a multi-faceted gem that sticks to his own beliefs and that alone deserves respect

To add to the other comments... he was not bad man, he was not an evil man... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?"
I don't know Mark.. I've seen a lot of non-Christian people cry to the Lord when they get themselves in big sh*t. Not saying that is always bad but just because they end up with nowhere else to turn, doesn't make them people of faith.
After they did this video, Hardy presented Lainey with a Taurus Judge ... it's the name of a handgun! My husband had one and I shot it ONCE! It shoots 20 ga. shotgun shells and has one heck of a kick!!!! I'm with you, this is a REAL man. We all know the law's hands are tied and unless he really hurts her, there is nothing they can do! Hardy took care of that for her and traded his freedom for hers!

I have heard the song and seen this performance plus the official video many times. What I really like about her outfit is how the hat, and extreme bell bottoms balance with her caboose. Someone (maybe Lainey herself) knows how to make an outfit do justice to a body.

I know! She’s the first reactor I’ve seen who mentioned that. Angels are not the cute cuddly little toddlers you see in paintings. There’s a reason the Bible records most of their messages to people as starting with, “Don’t be afraid.” Balaam didn’t get that reassurance because he needed to be afraid.

Just an incase you didn't know, you picked up on the judge under the seat. In the video, the pewpew he grabbed from under the seat is called Judge. Hardy really thought of everything when writing this song imo.

Such a powerful song. Writing about doing the right thing, even if you have to suffer for it? Not a lot of that going on these days. Hardy isn't the best singer, there's so many AMAZING singers out there; but puts everything into it, and his songwriting is on point. Lainey Wilson, on the other hand, has ridiculous skills, and looks amazing to boot. 60 months in and would do it again? That's conviction. Also, some angels carry swords!
Lainey also played the character "Abby" on Yellowstone.
New subscriber and watching some old videos. Had to watch Hardy and Lainey for like the 1000th time. I’m a retired police officer, but I’m also a DV survivor. I was very young, and the last time I almost died. So I ran. Went into the Army. Then became a police officer. I didn’t run any more, I put cuffs on the abusers.

I always wondered in this song her vocal “ day of justice would come from a judge under the seat.” Referring to a Taurus Judge revolver playing on Hardy being the judge, jury and executioner.

FYI, I went back and watched the official video. The gun he pulls from under the seat, is not a Taurus Judge, as some viewers have stated. The Judge is chambered for .45 Long Colt/.410 shot shell. The cylinder of a Judge is 50% longer than the gun he had. The video is not that clear, but it appears to be a S&W .357 Combat Master, 3" barrel.

Some people haven't really read their Bible. Or watched Supernatural. Angels weren't gentle little robe wearing pansies. They were called the Heavenly Host because they were an army. An army of incredibly powerful beings. So powerful that most wouldn't even be able accurately perceive them as anything remotely close to a human form. They were strange and otherworldly. Floating rings of eyeballs with clustered wings? Giant pillars of fire? But when they did arrive as if they were men, they still descended on actual humans in a way that none could ever hope to stop. Righteous anger is EXACTLY what situations like this call for.

Hell yeah I love this song. He knocked and knocked and no one came. Then he put the boot to it ( kicked in the double wide door).Then he let the hammer drop before he got to that 12 he was reaching for . Didn't try to hide his pistol. Didn't try to run. He just sat there smoked dudes cigarette and waited for the cops to come.
