- East Coast(er) General was the very first non-employee to ride the coaster immediately following early morning testing at the start of the media preview event and even got the entire train to himself. This is that ride and it was only 36° F (2° C) at the time, so the coaster was running slower than usual. We'll post the mounted POV he filmed when the train was running faster that afternoon on Wednesday, so you can compare the two.
Texas Sting Ray, which opened to the public the day after this event, is the tallest, fastest and longest wooden coaster in the Lone Star State. The GCI (Great Coasters International) hybrid wooden coaster has a 96 foot (29m) tall lift hill with a 57°, 100 foot (30.5m) drop thanks to the elevated terrain the coaster is built on. Reaching a top speed of 55 mph (88.5 km/h), the ride also features large 76° banked turns, 16 different airtime hills and a 100 foot (30.5m) long tunnel along its 3,379 feet (1030m) of track.
This SeaWorld park is located in San Antonio, Texas.

One of the few content creators I can count on to not give excessive commentary during the ride. Thank you, CF!
First time riding it today. Holy Crap!!! This thing was awesome. Non stop volatility, twist and turns. One of the best coasters I've been on in years!!
This ride was super fast & pretty scary to be honest, the first drop makes you feel like you’re about to fly out of your seat and your whole body feels like it’s about to flip out with all the strength this ride is packing & the turns are super sharp and strong! It is a lot bigger/taller in person as well, especially when you’re finally up there at the top of the ride before the drop. Lots of speed for sure on the string ray.
Man, this coaster looks like a lot of fun!!!!!
It is bro. Rode it 5 days ago
it is rode it yesterday
It is we rode it today and it’s so amazing and cool
@@shionavucci I rode it yesterday as well lol at the end of the night there was no line so I got to ride it around 10 times in a row lol
I rode it today and it was epic 🦍🦍🦍
This was such an intense ride. I rode it as my first rollercoaster since 2 years due to covid. Sharp turns make you wanna fly out of your seat.
Smooth...another great GCI
Easily one of the best rides at the park! The sounds and the designs really makes you feel like it's a classic coaster! Can't wait to ride it again
I can say this is officially one of my favorite roller coasters along side Steel Eel.
This could possibly be the earliest I've seen a coaster open in the year.
West coast racers opened so late in the 2019 season that it actually opened really early in the 2020 season.
This ride looks nuts!
Hurt my neck
@@Danny-si2ny I kept screaming
It’s not too scary but it’s really fun!
I went to sea world today and this is one of the ones I went on for the 3rd time it’s one of my favorite
Why do wooden coasters always have the most G’s on them? I went on a 70 foot wooden roller coaster and the G’s felt like I was on a 200 foot drop.
They usually take it lighter with the Gs actually. Because the track is made of wood they have to or it will wear out much faster. It probably feels more intense due to the natural roughness of wooden track compared to steel.
@@nathonizamboni875 That makes sense. Going down felt like a bullet in the stomach
We’re u riding white lightning at fun spot
1AmTheBest No I rode InvadR at Busch gardens. The drop isn’t even steep idk why my stomach dropped so much
My pet hypothesis is that it's to do with the seats and restraints. Wooden coasters tend to have flat, hard benches that create pressure points, rather than the moulded plastic seats that spread your weight. They also tend to have a loose lap bar that lets you move around more and feel the Gs.
Wow. I stepped up from a kiddie coaster in my home park to this . Its a great ride. It definitely gets you used to what a common roller coaster is !
It was a rough, jerky ride! Killed my neck lol. But very fun and extremely fast!! Definitely one of the fastest "wooden" coasters I've ever been on. The initial drop is insane. It's so much steeper than it looks in the video. You literally feel like you are going to fly out of your seat and somersault forwards!!
That pole at 1:31 is the scariest part of the ride. I know they do clearance checks and you're perfectly safe, but at that speed it certainly doesn't feels a lot closer.
My heart dropped a few days ago when I was on it, I couldn't think when we were falling, js trying to keep my cool, but overall, it was a great ride, Tons of adrenaline, 10/10 from me
Fuckin sickkkkkkkk and it’s a old school wooden coaster too fuckin love these Sea World did a bad ass job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💜💜
I rode this ride with my cousin, and I passed out two times, but I would definitely want to go again!!🤣
I was wondering what this ride would turn out to be. I was at SeaWorld San Antonio last July and there was no info about this ride. I'll check it out the next time I may go there.
Looks like a great GCI and a very good addition to SW San Antonio.
Love the liftsound! :D
I'll always like the classic lift sound though. I love this sound too, though.
Just rode this last night - Front row too! Looked just like this but almost pitch black. Cold front came thru SA so it was very fast. I was impressed with the overbanked turns.
This ride is FAST. was fun but gave me a headache 😅
This ride looks like an airtime machine, as most GCIs are.
You're thinking of CCI and The Gravity Group. GCI is more known for laterals and fast paced layouts, not airtime.
Gene Bone, Alright, I get good airtime on GCIs. Also don’t be a twat and put two comments explaining why my OPINION is wrong! Maybe ride ops don’t like you and staple you for fun? Also, Reilly Walker, that doesn’t mean they don’t get airtime. Almost every GCI I’ve ridden has good airtime, however, because of the intense lateral forces and the twister layouts, which are stronger overall, it just gets a bit overlooked.
Why do you keep going on about it? Forgive me for getting airtime on most GCIs.
@@amroge8703 Yeah - GCI isn't really an airtime company...
@mystic Timbers
Talk about good pacing!
This is such an aesthetically pleasing coaster. That view from the first drop...It looks so graceful
Super fun but scary ride!!! It feels a lot higher in real life
Definitely. I was not expecting such speed and force in the first drop. Really exciting ,but it did got me a little scared hahahaha
This ride is super fun! But if your young or dont weigh alot during the drop you will feel weightless and it feels like you will come out of your seat
Love this ride
This looks fantastic!!!
Oh gosh, I remember this ride. I did not want to, but I promised my sister and mom that I would go on it and they chickened out. So my dad ended up taking me. I am not a roller coaster enthusiast and had never been on one with a significant drop. I did not know that your stomach feels like it is in your throat when you drop and I did not like it. Needless to say, in the picture I look absolutely terrified
Lol ik that feeling is like when you on a ladder and the ladder feels like it going to fall down is the same feeling but 10x times way worse thats the part a hated and the butterfly feeling in the stomach
Hey look, it’s a shed! I’m surprised they didn’t put a giant projector screen with stingrays if you know what I mean.
Went on this yesterday and when I got to that drop at the start my heart for a second dropped and bro it was one of scary things I ever did
I love how when you’re turning and twisting and then you drop down that hill into a tunnel. That’s just fun.
Damnit corona! I wanted to ride this already!
@Joseph Grief Now, SeaWorld is open but you have to wear a mask and practice physical distancing guidelines. I went there a couple days ago!
Will you be returning to normal povs and not rankings? I kinda want more povs.
Isn't this a normal POV? We'll keep posting them as soon as we can film more, but our social media team has more Top 5 videos to post in the meantime So don't expect them to go away just yet.
Ah ok! Thanks mang!
My mom shoved me onto this thing. Right when we got to the top, we realized we were screwed. I don’t think I’ll do this again, but the pictures were hilarious!
what camera or phone you using
That thing's not too shabby, even on a colder day like the day when this was filmed. And from this point of view, the ride seems to be running fast enough given the conditions. However, I can only imagine the sheer sharpness of that wind chill involved here. I would've preferred wearing a ski mask, in that regard.
Great 4K POV of Texas Stingray.
when i went on it i felt like the drop was way longer and steeper :/
This ride is awesome, especially at night. The video does not capture how fast this ride really is. It is fast, especially towards the end. Wow 👍👍👍
Wow i cant wait to go back to sea world
Ik the ride layout is very different, but the station, queue, station/transfer track layout and design are identical to Invadrs
Experience spoilers, if you want to experience it yourself don’t read:
The first time you go on this ride, it’s intense, but the second and other times, only the first drop is extreme and then the rest is chill.
This has got to be one of the best roller coasters in Texas!
Naw One Of The Worst RollerCoasters
@@xazzxazz13 and have you ridden it?
@@SlushysSecret probably not
I went on this the first day it opened and it was really exhilarating
This doesn’t even take how fast this ride is One of the best ride I’ve ever done
you can tell this is in san antonio because the trees look like they are squirming in agony while being burnt to a crisp by the sun
My uncle rode this a few days ago, he is a rollercoaster fanatic. He even said this one was scary and hurt him due to the jerkiness of it.
OMG i road this one and i almost threw up and for some reason i was feeling bad so ye- and i almost cried ;--;
That ride is sick I recommend but the steel eel 😬
I went on this ride on October and i felt if I was ganna puke and I'm never going on the ride again😒🤮
That drop is crazy 😭
It really is! I passed out lol 😅😂
I didn't I was holding on tight until I couldn't feel my body anymore
I went to the grand opening of this ride with my mom and it was so much fun
Amazing!!!!😥
How is it? Looks phenomenal.
The I could imagine the airtime being very strong if you didn't get stapled. (If you get stapled, the airtime is just OK.) The banked stuns are fun, and it's smooth for a wooden coaster.
Very fast throughout the entire ride. I highly recommend it.
.... i cryed while going on it. These was my first ever roller coaster
Dude same! But I wasn't crying tho I was just poofed out
very relaxing.
I loved this ride
If you like fast rides then this is definitely for you me personally I love fast rides but this one was a no for me don’t get me wrong it was fun but I passed out on this ride definitely recommend for people who like fast rides!
I’ve been on it and it’s so fun!
I went on this yesterday. I'm now declared a man
I’ve been in this coaster so much it’s so much fun you should buy a seaworld pass
just went on this ride like 20 mins ago, i have a headache now...
The laterals are very surprising. Very fun and whippy
the fact that i went on this roller coster which is a 100 feet drop
is this coaster similar to White Lightning at Fun Spot or American Thunder at Six Flags St. Louis?
This was the first wooden roller coaster to open at any SeaWorld park 2020. And the last coaster to open in America before the virus shut down.
We already know u just repeating what you heard in another video that talks about this coaster
Aside from easier maintenance, are the metal supports to possibly prevent it from being converted by RMC?
Only complaint is that it only has one steep drop instead of two!
Such an exciting year.
The part where it goes inside the little shack is super loud
Yeah
Is this ride rough?
It's a little rough, but if you don't like rides that aren't ultra smooth, then wooden roller coasters aren't for you.
Got on it today it’s so scary but so fun
Would it be fair to call this ride a wooden blitz coaster?
It's not really called a "blitz coaster" rather than a twister coaster.
this stingray has no chill
Looks smooth. True?
I haven't been to SeaWorld since i lived in SA 6 years ago, will someone tell me what area of the park this got put in? I can't visualize it anywhere lol
If you start at Steel Eel and walk towards Great White, you'll pass a roller coaster built in 2017 called Wave Breaker. When you pass that roller coaster, you'll pass by great white's entrance. Continue on that path past the river ride and you'll reach the enterance. The ride is positioned in a way that when you go up the lift hill, you'll be facing away from the path. I hadn't been there is six years before I went, so I relied on the map heavily.
Its next to the orca stadium
Looks smooth
This wasn't scary to me not as much as the steel eel
There no compares
@@josephrobinson7642 wdym
@@Zoeyissleepy l mean steel eel is in a whole different lane
i loved this ride when i rode it
OMG! Wow that amazing
Yay!! They're finally done
second best in the park
Let’s respect the fact that this ride only has one big big drop so it’s not so scary 😎
if you ride the wave breaker and journey to Atlantis and get used to though's 2 this ride is no problem i rode this for the first time today and it was fun the only un fun part is when i popped my funny bone that hurt pretty bad but other then that this ride is great
Gosh i went on this my first Rollercoaster and omg when it went up it bumped my stomach and my bladder
And I'm 12 but it was still very fun
Also a little girl was crying
I can still feel myself falling out of my seat-
Went on this in 3/29/21
THIS RIDE WAS AWESOME LIKE INCREDIBLE
This ride is a good time! Looks small but its feels fast and really fun!!!!
bro i thought the ride wasnt that bad when i saw it but it was my first ride so after i got off i was traumatized
I wanna go xd i gotta wait till riverboat days to go on a rolloercoaster again cri
I wouldn't be scared if I knew this would be scary
I rode this last year and I’m scarred for life, no more rollercoasters for me please…
I live 10 minutes away from sea world and this is one is so fun
Yes you made another point of view
Yee Haw
Stingrays tangled with iron rattlesnakes
better than renegade? (only answer if you've rode both)
I have done that it was so fun
Hmmm - I’m a little underwhelmed.... it’s not doing a whole lot except turning...
Way faster than I thought!
