America is like Australia's big cousin. I think North Australia is more American-friendly because of our commitment to each other as allies. We both have shared histories with Britain, same as New Zealand and Canada. I was born in Darwin, NT and it was attacked by the Japanese during world war 2 and we had American ships in the harbour that were sunk and many young Americans fought and died in my hometown. One of the last American survivors of the Darwin Bombings, had his ashes spread in my hometown harbour on the site where his ship went down. That was the ship called the USS Peary. Look it up and be proud. It fought to the last. We remember them every year on ANZAC day. America saved Australia during the war and North Australians are mindful and grateful for that. Brothers in arms and cousins in history.

Australians are imbued with American culture.
There's a hell of a lot of it because the States dominate the English speaking world.
    Simple really.
Australians are generally well travelled and because of the cultural mix look outwards.
I realised this when I went to England to live and work for the first time.
I was surprised how relatively insular the English were compared to Australians.
I've spent a lot of time with Americans over the years but they were really well travelled themselves.

Its been my experience to find that they generally fall into 1 of 2 camps. 1st there are the open minded, adventurous, intelligent ones. They are an absolute delight to meet, chat with & show around. Then there the arrogant "good ole boy God bless America" type. These last ones are an absolute pain in the ass. Sad thing is its these pricks you tend to remember. When I was much younger I would love to have travelled to the US, now... not so much. Its a bit like being in an abusive relationship. At 1st its all lovey dovey & sweet then you realise you've been conned & lied to the entire time. With all the showy glitz & glammer thrilling you at 1st until its stripped away revealing an ugly underbelly that you didnt see or ignored. @ filmed in 2000, this video is not 24 years old and RUclips did not exist. That one young lady said America is great because of trump, maybe she was being sarcastic. I worry if young people think is is great lol
