I moved to Melbourne just under 2 years ago, best chose in my life. I had to work hard to make friends and connections, as I new no-one here. I also get payed like 70% more here then home so that helps. When I moved over I new I wasn't going back for at least 5 years or maybe never, I HAD to make this work. its interesting hearing other peoples expereinces.
A bit surprised about the negative comments here, some of which are quite vindictive & many would say very un-Australian. Kudos to you for taking such a big leap, irrespective of the outcome, you still took the chance. Glad you found your happy place, it's a place some people never find. Good luck to you, ignore the negativity & focus only on the positivity.
Did they specify it had to be Qld - or just anywhere in a regional area? Rural Australia has got a lot going for it. Plus at least you know you'd be getting a guaranteed minimum hourly rate for whatever work you ended up doing. Summer would be a real surprise for someone from Canada - but you get used to the heat. The worst combination is the heat with high humidity in coastal areas.
@@fleaniswerkhardt4647 honestly I should’ve looked more into the regional work but I panicked because I had all the brand deals and couldn’t just leave that and go to farm work
going back to Toronto was your best option i think, i would have been concerned for you in Australia, with your crying an all, it seemed like you had it pretty good, life coach? you need to settle and find yourself before you can coach anyone on life i think, i am not trying to be nasty its just good advice, you would not have survived on farmwork, its hard work. hopefully you picked up some life's lessons and it make your stay in Toronto more fruitful for you.
Interesting - perhaps go back and watch YT vloggers "Kendall & Glenn" who are excellent content creators. He is an Aussie & she is from the US. They travelled Aus extensively for 5yrs in their Van & then their old Landrover 4wd and the 140 videos they created in that time were amazing and they now work with brands & are paid to travel for photo shoots etc. It was so enjoyable watching Kendall evolve from a younger IG socialite back in the US (aware you are from Canada) and getting out of her comfort zone to come to Aus & as always it takes time to settle, but look at her now she has really connected with nature, learn't how to surf and do stuff she never dreamed of. They are now building a tiny home up in QLD as their base and will continue to travel & have the best of both worlds. Kendall did not see her family back home for about 3yrs straight which is tough if your not used to being away and not used to being an adventurer to broaden & evolve yourself but she went back end of last yr and could not go back to that lifestyle except for a holiday. Lets hope you come back one day and this time don't just get stuck in Sydney. I am in Perth & my wife is from the UK. She came out like you some 20yrs ago & met me and the rest is history as she truly believes we live in paradise over here on the west coast. 👍
Not sure if you realized but the Regional work doesn't have to be farm work it just has to be work in a town/city that's classified as regional . Plenty of people have worked as Baristas waiters and lots of other jobs it just has to be in a Regional area . better luck next time i guess ?

What you didn't religously inverstigate the visa requirements to stay in Australia before you left ? DOH. So you took the chickens way out and packed your bags and went home. Stay in Toronto you are not tough enough for Australia.

@@arfyseal you’re so right, there were opportunities like that. I heard both Horror and success stories though. But thanks :)
"I'm a content creator" (with 530 subs) not for long with that attitude.
Well back to Canada with ya.

She’s crying on a bed about how confused and distraught she is and her solution is to become a life coach . So funny .
