Funny to see Jones sooo young, especially in the interviews. I watched several interviews from the early 2000er years and 2009 (or so) and I feel like I'm looking at a totally different person, not only in appearance, but especially the facial expressions and the way he talks. He's come such a long way.
I remember seeing this years and years ago. Then, as a wrestling fan, I remember Jones in WWE. But I didn't realize Nathan Jones was the guy who broke his arm until I saw it on RUclips.
nathan was pure strength respect to the bloke magnus did know how to arm wrestle and you are supposed to use your weight and shoulder, it was basically nathans wrist vs all magnus strength and weight which by all means is a magnificent feat
small guy compared to him at that point but magnus was really strong at that point, nathan is 1 year older only, magnus came in 10th place at worlds strongest man 1995 and Nathan only qualified. But he didn't cheat because the judges wouldn't let the man win then. And the audience didn't mind, they were just shocked that he beat him. Farmer strength :D
When the bone healed it got thicker than it used to be, the bodies way to prevent future breaks there, but that made it harder to lock out his elbow. The overhead lifts were Jone's best events before, but in 1996 he had trouble on the log lift when the ref was not counting his reps for lack of locking out the elbow, and Jones had to waste a ton of energy at the top trying to do so, costing him on his best event. He should have told the ref before hand he couldn't lock out his right arm 100%.
+Erik Lundberg taking nothing away from Magnus but the year he won was one of the weakest fields and weakest events.. no straight power and strength events like dead lift or squat not even the stones.. they all involved some type of speed or endurance, the only straight power event was the log press and Magnus finished second last even with half the field out of the competition
Revz1373, Static Strength never really was Magnus' best. He did improve on it quite a bit later on however, and did deserve his top 3 finishes in what were much more competitive fields. By the time 2007 rolled around he was actually pretty good at static, especially if it was for reps if not absolute weight. Look up Magnus vs. Terry Hollands on the safe lift from that year. It is ironic that stones were not part of his 1998 win, as Magnus was the king of stones in his time. His long arms and long torso gave him very good leverages to get that thing lapped and up.
@galufthebest No, the other guy turned it into a wrist wrestling contest and he lowered himself for leverage while Jones stood errect. That's why I think they don't do this arm wrestling contest in most strongman contest.
@meathead320 Don't remove it, that's a good comment. Have you ever watch Over the Top by Sly Stallone? That movie is awesome and it gives you an idea how arm wrestling really is.
If Nathan had a weaker wrist, then he had a weaker wrist. It doesn't feel good to lose an armwrestling match very quickly to someone that looks weaker than you, or if you feel confident that you'll win! The reason is usually they use tricky techniques to put focus on different parts of the arm, like Magnus said you need be strong in your WHOLE arm. Apart from technique, there is also lactic acid, adrenaline, psychology etc. It's a deceiving contest, however we need to apply sportsmanship 1/2
much better off with a fracture than a joint dislocation if that was all it was. like he said, bone heals in 6 weeks, 8 tops, but a direct joint injury will screw you for much longer.
There was absolutely no cheating at all, Nathan turned his body and got his elbow outside his shoulder, this position in armwrestling is called ' the arm break position' . It takes very little pressure to break the humorous in that position. About 15lb I believe, shows experience counts for everything.
Reaching the pinnacle at wrestling, strongman and movies to a degree….. I wouldn’t say he failed. Most people that specialise in 1 of them never get to the top end at all. So for him to do this in 3 fields, very impressive
@galufthebest I wouldn't say weak. It's just that the other guy got a jump on him fast. In Arm Wrestling, when the ref. lets go of your hands (which means go) you have to quickly dominate your opponent's wrist. If he dominates you first you are toast. Jones just doesn't know how to do that. Yes, you can actually break your arm. I've seen it happen several times, esp. when they've dominated your wrist. The best thing Jones should've done was to let his opponent's hand slip and start over again.
Buuut, that is not against the rules. Jones simply did no know any Arm-Wrestling technique at all. He did not know how dangerous it was for him to twist his body away from his arm like that. He would have been much better off if he just said **** it and let his hand go down. Twisting away from the arm... bad move. Side twisting is the most dangerous novice mistake in the whole sport of Arm-Wrestling. Do not side twist.
Jones technique and form were nowhere near as good as Magnus's. Magnus has near perfect technique and form and that is a MAJOR deciding factor no matter how strong your opponent is, Jones was a noob here.
@galufthebest biceps strength has little to do with arm wrestling, its internal shoulder rotation if you knew anything about kinesiology or armwrestling.
in over head lift competition, I trained military press, but on competition I use leg drive(push press), specially if it is for repetition , I use my body, not just shoulders. the man in here thinks, he can use all arms all the time.
@galufthebest I've done arm wrestling contest before and I've beaten guys that close to a hundred pound my weight before. I beat them because I dominated their wrist and used leverage. If Jones knew how to wrist wrestle he would've won easily.
yeah that arm wreslting contents wall bullshit and jones knew it if jones used his bodywieght like the other guy would of snapped mangus* in half but i also think jones pride made him walk away
Funny to see Jones sooo young, especially in the interviews. I watched several interviews from the early 2000er years and 2009 (or so) and I feel like I'm looking at a totally different person, not only in appearance, but especially the facial expressions and the way he talks. Fun fact: The Swedish name of the sport Arm Wrestling is "Armbrytning" that literally translates to "Arm Breaking".
Hey heh
nathan my hero
Nathan is Black Doom👹
That was good sportsmanship from Magnus to say sorry
Didn't think there would be a video of this. Thanks for the upload :)
@Butchworm good point, some people cant wrap there heads around the fact that a persons strenght is not necessarily limited by there size
Magnus Samuelsson the viking of sweden
This probably humbled Nathan incredibly
Not much. He's still probably a prick! LOL
Holy fucking shit. You see how huge Nathan Jones is at the beginning? Dude is like twice the size of Brock Lesnar in his prime.
6-11, over 360 lbs....yep. He's one bigass dude. He was in the beginning of the movie Troy.....a soldier named Boagrius.
Crazy to think Johnny The Bull Lifted this guy over his head
@@MASTER3371 oh my god.
@@MASTER3371he will eat lesnar for lunch 😋
I remember seeing this years and years ago. Then, as a wrestling fan, I remember Jones in WWE. But I didn't realize Nathan Jones was the guy who broke his arm until I saw it on RUclips.
Weak Wrist and bad technique, but brute force big lad.
nathan was pure strength respect to the bloke magnus did know how to arm wrestle and you are supposed to use your weight and shoulder, it was basically nathans wrist vs all magnus strength and weight which by all means is a magnificent feat
Yep! Arms do break in an Arm-wrestling match sometimes...but what a way to put away the competition!!!
small guy compared to him at that point but magnus was really strong at that point, nathan is 1 year older only, magnus came in 10th place at worlds strongest man 1995 and Nathan only qualified.

Brother unbelievable power
I bet big Nate would've destroyed all of them in a strongman contest.
those arms are fucking MASSIVE!!
respect to those sportsmen
3:39 hahaha😂😂🤣🤣🤣
beast
Nathan impress me.
Nathan is mui strongman, se garante.
Damn that Aussie is a unit, Magnus is 6'6 but his hands & arms look half the size of Nathans.
Magnus Samuelsson is a Arm Wrestling and WSM Champion.
Didn't know that Duke Nukem was one of the world's strongest men in the 90's.
Lol
Three years later Magnus Samuelsson won the World's Strongest Man competition.
+revz1373
Didn't five guys drop out due to illness?
1998 WSM is worst year I can remember for injuries.
Revz1373, Static Strength never really was Magnus' best. He did improve on it quite a bit later on however, and did deserve his top 3 finishes in what were much more competitive fields. Yes the jail is only about an hour from where I live which is closed now but he had a reputation as you would assume.
what specific rule did he break?
Creo que ya se porque ya no se hace torneo de pulsos en la competición de hombres más fuertes del mundo..
No fucking way Magnus was a fucking beast, half his size and 2x as strong.
arm wrestling requires technique as well as strength, just like every other sport on the face of the earth. Magnus had superior technique.
Crazy this guys everywhere like a camelion
wooooow if he played i the wwe he will be awesome
Achilleus ................................. !!!!!!!!!!!!
Like a challenge do ya, Nathan?! hahahaha
Well he was right about Magnussen not winning easily XD
Superior technique and strength both
he bended the nathan´s finger to no permit him to use his strenght.
he was on work release from prison at this point right? gonna be hard to bait with that arm.
Jones has terrible arm wrestling technique. He is using his wrist lol.
I agree. I don't arm wrestle, but if seems that a cardinal rule would be never to allow the wrist to go past a point of acute bend, and keep trying...
That other guy cheated. You can tell hes one of those douchebags that studies how to get his skinny punk @ss how to win.
Lol. He’s not an arm wrestler
That requires a particular technique. He was there to lift heavy things
He's is strong but his technique cause his hands to be broken, if he knew Arm wrestling he may have come out on top
2/2 I think sportsmanship is accepting a loss like brushing dust off your shoulder and using the newly acquired knowledge for the next contest.
Lol, "His arms are bigger than most people's legs!"
If Nathan had a weaker wrist, then he had a weaker wrist.
It doesn't feel good to lose an armwrestling match very quickly to someone that looks weaker than you, or if you feel confident that you'll win!

Wow
I agree with some of you. Magnus shouldn`t have been able to use his body weight like that. I also agree that Nathan needed better wrist control.
lo que le paso que el otro lo agarraba bien i NATHAN JONES SU BRAZO ES MAS GRANDE ESO CREO
4:14 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
It looks like he bent Nathan's wrist, not his fingers.
much better off with a fracture than a joint dislocation if that was all it was. like he said, bone heals in 6 weeks, 8 tops, but a direct joint injury will screw you for much longer.

Lol he knew what he was doing, dirty little player XD
I actually spiral fractured my humerus which is the same as a broken bone in arm wrestling and I now have a metal plate in my arm and bolts.
:Boagrius
:Magnus...............hold my beer
What Magnus did was so badas beating the podium and all.
Is that a former wrestler of WWE Nathan Jones ???
A film actor now...
Magnus won fair and square, was it bs when Magnus won the arm over arm event?
Nathan jones tried his hand in everything (Movies, Strong Man, WWE, MMA) but failed in all of them...
Reaching the pinnacle at wrestling, strongman and movies to a degree….. I wouldn’t say he failed.
Most people that specialise in 1 of them never get to the top end at all. So for him to do this in 3 fields, very impressive
No wonder Vince McMahon wanted Nathan Jones in WWE.
No wonder why Vince wanted him, he is huge
Boagrius vs Achilles
Nathan might return to the wwe! Nathan Jones returning to the WWE? major details
@galufthebest I wouldn't say weak. It's just that the other guy got a jump on him fast. magnus had a weird technique
Mega man looks like Guile from Street Fighter!

Using his whole body as the announcer just said. You try holding your arm up when someone is using their hole body.
No problem. I do it a lot. You really should watch my videos.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH....! I get it :D
Nathan looks like Brucie from GTA IV
Jones technique and form were nowhere near as good as Magnus's. Magnus has near perfect technique and form and that is a MAJOR deciding factor no matter how strong your opponent is, Jones was a noob here.
Do explain
@George18798 Yes.
I wouldn't know, I am not a arm wrestler by any sporting standards.
my dad was in jail with nathan jones and he said it took nathan 11 kicks to kick the cell door down thats is in boger road!!
Hope everything is well with your Dad.
I was once incarcerated and going to the joint is nothing nice.
He broke his arm?
@evolutionpropaganda His body tapers
Flying jatt ka villan
@galufthebest biceps strength has little to do with arm wrestling, its internal shoulder rotation if you knew anything about kinesiology or armwrestling.
remember when this guy was in the wwe. he was so bad they wanted to erase him from wwe history.
Bullshit, anyway he is a legend here in Australia
in over head lift competition, I trained military press, but on competition I use leg drive(push press), specially if it is for repetition , I use my body, not just shoulders. the man in here thinks, he can use all arms all the time.
Just what I have heard I can't 100% say it happened but I wouldn't be suprised who would fuck with Nathan Jones lol.
Something had to give .....and it looks like nathan's.
It should be against the rules using your whole body weight in arm wrestling.
How did Magnus cheat??? If uve never been a part of or even seen an arm wrestling competition please don't comment.
3:144 unfair armwrestling match because the other guy bent his hand back and used more upper body
HE LOOK LIKE DUKE NUKEM IN THIS !!!!!!!!!
he really fucked up his arm man
Magnus used Science to beat Nathan.
entire body weight vs one arm they should pinalise tose who use body weight
The man was crafty and deliberately crushed Nathan Jones wrist!
🤣🤣🤣
rob halford arm wrestling jones
Check out this nathan jones interview about his prison time ruclips.net/video/hTJGNb74zXI/видео.html
@galufthebest I've done arm wrestling contest before and I've beaten guys that close to a hundred pound my weight before. I beat them because I dominated their wrist and used leverage. If Jones knew how to wrist wrestle he would've won easily.
yeah that arm wreslting contents wall bullshit and jones knew it if jones used his bodywieght like the other guy would of snapped mangus* in half but i also think jones pride made him walk away
jones looks alot like duke nukem
he is very strong even stron than the undertaker hh don't believe it I just said big joke here
Nice seeing that loudmouth humbled
bullshit on the armwrestle
ya but magnus cheated, he pulled his hand down with his bodyweight and twisted jones wrist
Looks like Samuelsson was pulling using his whole body instead of arm wrestling.
