This is what cycling with pals is all about... having a laugh, getting some headspace and talking about the big stuff that happens in life. #rideforcharlie looks like amazing support for the Juniors out there 🙌
Got to be two of the most genuine guys in cycling. I remember rushing to a race late and accidentally being at the front of the start line, looked to my right and Nick Craig...I said I was totally in the wrong place and he just laughed and said keep up and he’d give me a tow, but no way could I keep up. Lovely bloke, proper gent and sums up why bikes and racing are great. Top film, very touching.
I went to the same school as Charlie. When he died we were all devastated but the reaction from the school community was beautiful. It's amazing how everyone came together and helped out with #rideforcharlie and the majority of the older students still wear wristbands. Keep going, Nick! A great video Matt seeing you fall off and struggle to clip in always makes my day.
What a touching chat about a subject which is very emotive. No parent should out live their child so I can’t imagine the pain they have been through and continue to suffer. What a wonderful man and big respect to Matt for the way he broached the subject .... a wonderful moment between two old friends 👏👏
Great video, love Nick Craig. A wonderfully caught moment when his talking about Charlie. What the Craig's have done in the wake of such an awful tragedy is amazing. Look forward to the next Cafe Ride #rideforcharlie
I went back to watch the first of this series with the legend that is Nick Craig - what a great video. Two top & seriously talented blokes just enjoying biking, but also covering the very emotional background to #RideForCharlie in a thoughtful but positive way. A real lesson for both biking & life in general. Thanks guys
I really hope this is a long running series. I could watch a tv show length version of this on Netflix and binge it happily. Matt Stephens is literally my favorite cycling personality and he brings out the best aspects of everyone he’s around because everyone loves him.
Couldn't agree more with the man. There's so much more to off-road riding than just the effort, and once the terrain becomes technically demanding, the effort comes naturally.
No sure why you'd unsub... obviously Matt made something good even better however GCN still produce quality content, in particular Si's more in-depth document style videos
I've just stumbled in to these off the back of GCN. Brilliant series and in this example a very moving one. all the inspiration I need to hit the road. I'm 58, been cycling for the best part of 40 years and feeling fitter than I have for years. As addictions go, it's a good one.
A great episode both, what a legend and such a nice chap. Heartbreaking hearing him talk about Charlie, but only wish for more continued support for 'rideforcharlie'. Please re-visit this please and do another episode Matt with Nick.
what a great video. Matt really knows how to portray cycling as fun. Im thinking of returning to cycling after 20 years of ill health etc. These inspire me. Be great to see a map of the route so we can do these routes. Thanks for making my morning.
Wonderful video. I don't ride offroad these days, but when I did I have fond memories of Nick supporting the sport class MTB racers at various venues across the UK, great to see him halfway up a hard climb. The terrain they rode across is also very familiar to me. Top job fellas.
Remember Nick flying past me in a NWCCA race mid 90's. All I remember as I flew off at a tangent into a ditch was a distant voice, "Sorry!". :) Top rider.
Great to see Matt back on the bike, sadly missed from the "other" channel. This reminded me of cycling in the Dales, taking my road bike over Mastilles Lane ( a green lane that goes over the tops between Malham and Kilnsey) , stopping off at cafes and the odd pub, and heading home in time for tea. This is the best of cycling :)
Proper legend. Still just as fast as ever. Did an xc race at Lee Quarry earlier in the year and he was there - Always an honour to be lapped by the great man haha
Really enjoyable see! Matt Stephens on a mountain bike in snow and ice!:). It was sad hear about Nick Craig's son Charlie and this video was very emotional for me and I wish Nick Craig's family strength for continue their lives. Sigma Sports hat of for you.
Well done Matt. Great how you raised the Ride for Charlie. And what an inspiring initiative that is having some a brilliant impact and will leave such a legacy.
Man, this was wonderful. I had no idea who he was interviewing but it didn’t matter - turns out it was just a real human (despite his accolades and achievements). Fun riding, something new for Matt (I had a similar experience in NZ with my friends who all ride MTB) and the very worthwhile cause of Ride for Charlie (a quick Google just about broke my heart).
Hey Matt! I feel sorry for the young lad Charlie because he was so young and I am sure he had a bright future ahead of him. In New York City when my Debernardi Road Bike is ready from its custom build than I won’t mind riding for Charlie in the Five Borough Bike Ride. I am not a young lad like he was since I am in my forties right now. This is one great episode to watch and I look forward for more to come. Cheers Everyone!
Only just found this and a great moving video. Ones a legend in the Cross world and the other has a great laugh ! I was really touched to learn about Charlie and I think its wonderful how Nick his wife and family are keeping his name alive. Best wishes to everyone. Sorry Matt it always makes me smile when you struggle to clip in.
Brutal ride in some parts, but beautiful country. Very touching story about Charlie. My condolences to Nick and Sarah. He looks to have a been a fine young man who enjoyed the short life that he lived.
Thats what it's all about for sure, mateship and taking life the way it comes and getting back on the bike. Truly inspiring stuff thanks guys, and thanks Charlie for your legacy.
I’m a bit late to comment on this but I’ve only just watched the video. Just when you think you couldn’t like Matt Stevens anymore. Beautifully handled a very tough subject 👏
Matt really makes my Day.I think GCN got rid of the wrong guy. He More Fun than the others. Nice to see him meeting up with charlie Dad.cannot wait to see the next Video of them again.
Nice to see Matt is unable to clip in first time on any Bikes and he can make a nasty crash look funny. This was an Excellent Vid and cannot wait for Part 2Excellent mix of great riding, humour and I really felt for Nick when he was speaking about Charlie. How they are coping and what they have done is truly remarkable and inspiring and I wish them both well.Nick Craig another Brit cycling legend that we should see much more ofI was going out on the road bike today but, I feel a ''cheeky'' few off road miles happening instead

Who the hell can give a video like that a thumbs down!! Great stuff.

Fantastic episode 👍
This is a good format for Matt. He enjoys riding, he enjoys good company. Give him both 👌
Nothing will even beat Matt Stephens' laugh!
There is only one Matt Stephens. Great video and thank you Nick Craig. Roll on part 2.

Lucky enough to have met Nick, great guy !
Thanks Matt and nick. The interview over charlie was really tactfully done and nick was really good to talk about it.#rideforcharlie
Remember Nick flying past me in a NWCCA race mid 90's. All I remember as I flew off at a tangent into a ditch was a distant voice, "Sorry!". :) Top rider.
Seems like a good guy.
This is like Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars” but with Matt Stephens on bikes. Brilliant! ❤️
Thank you both for sharing. Blessings of Peace to you

Lovely film lads. Well spoken Nick. Peace and love x
Well done Matt Stephens. This is why I admire you. Thank you for this vlog. Nick Craig is a courageous father.
Nick Craig, thats a name from the past in old MTB mags, good to see he's still got the passion.
18 mins of Stevens has made my Friday 😁
Proper legend. Still just as fast as ever. Did an xc race at Lee Quarry earlier in the year and he was there - Always an honour to be lapped by the great man haha

Whelp, I didn't expect to be crying watching this but here I am!
Well done Matt. Great how you raised the Ride for Charlie. And what an inspiring initiative that is having some a brilliant impact and will leave such a legacy.
I 'play' very badly at Cross but have recently rediscovered my love for it, Nick Craig is cyclocross and continues to inspire me and many others.
What a great dad ... Can see how much his boy meant to him 💙

Great to see you on the bike Matt, miss you on GCN. You're joy is infectious and makes me want to ride more.
Absolutely loved this. it epitomises everything that is great about cycling. Good luck with the fundraising Nick, so sorry for you loss
Matt, you’ve got the right attitude about life, keep pressing on and enjoy my friend.
