What can I say ..🤔 back in the 60's four of us went from Epsom in Surrey all the way to Kingussie, Scotland via the Eastern track, ran out of time, so had to head back on the western side. The whole trip in 3 weeks youth hostelling with 2 bloody great panniers fitted over the rear wheels of my Claude Butler - a triple clanger at one end with a chain connecting to a 5 gear changer at the other end, and only being able to use 13 gears because the chain wouldn't expand/contract enough at the extremes!
And I watch this excellent video film of yours while lying in bed from what is gloriously entitled a 'Spine Stroke!' and I'm loving every moment! I might add i must be slightly mental cause I'm thinking that when I'm fully recovered I might persuade my stepson to join me on that 200 mile endurance course you have video'd.
This video has brought back the memories of the sheer joy of peddling along country roads, out of the way of the main roads when possible, and all this enjoyment done with maps! 🙂🙂🙂
I've just asked the wife of we could cycle this route, in 3 days with the addition of electrically assisted bikes. I've been told I'm hallucinating. Possibly so. Keep up the excellent videos. I envy you 🥴

Brings back memories - I bikepacked a large chunk of this route back in 1984, just after the Kylesku bridge opened (the Falcon Cotswold I used is currently on my turbo trainer, minus panniers). Met a golden eagle on the road near Achmelvich early in the morning, feeding on a carcass. Spectacular views in Torridon and of Stac Pollaidh and Suilven. Would be sweet to head back again while I'm still able.

Hat off to you guys. I've driven a lot of parts separately before, but did a modified version a couple of years ago. Stayed in Applecross (stunning wee place) and drove to Tongue. That was a fair old drive, but we loved it. Glad you like the stovies Si, prefer it with beef myself. Lovely with oatcakes and a slice or two of beetroot.

Not done anything like this in a lot of years. In my youth when I had less responsibilities I did a lot of bikepacking.
One of favourite trips to remember was when I was with a group of friends in continental Europe and we were chosing where to go based on least pronouncable name on the signposts. So when people asked where we'd been we genuinely had no idea.
Generally travelled with as little money as possible so we had to involve ourselves in the locale we were in. Not able to be as focussed on getting to set places but it was interesting.

Last summer (2018) I explored the NC500 for three weeks, with no expectations; now, my only expectation is that someday I return. I fancy myself as a road aficionado but nothing prepared me for the brutal beauty of The Highlands. I sat on those very chairs in Ullapool. Which reminds me, the only complaint I have is navigating the tsunami of tourists, which places me as part of the problem. However, avoiding the tourist “traps” along the NC500 reveals splendid places to find peace. Great video!

A huge thumbs up from me! Absolutely the best video on the channel. A fantastic part of the country with stunning scenery.
