I'm glad I wasn't the only one who chuckled at that. "That's how that zombie got his job in the first place", I thought.
The zombies did more damages to those shadow-walkers than anything else in the army. They broke their ego.
Vlad's unsummon reminds me of Vilitch's "death" animation: he opens a portal and runs away like a true vaudevillian villain.
Dude, this guy showing up with shadowwalkers and showing just how devastating their missiles are against certain targets - what a pick. What a legend. He deserves the 'attacker of the day' award no matter how this fight ends
Anyone going in with Shadow Walkers in the opener is a hero.
People sleep on them so much, they're very good in some of match ups for High Elves ;)
I think the idea with the shadowwalkers is that there is nothing on the VC roster (besides the heavy cavalry) that is particularily good against them, also vampires suffer against skirmishing builds that deny them combat untill the combat suits the skirmisher: and this is exactly what shadow walkers do.
Okay, but can we talk about how good Czarix is?? Like not just micro, but decision making in the heat of the battle, small things like peeling off a fighting unit to break charge on another incoming unit and the trigger discipline on shadow walkers as well.
I thought he will get overwhelmed for sure and just not be able to clear fast enough to control the battlefield, but that was an absolute master class in elite builds playstyle.

Great cast of a classic confrontation between two old foes. My very first campaign back in TWW1 days was the Vampire Counts - my first table top army - so I have a soft spot for them.
Not entirely sure I would consider the High Elves and Vampire Counts "old foes" in anything but referring to their longevity, but I share your attachment to the bloodsuckers.
...Which is why it pains me that I'll be waiting AT LEAST another year for DLC.
Thats the High Elf elite game im looking for, every unit used to its exact task and doing it well.
Based on the lore and to an extent the Tabletop I would say Grail Knights are the best non-monstrous cavalry man for man. Chaos Knights and Blood Knights are very slightly worse than Grails overall but only slight and are pretty much tied with each other.
Dragon Princes aren't quite as strong as those three, but they are strong enough that it's at least worth having the conversation which is impressive considering they're basically the elf equivalent of Reiksguard.
It's worth mentioning that Dragon Princes should be significantly faster than the others and therefore more likely to get the charge. It's their biggest advantage and something that could get them a win, but its not really reflected in TW:W
that doesnt mean grail knights should be straight up broken in the game if everything was lore accurate this game would be a bunch of invincible dudes beating up eachother
yeah, White Lions also shouldn't be a mid-tier infantry unit either
lorewise, I understand Dragon Princes being weaker than Grail Knights (THE knights, juiced on mystic lakewater) and Chaos Knights (THE baddy knights, juiced on Chaos), but I've never quite gotten their being worse than Blood Knights. I get that vampires, w/ the curse and all, are more physically formidable than humans, but same's true for elves. And in each case, you're fielding a whole unit of ancient lords. Is the curse THAT strong?
Yes, it is. Especially Blood Dragon.
I'm not an expert on Blood Knights but Chaos Knights actually had better combat stats than Grail Knights in TT.

The Blood knight discussion is exactly what I considered, then made a mod for. They're immortal knights, probably the best in the world. I basically gave them the swords of chaos treatment.

Maaan, that netstop and reacharge by dragon princes was mlg move, making 2 spells (regrowth and net) for about 3000+ value in half a minute. Truly heroic shine for my lovely order femboys ;3

In terms of unit sizes in lore/how elite they are in lore, Dragon Princes should be comparable to Blood Knights in combat effectiveness and units sizes. There likely are fewer blood knights than dragon princes that exist at any one time, but in terms of how many are fielded in a battle/army, it should be a similar amount, and in terms of combat ability they should be comparable. The only cav that can truly claim to be superior to all else are the grail knights, which are pretty much the #1 in the world. Chaos Knights, Blood Knights, Wild Riders, and Dragon Princes are on the step below (with Mournfang cav probably there just because of the force they possess). Maybe horned one riders and cold one knights as well, but we have very little material about the former (me only considering them due to the inherent strength of saurus and horned ones), and the latter varies drastically in skill level (they can be comparable to dragon princes, and they can be quite lackluster).
Disclaimer: I have terrible momentary memory so might be some elite cav on the level of blood knights/dragon princes that I forgot about while writing this

I love how you introduce the swordmasters by talking about that one ability that is compeltly useless against Vampier Counts.
Fast forward a couple of End Times later, those Silverin Guards are still rhere holding the point.
I honestly use a ton of vargheists lol been working great for me.
I feel like a terrorgoos is a must agains highelfs bloodknights are good in sniping out a caster on a horse but they cant clear archers very fast and loose against dragonprinces with a bit of support witch is almost allways the case

I think they should lower the model count on Blood Knights but keep the HP the same. Increase their mass slightly I guess.
while grail knights are op in the game, in lore grail knights are also some of the baddest asses to ever ass badly, so its hard to say
side note the puremane company are my favorite infantry unit in the game.

hmm, the swordmasters missile block chance seems kinda wasted against VC, I wonder why not bring phoenix guard for their anti large like agaisnt crypt horrors?
because when you have massive hoards of zombies and skeletons tar pitting your objectives, swordmasters will actually scythe through them very quickly. Phoenix Guard have absolutely pitiful damage output against infantry. They won't take any damage, but they also won't kill anything
You dont bring them for the missile block chance. Do you think it was a bad choice to bring silverin guard because they have a missile block chance? Having a core of silverin guard which can deal with crypt horrors easily and late game swordmasters to clean up all the infantry VC can field is smart.

Man, seeing dragon princes perform so well makes me wish even more that DE cold one knights would get some type of buff. One of the most useless cavalry in the game for their price.

No blue-white is the worst in MTG. Back when the game was good and WoTC didn’t destroy it yet, it was insanse with control decks.

Grail knights are perfeftly fine. Stop whining. Bretonnia doesnt have any monstrous cav, the grail knights are basically now their monstrous cav. And no, pegasus/hippogrif knights are FLYING monstrous cav. Which is a very big deal in the new MP world. No capture weight, for units that cost 1200+ is not great. Especially since they are less cost efficient than most other flying monstrous cav.
Grail knights still have to contend with Anti-large cav/SEU/monstrous infantry/cav and magic/shooting. There are plently ways to deal with them, god forbid we actually see grail knights now becsuse they are worth the cost due to being deadly vs infantry. Hell elite halberd units can still contend unless they get rear charged, which is FINE. Hell.
All this said, i would like to see a buff to dragon princes as well. Maybe give them more AP damage as a start.

its always a great day when the VC lose and its an even better day when elite units are able to shine in a dom match!
First
VC needs some buffs, they get nerfed every patch it seems. Also I think Turin discriminates against evil factions, Dark Elves and VC ALWAYS lose. It's getting to the point that I know what the outcome of the battle is going to be without even having to watch it.
They were undisputed number 1 until a couple pf patches ago and are still very strong
VC were op for like 8 months and even after patches with nerfs, they're still strong. Still in the top 5 factions.
Whenever I develop precognition, I take a break.
this is some high quality helf gameplay. and it is coming from a guy who hates elves in all their fantasy iterations more than Melkor and Pelinal Whitestrake put together.
