Meryl is such a great cat! She was soooo calm! If you cut her little nails (not de clawing) and gently file using a pet nail filer you're pants won't be ruined!! Also brushing her regularly will def help with your allergies!
I’ve also heard wiping down with a damp microfiber cloth daily can help control the dander as well. Have I done this for my husband who is deathly allergic? NO but it’s always an option 😅🤣

Amazed how well Meryl took to having a bath. My cat Larry is long haired and has only become more tolerant of brushing. He is a stray from the shelter so clearly wasn't used to it. However, he does a great job grooming himself and looks very handsome. Plus, his vet said it's ok to skip bathing if too stressful. Nature can take care of itself. :)

As a cat mom for many years, I’m not sure if you have scratching posts and cat trees around your home for Meryl. It really helps give cats a place of their own especially when they’re stressed or anxious! 😸

You’re not the only ones to feel empty after Lanmas & Everyday May. For me as a viewer ( that sounds a bit creepy ) it’s like having the best time with your friend for a month. Having our coffee together in the morning and doing our makeup together- and then after a month your bestie is just gone 😢. Anyway I’m happy that you’re posting videos again after your well deserved break. I need all of the distraction I can get after the loss of my beloved cat. 2024 didn’t start in the best way for me💔😭. Allana I feel the same about my husband. I’m 55 and he turned 60 yesterday. I’ve had a few different health issues since Thanksgiving and he has taken the best care of me. Never made me feel anything but loved. It’s the best feeling. ❤

glad to be on the pills 😅 i no longer have my period! i take it because i have endometriosis and so it stops my period, i still have some pain sometimes but not like before thankfully
The Mirena cool got rid of pretty much all period issues for me, best thing I done after years of misery. Doesn't affect fertility once you take it back out. Lasts 5 yrs unless you remove.

You definitely don’t need your give Meryl a regular, but this is a good reason to do so. As I get older as well, they sometimes aren’t able to groom themselves as much and that’s when you’ll need to start to regularly groom them. I only wash my cats either their paws or their entire body if I have to otherwise I don’t. And I double check with their vets every year just in case something changes.
wow meryl was SO well behaved compared to most cats getting a bath 😅 also for people who will question giving cats a bath, you don’t HAVE to give cats a bath because most of the time they will keep themselves clean BUT it does help a lot in certain scenarios (aka meryl not keeping herself clean or cats who have bad skin issues) plus some cats don’t mind or even love baths!
Yessss my cousin has a hairless angel kitty and she loves her baths! Meryl is not a fan so we will definitely keep it to a minimum 😅

Just a thought- they sell waterless shampoo for pets- it is a foam you put on and towel dry off the cat/dog/rabbit etc...

Quality laundry baskets are hard to find so thanks for sharing! We started sorting our clothes based on texture not color and it’s life changing! (e.g. cotton, linen,soft material / spandex, Elastane, sports clothes / towels,robes)

I used to have an IUD and it almost completely stopped my period for 5 years. Highly recommend.

Meryl is a good kitty. Give her extra treats. I bathed my cats as needed…aka when they weren’t doing their own baths for various reasons…or when I wanted them to smell nicer…but definitely not too often

Cats definitely don't need regular baths, but once in a while a particular dirty-kitty-occasion does call for it! Good on you (and such a good girl Meryl for taking it!) for taking on the challenge. My two like to sit on the edge of the tub while I bathe and dip their paws and tails in 😂. But then again, they are trained to use the toilet, so they are no strangers to water.

Keeping the water nice and warm can keep stress levels down during cat bath, I find my allergies lessen a lot after Amber gets her bath too!
I've never bathed my cats either lol! I don't think it's necessary on a regular basis but I think you did the right thing by bathing her when she was stressed out and not grooming! You're such a good cat mom :)

My 2 kitties go ballistic anywhere near water. I gave up and started using cat wipes that have gentle, natural ingredients. They quite like the wipes. Also, i got the vet to teach me how to trim their nails so i do it more often at home and clothes are fine, couches much better now.

Please know that my cat was VERY concerned for Meryl during her bath. AHAHAHA. As a long-time cat owner (and shelter volunteer!) what I've learned are that there are specific circumstances for bathing them (i.e., they get muddy or you are instructed by their vet) but otherwise it's not something you should do. Going for relaxing things that help her with stress/anxiety would likely be more helpful in the future - a cat nip or cat nip spray, extra attention/play time if she's wanting it, temporarily covering windows so she feels she has a break from being watched by the neighbour cat, etc. I've been following since your Calgary days, so I know she's already a princess with the best mom ever. :)

You've probably gotten a million people telling you about Feliway / Comfort Zone Diffusers, but they work pretty magically for kitty stress, especially territorial-induced stressors. They'll make Meowryl feel like the whole house is safe and unmistakably HER territory. Amazon Canada has some reasonably priced multi packs so you can pheromone-up your entire home for her.
Totally agree. It really works. Used it when we moved so my 2 cats wouldn't stress.
