Once a month now? He was pushing this for once every three months previously. I've done this a number of times and it's honestly less unpleasant to just do a water fast for 3.5 days, which is what this imitates. You're only hungry the first day during a 3.5 day fast. You're hungry constantly eating the FMD. And I didn't buy his overpriced nonsense but met the macros and micros with my own recipe.
i disagree. it's convenient and easy. after a few cycles you adjust. water fasting risks loss of lean muscle and bone. but you can try DIY fmd if money is an issue. there are a lot of blog posts on how to do this.
@@smilebot484 On the loss of muscle, that's why so many favor the 2-3 day fast. No danger of muscle loss. I'm assuming bone loss wd take longer than muscle loss.
I've done FMD twice. Highly recommended. Got my 8 pack back each time and body fat loss durable for months. Initially, 0 kg lost. Medium term awesome effects.
Very nice. Thanks for the update. My only negative about Dr. Longo's FMD is that it is prohibitively expensive. A third or quarter of the current price would be much more palatable (pardon the pun).
I also wonder if the Prolon will be as effective if the 700kcal threshold is not a drastic calorie deficit compared to baseline? for example if one's intake for weight maintenence is 1200kcal then it could suggest that 400kcal may be better because the Prolon calorie amount is based on an average daily intake of 2000kcal per day as the maintenance amount
Thanks Sheekey! I have been using the FMD for 5 days per week and then two anabolic days with high protein and a caloric surplus. On anabolic days with high quality animal proteins, I lift weights and on catabolic days I do aerobic exercises. The catabolic days are my FMD where I follow a vegetarian keto diet and push 500-1500 calorie deficits. In the end I make sure that I am averaging around a 500 calorie deficit/day for a 1 pound/wk weight loss. It isn’t as near as challenging or unhappy as water-fasting and I sleep well at night unlike with water-fasting. So far so good.
Elsewhere, ive seen people talking about ...A. cancer as diet / carbs sugar / diabetes inducing diet related. And B diseases such as althsheimers also being caused by the same diets... and also reversed or slowed by diet change.... even cysts seem to from such diets...
I would love to try ProLon's Fasting Mimicking Diet Plan to see if I would experience any benefits, but it is too expensive for me. It cost $187 for five days of food, or $175 if you get a subscription plan. Still, I am very interested in this research and what new health and longevity recommendations and insights it could provide.
It averages to $12 per meal for 5 days. Minus the standard cost of food, it costs very little. However you could just try a water fast, which is definitely affordable 🙂
@@peterbhagwandeen8359 While I am sure that $12 a meal for 5 days is affordable for some people. I am very low income (I live off of SSDI), and I cannot afford more than $4 -$7 a meal, except on rare occasions (I might be able to justify $25 a day if it is only for 5 days - but that would mean a max of $125 and that is stretching it for me). I have tried water fasts before, but the problem is that they tend to cause me to get really bad headaches after the 22 hour mark and they aggravate my generalized anxiety disorder. Still, I appreciate your advice. Thank you. Hopefully someone else who reads this comment will be better able to make use of it.
I wonder if there's any research out there (looked but could not find) on how to best align FMDs with menstrual cycles. What days of the cycle would be best to FMD considering the hormonal changes that happen during each phase.
You can find cheap diy recipes online. I planned mine (took me an hour) using cronometer, and it's reaaly cheap, i can send you. But i think Prolon team designed their recipe to trick the body to be a bit more satieted.
Yes I have a few olives and avocados per day and a bit of vegetable soup. I aim for about 500 calories per day and avoid protein as much as possible. It is much much easier than water only, and If I miscalculate I will still be below his limit, if I ate nothing for 5 days it would still be ok, so can't go wrong really.

It's all about the entropy production. Since all in our universe is in a cycle, life is based on a cycle, you need live in a cycle. Fasting reorganize your internal structure and minimize the entropy production in your body.
i made this video before more on the biochemistry behind the FMD: ruclips.net/video/lTlT3R1u_PY/видео.html
Interesting vid... Would be cool to see more studies of the effects of FMD on Alzheimer's in future

Sylvie Pajot's channel offers simple meal options...fresh food so u don't need to spend all that money. IMO, fasting should be dirt cheap!

@@smilebot484 Not over a short time it doesn't. Not if you're active. I just did a 5 day water fast now. Lol.

You can get close by eating a salad with vinaigrette and nuts (measure each component) or just an avocado.
Try a DIY version of the fmd. Just measure the food on a scale yourself, cheap as chips.
He has a book in which he outlines the exact recipes you can use. I have used that and then tweaked myself. I also just bought prolon to compare.

What do you think of this diet for senior citizens?
The placebo involves replacing lunch with... lunch...and yet five people dropped out.

Have a look at Dr Mindy Feltz videos.

Telomere length maybe? Presence of inclusions like lipofuscin, B-amyloid, etc.
Why are papers written in prose? Bullet points would make it a lot easier to both understand and find flaws in them IMHO.

They should have evaluated a diet relationship to humanin levels. This could be a presenter to the relationship to cancer remission or progression
it's standard to start with mice and then move to more expensive trials on humans if the mouse studies show promise.

Most medication for diabetes doesn't lower blood sugar, it only makes it so the cells don't absorb as much glucose. The sugar is still there.
